What a great adventure! I admit to freaking out as you stood on the lip of the volcano and flew your drone. It looked as though you had a fragile foothold. That waterfall was amazing! The geology was cool and those basaltic columns at its base were an interesting feature. Thank you, again, for sharing a memorable outing, Shaun.
What a beautiful place!! I love snow. We don't get much of it here in Arizona. Tomato soup and grilled cheese looked like a perfect meal to end a great day. Loved the drone footage of the waterfall and volcano. Glad you all are enjoying your trip!
Loved getting to see what driving around stunning Iceland is like in the early winter. It looks so beautiful! I get more desperate to go every year, and hope 2018 is the year that I can cross Iceland off the bucket list. Glad to have your videos from there, Scotland and all around to entertain me until then :)
I'm from Iceland, I just stumbled on this video, and I cannot begin to describe just how happy I am to hear a tourist actually talking responsibly about driving in Iceland in the winter! We get waaaaayyy too many tourists who have zero clue what they are doing, and so they get themselves into trouble! And that's partly our fault as well as we are not very good with advertising Iceland as it is. We portray it as this magical, elf-loving, sparkly aurora ball of wonderfulness but fail to mention the dangers. So Shaun, THANK YOU for actually taking the time to alert people on how dangerous it can be to drive in Iceland in the wintertime if you are not used to it!
Brilliant video man. Certainly is a beautiful country. We only managed to do a quick 3-day tour around the south west at the end of September, but it's somewhere I would love to go back to, probably a few more times!
Driving is great practice for when you come to Alaska! I definitely need to get there and check it off my list. And we have 2 feet of snow on the ground and it's -20F. And I love Oban - 14 is my favorite!
I did not know that Scotland didn’t get much snow. We’d call that snow a ‘dusting’ here in Wisconsin. And it does take some practice to drive in snow safely. Every year during the first major snowfall, at least 6 inches, we see cars that ran off the road because the driver forgot how to drive on snow. That waterfall scene was great, thanks for sharing!
The scenes just prepare me for the snow coming to minnesota. I am NOT ready for it! Thanks for sharing. Hope to get there on my return trip to Scotland. Icelandic air allows for up to 7 day stop over without additional airfare!
Shaun we can get between 36 to 70 inches depending on the season. None on the ground so far! Temps in January go into the deep freeze & can get below zero Fahrenheit. Wind chill lower than that! Wanna come visit?
I love your video, thank you so much for sharing! Do you mind to share your driving routes with me. I will be in Iceland in January 22 for a 7 days solo trip. Would love to know what would be a good route for travelling
I have to check some maps to see how big Iceland is. it is brave to be in mountains in the winter. mountains and winter are so much bigger than us. Thanks as always Shaun.
Nice video. Snæfellsnes is the place to go if you can't take a full round tour. It has got a little bit of everything. Good to see that you got some snowfall in Reykjavík. Beautiful. The winter has come a bit hard in Iceland after you gone. It has been a blizzard or difficult weather for 4 days now in the North East (mid between Húsavík and Mývatn if you look at a map), and still one day to go. It is true that driving in Iceland in the winter is perfectly fine (after all, we do it all the time), but it is important to look at the weatherforcast every day and be aware that the weather here changes usually often and sometimes quite fast. And look in to every information centre that comes your way (like you did). The staff there will have good information on road conditions. (I am an ex park ranger and worked at an information centre. It is a reflex to preach about the weather)
Elva Guðmundsdóttir thanks Elva, crazy about the weather. I absolutely love fierce weather and could watch for hours as that icy snow wind blows in ❄️🇮🇸
Another great vlog, Shaun!! As soon as you said volcano I started saying outloud "I hope he brought the drone. Imagine the beautiful views!" I'm so happy that you did, although I got a bit nervous for you when I saw u we're standing on the rim! I have been interested in seeing Iceland for years, so its wonderful to watch you experience it. From the northern lights to the scenery and the beautiful snow, it just seems like a magical place to be! Is it hard finding people who speak English there, or is it one of those places where many people are bilingual?
I just had to watch this again, I miss the snow so much! We don't get alot here in Seattle unless we go up into the mountains...Ive heard it's that way in Scotland too, is that right? Also, I love grilled cheese and tomato soup. It's a very popular meal here in the states. I grew up eating that in the winter time and now as soon as the weather turns cold I start craving it. =)
Great video, can you give me an advise for suitable 4x4 car between grand vitara, kia sportage or toyota rav for driving winter in iceland? (All 4x4 and automotic) Thanks
Shaun it has but the last time was like in 1984 and when had 13 inches of snow..we thought the world was coming to an end..and it was so unusual that the who city closed down..nothing opened and Johnny Carson anoumce on The Tonight Show that San Antonio had snow..we got on the map lol
I love ur country and I want to come there someday lol..I am from Indonesia..don't forget to watch football match between Indonesia against Iceland in Indonesia,Jakarta
I’ve always wanted to go there after seeing The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The problem though is distance and the fact that I am an Aussie chick who loves heat. Snow? Brrrrrrrrrrr! I love Bali for a reason. Panas sekali! 😂😂🌴🌞🏝⛱🍹🍸
That crater WOW!
And then I laughed my arse off at the Star Wars themed bathroom LOL 😂
At 4:39 I remember if you took a left there were airbnb cabins a cafe/bar and a sea arch!

kiltlvr thanks so much. I was kinda scared on that volcano rim to be honest 🤣🤣🤣
Grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup are a staple in America. I’ve had those since the 50’s. Love them.
Sandra James didn’t know that Sandra, perhaps it was a US cafe I was in 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Shaun or someone from America that missed that “comfort food”.
And you dunk the grilled cheese into your soup! =0)
