A true great that wasn’t comfortable being out front. She was a backup singer to Luther Vandross who himself started out as a backup singer.

She’s amazing. And what most people don’t realize it, the delay on her voice, in some instances, is added to the show. Which means, they expect her to hit those notes everytime, flawlessly.

She made a serious career of back-up singing, but you can hear her doing lots of solos if you watch live performances by Luther (Vandross), Tina (Turner) and the Stones because she was featured A LOT by them as they recognized her talent and seemed happy to showcase it.
