For those who haven't seen Claymore, this is as just as out-of-nowhere as it probably seems. A huge team of Claymores are holding down this town and defeating every monster that shows up, they haven't lost a single warrior so far. Then this little dude we've never met shows up, transforms into a man-lion and 1-shots all of the team leaders in a matter of seconds. It's one of the most extreme threat-escalations I've ever seen in an anime and makes Regaldo a very memorable villain despite his limited screen time.
rememeber, rigald was the number one when claymore where male, he got beatn after him and easley awaken, that's also why all claymore are female in the universe of this manga, because male easily succumb to the ascension.
The main character here is Clare so Teresa need to die in order Clare become a claymore. If Teresa's alive Clare would never become a claymore. It's a story about Clare how she become a claymore.she want to avenge Teresa who takes care of her

I can't say I am very fond of current "revivals". Both Shaman King and Higurashi were pretty "eh". Not every anime gets "Brotherhood" treatment, sadly. Of course I would like one (Claymore AND Soul Eater), but it's highly unlikely. I dunno
There is no way a 'revival' could improve upon this because the source material was worse. Too many people hype up the Claymore manga to the point where I wonder if anyone actually read it. It sucked.... it was good right up until exactly this point. Up until the defeat of Rigaldo. After that it goes completely to shit and only gets way worse.

He only intervened here not because his forces were losing, it was the opposite, his forces were GOING to win... no, he intervened because he felt that losing any more of his men to the Claymores was unacceptable. He intended to kill the captains before ostensibly letting his men handle the rest which would be without losses. That's fucking cool. Rigardo was one of my favorites.
Nope. If he let the fight goes on, more claymore will gain more experience fighting awakened beings. Since he volunteered to take over, one exceptional claymore pushed her limits and inspired others. His strategy turns back against himself.
With his experience as a claymore turned awakened male being, he was able to determine which claymore captains contain little to no experience fighting his kind. Quickly taking out the captain who displayed any experience fighting a awakened being should be removed, this prevents anymore male awaken beings from being lose. Inadvertently he didn't have expectations for Claire's abilities until she half awakened and took his arm.
@@Archedgar Saw this anime ages ago but I can sort of remember that being in the anime, that the north mission was straight up just useless and as you said it was a suicide mission, again Im not sure but the Claymores started to doubt and ask themselves of what was the point of being there because of how hostile and yoma infested the north was. Truly a badass character A no-nonsense type of villain - simply entered the scene, transformed, and proceeded to take out 4 of the 5 strongest enemies there with relative ease Only thing he did wrong was ignoring the “small fry” as he put it - he had 2 or 3 solid chances to instantly kill Clare whenever she attacked him But instead he just pushed her away, doing which ultimately ended up serving as his demise
I love this anime, and I just can't understand why this is not as famous as other shonen animes are! I always heard of naruto, bleach, code geass, onepiece and others, even mirai nikki and another, but this anime is totally unknow! Why?? I know it is a 4 year old comment but the anime and manga is very gorey and dark. Not really something kids who watch Naruto, one piece etc would watch so not a suprise that it did not get such a great audience. Majority of people in the west that watch anime and read manga does so illegally. Which means that Claymore could be the most popular anime in the west but because most of the people in the west do not buy the anime or manga then the authors and publishers won't know or care.
By far one the most underrated and under appreciated fight scenes and anime’s of all time. They canceled this anime because the fights got straight to the point and didn’t last 20 episodes like others so it wasn’t as popular. Hate how anime like this gets cut short when other anime’s like one piece has 20 filler episodes between sagas giving a half year of boring content. Claymore manga is great after the Rigaldo saga. The low budget rush to finish the anime against Priscilla and not even feature Easley in a fight is one of the biggest blunders in anime history. Meanwhile boring shows like School Rumble and Fruits Basket are either still going or had multiple seasons
The did pretty well until the last 2 episodes and change the contest between Flora and Claire. Honestly if they could retcon the last two EP's they could pick up from there.
i remember watching this anime when i was 7 years old with my elder sister, im 16 now. and when I grew up, i thought this was a famous anime because the plot was so well-made, and everything about it screams epic. but i was wrong :( claymore is such an underrated anime... it's a shame that not many anime fans knows about this.
The japanese voices are beautiful for these characters. I love how Deneve's sounds, and Helen's is really cool as well. I'm pretty sure Deneve's voice actor also plays Satsuki from Kill la Kill, and Helen's sounds like she's also in Bleach, but I can't remember which character. And that noise at 13:18, we all know that noise. that's the sound of someone coming extremely close to awakening.
The two guys before me are wrong. The dub sucks except for one single thing; They added a distortion effect whenever an awakened being speaks. That was a fantastic change that made them seem very other-worldly and I wish the JP team had done the same. Other than that one & only change, the EN dub is strictly inferior.
Rigardo is such a villainous baddie. Calling his opponents impressive but chopping them to pieces, how he just ignores Claire at 3:18 and that roar is one of the best I've ever heard up to this day!

Man, I KNOW so, the reason he lost in the end was because he severely underestimated the psychological trauma of seeing their friends being slaughtered before their very eyes would have on them. Rigardo never bothered to kill the weaker Claymores first, he focused all of his attention on the leaders. This lead him to ignore Clare until she cut his arm off. Had Rigardo focused on dispatching the small fries first, he'd probably never have lost and the entire force would be decimated.
Now me and my bf everytime we wanna say "more, MORE" instead we say "moto... moto... moto... moto... M0T0" and we die every time. Very impactful part of the story
Even if he is only secondary in the story, Rigaldo remains my favorite antagonist in this manga. Not just for its super cool design, but also for its character. He loves fighting and wants to fight powerful opponents who give him a real challenge. He is not as arrogant as the other Awakened Beings and he knows how to recognize the strength of his enemies and even compliments them (like he does with Clare when she kills him). A demon capable of honor and respect. That's why Rigaldo is a great antagonist.
The thing that pissed me off the most is that they killed Flora. She is a strong Claymore and her Windcutter is almost on par in speed with Flash Sword. She could be a useful comrade in their journey to take down Organization. Plus, it would be so cool seeing her used her Windcutter to take down a Yoma, just like Irene.
Never watch any anime this full of action with such subtle, but great plot. The characters were so realistic that I felt their emotions vividly and like I was there. Manga is finished. If this anime were to conclude, its easily top 3 for anyone enjoys something different than the typical tropes of superhero always wins and has catchy one liners and never gives up
the characters were developed so fucking well in the manga. the interweaving storylines simultaneously happening throughout the duration of the plot was a delight to read, even more so on the second time through. execution of action in the anime is pretty flat but it is done with such mastery in the manga. i love how real the characters felt as people, the emotions and feelings were so VISCERAL and raw. i felt that yagi norihiro had purposeful intention when writing claire as a protagonist. she pulls through in every scenario not because of plot armor but because of who she is as a person, with emphasis on her humanity and human heart. and how the claymores have a bond of sisterhood and shared understanding of their pain, suffering, and trauma, this is how claire just barely scrapes by surviving her life or death encounters. gosh, it is so beautifully written. yeah... ive gotten make video essays or a blog analyzing this manga one day.

Yeah. During this fight she fully awakens and Jean sacrifices herself to bring her back. The fight with Priscilla doesn't happen in the North, and the manga did it better. Hopefully they can pull a Brotherhood with Claymore. I think in the current climate, with updated animation and fights it would be extremely well received.
We ALL LOVE CLAYMORE , the anime is a rare gem! There has to be some sort of sequel ( just alter the last few episodes a bit) or a reboot , WE ALL WANT TO SEE MORE CLAYMORE!
I thought the manga was quite interesting. I called the underlying plot, but only because it was so well constructed I was able to logically put all the pieces into place before the reveal. And the twist wasn't the whole focus, it was more how this secret backstory was influencing all the events, and how the conspiracy was being undermined and backfired on the organization. It left you rather unsure who to root for, even though you knew the truth at that point, as this brutal interstellar war really had no 'heroes' with good intentions. It was only two massively powerful forces throwing their forces at each other for dominance, while experimenting upon their own people. Then the living weapons began to go outside their control.
whats impressive about guts is hes an ordinary human no yoki powers to help hes just pure raw will power and skill. even his berserk armor no ordinary human can withstand the stress it puts on his body
+Mysterious Swordsman clare isn't even half Yoma though. She's closer to being full human than the rest of the Claymores. The DNA that was used on her transformation was thag of Teresa and Teresa was half Yoma, not "full"

The Manga is so much better than this. Rigardo is scared of Claire the moment she is able to control her legs. He is never like omg I am so excited blah blah blah... he is like fuck I'm screwed. He never picks up a big statue and goes RAWWWWR I've won, which I've never understood. Claire has to awaken one arm and part of her "borrowed" arm in order to cut him up, which she does immediately after saving Helen(and Miria) a second time. It's pretty lame how they started charging things to end this after one season.
Well SPOILER In the manga Clare fully awakes vs Rigardo and even has iron tentacles.... in the anime only has her legs, i think she uses her arm to slow but this can be a mistake... in the anime since they invented an ending, clare "saves" his awakening to fight priscilla( acording to manga she would be defeated anyways....)
There will never be a season 2 for this lol with the way they ended the anime with Claire fighting Priscilla just ruins everything. They’ll have to start all over again from the very beginning

Manga sucked. It ends when it finally starts getting good , on top of ending on one of the worst notes I've ever seen in any manga, ever. The anime ended poorly but it would have ended even worse if it kept going. The highlight of the Claymore storyline were the Teresa flashbacks, the actual main story is shit.
Claymore is my favorite anime/manga. I love re-watching it but sometimes I just wanna see a battle scene. Like I already know what happens with Raki blah, blah, blah, just show the battle. now majority of what is associated with anime just has anime girls and waifus that are either disgusting blobs or straight up succubi. or both, simply to seduce and be shallow. i like the writing in claymore. the women were aligned to one pole or another: either being closer to a demon or snake that seethes with hate and destruction, or being a strong, nurturing, loving woman that has capacity to be a part of sisterhood or motherly. one who heals and supports. its funny. the majority of popularized media today has a strong deterioration of morals and values which i believe is by design. maybe thats why i adore claymore and its themes so much. id say its clear to see what our humanity and human hearts should value.

Love the voices of all characters, claymore needs a second season even if the Manga it's finished, it's very likely to Berserk and Evangelion that's why it's so good, dark history, pissed off characters, many good characters who died just like that left you very fucked up haha

Raki aside I prefer the dub.
The two guys before me are wrong. The dub sucks except for one single thing; They added a distortion effect whenever an awakened being speaks. That was a fantastic change that made them seem very other-worldly and I wish the JP team had done the same. Other than that one & only change, the EN dub is strictly inferior.

Rigardo is such a villainous baddie. Calling his opponents impressive but chopping them to pieces, how he just ignores Claire at 3:18 and that roar is one of the best I've ever heard up to this day!

Man, I KNOW so, the reason he lost in the end was because he severely underestimated the psychological trauma of seeing their friends being slaughtered before their very eyes would have on them. Rigardo never bothered to kill the weaker Claymores first, he focused all of his attention on the leaders. This lead him to ignore Clare until she cut his arm off. Had Rigardo focused on dispatching the small fries first, he'd probably never have lost and the entire force would be decimated.
Even to this day, Rigardos roar at 3:38 is the coolest roar I've ever heard in any form of production
I always get goosebumps when I hear that roar. Fucking hell no scream - roar compares to that.

Even if he is only secondary in the story, Rigaldo remains my favorite antagonist in this manga. Not just for its super cool design, but also for its character. He loves fighting and wants to fight powerful opponents who give him a real challenge. He is not as arrogant as the other Awakened Beings and he knows how to recognize the strength of his enemies and even compliments them (like he does with Clare when she kills him). A demon capable of honor and respect. That's why Rigaldo is a great antagonist.

The thing that pissed me off the most is that they killed Flora. She is a strong Claymore and her Windcutter is almost on par in speed with Flash Sword. She could be a useful comrade in their journey to take down Organization.
Plus, it would be so cool seeing her used her Windcutter to take down a Yoma, just like Irene.

Clare has to take the rap for Flora's death there. She lost her cool and left Flora completely exposed when she was supposed to be guarding her.
Never watch any anime this full of action with such subtle, but great plot. The characters were so realistic that I felt their emotions vividly and like I was there. Manga is finished. If this anime were to conclude, its easily top 3 for anyone enjoys something different than the typical tropes of superhero always wins and has catchy one liners and never gives up
the characters were developed so fucking well in the manga. the interweaving storylines simultaneously happening throughout the duration of the plot was a delight to read, even more so on the second time through. execution of action in the anime is pretty flat but it is done with such mastery in the manga. i love how real the characters felt as people, the emotions and feelings were so VISCERAL and raw. i felt that yagi norihiro had purposeful intention when writing claire as a protagonist. she pulls through in every scenario not because of plot armor but because of who she is as a person, with emphasis on her humanity and human heart. and how the claymores have a bond of sisterhood and shared understanding of their pain, suffering, and trauma, this is how claire just barely scrapes by surviving her life or death encounters. gosh, it is so beautifully written. yeah... ive gotten make video essays or a blog analyzing this manga one day.

Yeah. During this fight she fully awakens and Jean sacrifices herself to bring her back. The fight with Priscilla doesn't happen in the North, and the manga did it better. Hopefully they can pull a Brotherhood with Claymore. I think in the current climate, with updated animation and fights it would be extremely well received.

It's been a decade since I've been watching anime. This one easily becomes my fav one of all time it's such a shame it's severely underrated.
We ALL LOVE CLAYMORE , the anime is a rare gem! There has to be some sort of sequel ( just alter the last few episodes a bit) or a reboot , WE ALL WANT TO SEE MORE CLAYMORE!

I think this was probably my favourite fight in the show. He was badass.
I thought the manga was quite interesting. I called the underlying plot, but only because it was so well constructed I was able to logically put all the pieces into place before the reveal.
And the twist wasn't the whole focus, it was more how this secret backstory was influencing all the events, and how the conspiracy was being undermined and backfired on the organization.
It left you rather unsure who to root for, even though you knew the truth at that point, as this brutal interstellar war really had no 'heroes' with good intentions. It was only two massively powerful forces throwing their forces at each other for dominance, while experimenting upon their own people.
Then the living weapons began to go outside their control.

This is by far one of the most underrated animes ever! I would already own this gem... BUT that lil shit Raki just ruined it for me. I hated his lil cry baby ass SO MUCH I just can't sit through the season. His character is why this great anime was cancelled I bet, he's the only flaw I see cause everything else was fucking awesome! Teresa Lover 4 life!!!

The Manga is so much better than this. Rigardo is scared of Claire the moment she is able to control her legs. He is never like omg I am so excited blah blah blah... he is like fuck I'm screwed. He never picks up a big statue and goes RAWWWWR I've won, which I've never understood. Claire has to awaken one arm and part of her "borrowed" arm in order to cut him up, which she does immediately after saving Helen(and Miria) a second time. It's pretty lame how they started charging things to end this after one season.

In the manga Clare fully awakes vs Rigardo and even has iron tentacles.... in the anime only has her legs, i think she uses her arm to slow but this can be a mistake... in the anime since they invented an ending, clare "saves" his awakening to fight priscilla( acording to manga she would be defeated anyways....)

Manga sucked. It ends when it finally starts getting good , on top of ending on one of the worst notes I've ever seen in any manga, ever. The anime ended poorly but it would have ended even worse if it kept going.
The highlight of the Claymore storyline were the Teresa flashbacks, the actual main story is shit.

now majority of what is associated with anime just has anime girls and waifus that are either disgusting blobs or straight up succubi. or both, simply to seduce and be shallow. i like the writing in claymore. the women were aligned to one pole or another: either being closer to a demon or snake that seethes with hate and destruction, or being a strong, nurturing, loving woman that has capacity to be a part of sisterhood or motherly. one who heals and supports.
its funny. the majority of popularized media today has a strong deterioration of morals and values which i believe is by design. maybe thats why i adore claymore and its themes so much. id say its clear to see what our humanity and human hearts should value.
@@jamievioletta yeah. One thing i liked about this anime. Camera dont try to zoom out some specific parts of women to make viewers feel horny , especially when Claire took off clothes in ep 3, she act like every daily routines nothing special, no zooming , no weird angle
