The most aggravating thing about this is that there is no way to restart the race. If you know you messed up early you have to power through to the end just to try again. It adds fuel to the rage.
If you know you are going to not get it (win race), just quit race in the menu and stop her from saying "Aww sorry. But come back any time and try again.".

Correct but unfortunately you get the annoying woman and it takes a while to get back in, rather than an instant restart. Luckily i have got the trophies now so won't have to do it again! P.S i thought the races were quite fun!

Just gotta get to 1st place by the last lap and as long as your in first and quit before 1:35 you get it anyway. I was actually in second place when I quit but I still got it but I'd get to 1st just to be sure
Kelebo III is easy to get the trophie but Rilgar is the hell
it took me 3 hours to get it no joking it was frustrating unlike Kalebo III i got it in like 5 minutes

Cutting corners and turning on invincibility, after getting all gold bolts, is the best advice. Using boost is a no brainer.

These races are so hard. I've been stuck on silver for hours. No matter what I do, whether it's cutting corners or hitting every single blue ring, goddamn Apollo Hiks is always .1 of a second ahead of me. It doesn't help that your boost speed is the normal speed of every other racer. Thanks Skidd for giving me the slowest hover board in the galaxy, that's real nice. Next time die by the sand sharks Idgaf.

+Braeden Conley Just keep at it. It took me more tries than I can remember, but the magic attempt finally came. The 3 main this this video helped me with was 1. Picking up that 3rd boost ring at the start, 2. Jumping through corners and 3. Knowing that messing up isn't the end of it all.
#3 is crucial. All other videos and guides I've read say that if you mess up just restart. Thanks to this video I stopped doing that and I actually completed this even though I messed up right at the end.
+Braeden Conley It doesn't matter how fast you go. Save all of your boosts for the end and thats a surefire way to win. I lost on gold with 1:31 and ended up winning with a 1:36 using that technique
Braeden Conley for me it was a whole different story I never lost any races, but I spent well over 3 hours on this trophy always losing the trophy time by .5 seconds before realizing tricks give you boosts and wanting to shove my head in the microwave

I tried this for an hour then skipped the corners like in this video and got it first try. Putting the game speed on slow in the extras menu also helps.
Dont get too cocky though. 1 mess up and your screwd

Guys, slow the time down, it really helps a lot. I sucked so much at this race but I slowed down the time and switched R1/R2 and L1/L2 (all thanks to another comment here) through game options.

PRO TIP: Speed is regulated by your trigger pressure. If you're having trouble with getting under 135 and you're being flawless, this is why. Go into option and go to control settings and switch R1/R2 and L1/L2. I PROMISE you will crush 135.

+Crimson Ryan Are you referring to the PS2 game? It was a hell to do the 1st time. However I looked for different ways to do it and i managed to get 1:23:13, which is apparently the world record. Now i wish i had recorded it but instead all i got is a fucking 7 second clip of me showing the high score.

Ok, so I have some tips for any one struggling.
1. Menu, Extras, Cheats;
Game Speed Set to SLOW, and Invincibility set to ON
2. On the smaller jumps do one trick, meaning one spin, but on the bigger ramps make sure you press JUMP then SPIN as much as you can without crashing. This builds heaps of boost to use.
3. The most important thing is to CUT CORNERS. When you can, jump and if you have boost use it to cut as many corners as you can it saves so much time, up to five seconds off of each lap if you practise enough.
I kept getting just over 1. 35
But cutting corners pushed my time down immensely, its more valuable than boost imo.

I hate when they put timed racing trophies in games. It’s bad enough when they force you to finish in first place just to progress the story.
A hint! In Extra menu active invincibility and slow game mode. With the ability to be activated you can go through the pumps without wasting time.

How come sometimes when you do tricks you fall off balance and get stalled for a few seconds when you land?
Because he's not making perfect landings. If he landed with his space skateboard facing the ground he would've landed without a problem. This answer is 4 years late but hopefully I was able to provide you with an answer.

This is the last trophy I need & by far the hardest to get, I'm always 15-20 seconds behind on this race :(
I find using the "slow game" cheat ( like 8 gold bolts) helped me a lot, i got 1min32 and i fell off track ;)

thanks since the quit on final lap has been patched this is the best method. Shame i found it after an hour of falling half a second short multiple times

Tips - constantly do tricks, smash as many boxes as possible on your route, and obviously pick up the boost rings. Boosting + jumping through corners saves a tonne of time. Oh and of course slow mode cheat makes it easier. Did it in a 1:32.2
Death barriers make cutting corners in this race a bitch.
Big tip for anyone who might suck as much at these races as I do: Invincibility and slow game speed cheats work. Took me legit 5 tries.
***** Yes, I used both cheats and the trophy still popped. I was skeptical when I saw someone say you could use invincibility, but I tried it, and it worked. Then I thought, "huh, wonder if slow time would work, too." 5 tries later and I had my answer. =P

i know how old this video is but as a tip if you switch the game speed to slow in the cheats menu you can save yourself from a lot of arrows, it makes controlling ratchet much easier
It took me a while, but did it in 1:34:something (think .200 or .300), some advices for players who aren't that skilled as me:
- Get the invincibility cheat (finding all bolts is not that difficult).
- The first part of the race is the same as the video, aim the 3 blue rings and DON'T use the boost until you are straight in the jump after the curve.
- Don't get crazy with the tricks, in a normal jump I just only tap R -> once (does like an helicopter move), in a big jump you can do it twice, if you miscalculated you will not land in a good position and you will lose time.
- And aim for the boxes, boost jumps and blue rings.
- The ideal is always have one boost bar complete.
I know is a not perfect guide, but works for me, I'm not a very skilled player and with this I didn't need to do those big jumps outside the track. It took me like 3 tries to get the time when I figure this out.
For anyone having trouble with this. You don't need to win the race just finish it under the set time and you'll get the trophy. This trophy almost broken me

+ItsBrendanFYI Yeah, in the 2nd lap, most races (but not all) the rings from the 1st lap that I hit are missing and then come back in lap 3
+ItsBrendanFYI It seems that this is a bug. I observed that the changes that rings are not regenerated after the first lap increases to 80-90% when the time of the first lap is close to 30 seconds (but I still managed to get 1:34.00 after rings were not available during the second lap).
I was on 1’37-1’39 for a long time until I saw this. Didn’t know that doing trick can also charge the boost!!

One race I finished at 1:35:08. I was so pissed. Finally achieved this trophy at 1:34 after running the race at 20-30 times.
After like 20 attempts I won the race with 01:34:994!! Yessss!!
I had to retry a dozen times even with slo-mo enabled and kept getting stuck at around 1:40-1:50. This was way more difficult than it should've been

I was thinking the same lmao! My time from beating the Gold cup was at 1:37, thinking I had to do 1:30. But a few tries later I managed to get 1:33

you can use the invincibility cheat once ratchet reacher max health and you can quit and press continue
I had more problems getting this than I recall I had getting plat in Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3... But as with any trophy, keep trying. It will be tough but eventually you'll all get it.
I've now got RSI from doing this - did it a totally different way than you just have to use almost all the boxes and jump + circles you can. Got a time of 1:33
Worth noting: you can get this trophy while in slow game speed mode, made it easier for my feeble mind to handle haha

Wow I didn't think to cut corners, that makes it easier lmao. I did 1:34 without cutting corners so basically a perfect run lol didn't mess up once
Oh my goodness.. I know I’m late to this video. But it took me at least 15 tries throughout the day to finally get this (without using any cheats). Thank you for the tips it was so hard to make sure the run was good, honestly once I make mistakes the run time is messed up by several seconds that could have had me finish. And cutting corners was so risky because sometimes my jump ends up getting me teleported. I’m just so relieved I got this trophy over with.

You can also turn on the "slow motion" speed cheat, gives you a little a more time to break boxes or catch some blue rings. It helped me anyways. Good luck trophy hunters!
Thanks for the help. I was really stuck on this one. I couldn't get close. But reading the comments I saw people mention using a cheat mode to the slow the game down. I finally managed to get this trophy by using the cheat mode. It's a very frustrating trophy without cheating.

Easier said than done. Took me SEVERAL tries, and was my second to last trophy to earn (not including platinum of course). My last trophy was doing the groove on everyone.

After 4 hours I finally did it!
I earned the trophy after failing so many times. It has been frustrating. 1:40 would have been the right time.
Here is some advice (beside the said tips). The track is made up of stretches with boost pads and stretches without. The key is keeping boost for the second ones. So, add as much as you can to the boost gauge (jumping through rings, breaking crates, performing tricks). Don't use it immediately though. Store it until you really need to give burst more than once (long stretches without boost pads). Don't do it if you are too close to ramps you want to jump over or to explosive crates: the burst of speed makes it harder to control the hoverboard. Also, cutting over corners is unnecessary and possibly dangerous, for you may fall off the track.
Use this method, keep calm and you will succeed.
The worst pain is when you get 1.35.025

just got this trophy, my God I think I almost had a heart attavk
I thought everything I hit would slow me down. So I avoided every box. I just used the rings and some tricks and mostly clocked in at 1:37-1:38
2 things.
1) If I go too fast, the rings don't show up on the 2nd lap.
2) I've found that no matter how fast you go you will always be in second place, unless you save either 2 or 3 speed boosts till the very end.
+WolfmanOH Ad. 1) I observe that if the first lap is too fast, then rings don't show up in 80-90% (but not always) - so it may be a bug.
Ad. 2) Indeed - it is a forced "fit to scenario" race. You can win even with the poor time if you save boosts for last moment.

At the start don't go for the ring on the right. Too risky because of shitty collisions and half of the times the game doesn't seem to care if you pass right through it.
Also I did it with the fast game speed cheat. Much easier for me since I find it easy to keep up the rhythm of the jumps.
I managed to do it without any cheats/glitches and man was it rewarding getting that trophy.

Can I please have a scale on how easy the platinum is. Keep in mind I thought the first game was really hard.
I'd say most everything is easy minus this. Also the groovetron on all enemies can be a pain. If you so much as miss one kind of enemy through a playthrough that is part of the story (meaning they only spawn on your very first visit of the planet), you have to do it ALL over again.
A good tip for this is to complete the full game and collect all the gold bolts, then in the extras menu enable infinite health in the cheats. The explosion boxes will not slow you down when you hit them... That's how i was able to do it (1:33.145)..
Lol! I didn't know skill moves gave you boost. Took me like 50 goes to get it without skill moves...

Easy method, Get to lap 3 in under 1:35 and be in 1st place. Then exit the race and you still get the trophy.

Does this seem glitched to anyone else? I keep getting the out of bounds animation when landing jumps, particularly on the last straight. Really frustrating, as not leaving the boundaries of the track.
To all you people saying it's easier then the original it not. The original was very easy for me in both this planet and the other race planet because the race felt much more slower so it was easier to control your hover board. I didn't even needed to do a single trick to get a speed boost to get the skill points or win the race in both race planets. This however is much more fast pace and you need to do tricks to win and there is much more Red explode crates in this new one especially on gold cup and I think the races in this new one might be rubber band but I'm not 100% sure

Doing this on the original game is even more hell since it's not any news that the original first game has ass controls.

They've always made me feel so damn nervous and my adrenaline levels were so damn high!
Even though I've earned 1st place in all 3 of them, I've fell off the track a lot of times and I just did so much mistakes....
Ugh... I guess I'll never go back to those levels....

U can turn on slow game speed and invincibility cheat on the race and turn off at the end.

Health cheat makes you invincible to explosives and slow cheat makes it easier ( i got 1:32 seconds)
This was a bit of a challenge, not helped by the occasional failure of rings, boxes and tricks to give boost and the hoverboard getting 'stuck'. Of course the most annoying aspect was Starlene doing a Mr. Zurkon by repeating the same few short phrases and then standing around looking smug when opting to retry. My time was just over 1.33. The other Hoverboard trophy was rather easy and that is without knowing the existence of the first shortcut.
This was harder than the SIgrun boss fight on God of war XD
I just got done with both races for the RYNO. Hated every minute of it. Only thing I hate about this game. On the first race I always kept on losing by one second, like 10 times. I actually had the same exact time on one race with a racer. I lost but my name was number 1 on the scoreboard. I was pissed. lol. The second race is pretty easy with the two shortcuts.

Yes, this happened for me as well! I was on my last lap, and I knew I had fucked up so I hit "Quit Race" ...BLING! Got the trophy when 'ms-talks-a lot' said better luck next time.
