....still waiting.....for that official Big Cypress SBD release....12-31-99: best concert by any band, ever, and this song was the highlight, IMO (although there are many over that weekend, like the runner-up, Split Open and Melt).
Was an amazing 4 days, but this song on NYE was fucking killer. Felt like the whole crowd was connected while dancing and sweating our asses off. Epic.
According to the Phish Almanac Vol. 6, someone who was timing out the whole show, this started at 2:15 AM. Not bad for early in the morning. Thanx for posting this.
Armbands over 100,000++ were out there. This was the Moby Dick of Phish urinating in our ears, LoL I’m surprised they’ve never gone back to the Seminole reservation.
Incredibly patient...the layers he builds are seemless even as Mike and Fish increase tempo! Just listened to it for the first time in a while and became completely emersed. An all time gem!
Halloween Omni ATL ‘96 was the best night ever the remain in light ‘heads album ..and for sure this part of millennium New Years was tight - biggest party I’d ever been to - my daughter was there in the womb!
Wow. Cool to actually hear a cover of a talking head song. They were so iconic you forget that these were still just songs out there in the world that they wrote. No reason someone else can't do it. It just felt so organic from them I never really imagined someone else doing one.
Xelanderthomas they covered the entire album(remain in the light) this song came from at a Halloween show at the omni in Atlanta. That entire set was a shot in the veins for sure. Absolutely amazing
oh don't get me wrong I was able to catch some good Red Rocks shows in the '90s, and Lincoln '95, as well as 11/17/97 at McNichols, one show in Charleston recently, and then a handful of Dick's since 2019, but I really did miss the tour life@@elaztec.aztecca
the song"Phishing in the southland" a song about falling in love at Big Cypress ,can be found on you tube or facebook at Sean Dobson Hippie Music. peace n love you all
Ok...if TREY...says it was the peak..Big Cypress was the Peak of there career...but There have been many more Seething and incendiary performances of (*Cross eyed and Painless*) than this version....for instance ☆☆☆☆《8/19/12》 Bill Grahm auditorium ,,,,,is a much more aggressive and Faster..Smashmouth,,,.And punchy...assault on the fabric of the songs foundation than this lovely spacier lyrical passageway in the everglades...
This is great but the 96 version with the percussionist playing with them is still my favorite. The jam in this is better, the song in that version I prefer slightly. The percussionist adds so much to the groove and the slightly faster pace just gets me hyped for that version.
Santana’s percussionist Omni Atlanta Halloween ‘96? Right there with legendary y2k cypress Everglades millennium celebration, yeah. Deer Creek Indianapolis July 26,26 ‘99, Lakewood Amphitheater July 4,th 5th ‘1999, Lakewood Atalanta June 22, 23rd 2000, MTSU November’1998, Memphis Pyramid Trey’s bday show 9/29/99, that 20something min 2001 opener was nuts… sprach zarathrustra space oddity . Nashville ‘99 with Jerry Douglas on dobro etc.. hahaha
I was handling a high dosage at the time. So strange in the morning with sleeping folks. Half of us were still standing. Happy 2000! Still waiting, still waiting, …
Major tallent and raw back then, not really cheesey light show, just phans....and tunes...phish...back in the day...not 2 many bands could hold a candle to them...just 2 creative, rock n roll on lock down....flogging awsome
This is the first time I've ever seen Phish play anything. As a huge Talking Heads fan, this is insane!! They killed this. Love their guitar tones.
Smashed it
If you didn't know, they played the entire Remain in Light album on Halloween in 96 - th-cam.com/video/thUbCqYkDog/w-d-xo.html
@@davidburton938 listen that show all the time...so good
Talking heads super fan here , phish actually pull it off , quite well 🕺🏿🕺💃🏻💃🏿🎸⚡️❤️
This is a historical marathon show....if you enjoy this, you tube 11/2/96 version with one of Santana's percussionists for a more high energy affair
This is my favorite Phish jam of all time.
Completely agree.
Totally valid contender, especially considering the end.
What about that RnR tho?
@@ProtozoaSoundthe RnR is no slouch, even more insane that it went RnR, YEM, Crosseyed … all around 2am
@@ProtozoaSound R&R is the one 'big' jam from this festy I never 'got.' Sand>QT is probably my fave.

Everything they played over these 2 days were best versions of the time... then the Radio City Ghost ......
This was at 3 or 4 am...this was the real Y2K, will always be an epic life experience...thanks for preserving and posting 😎
Persevering and posting good call

I love this band so much. I evolve with them. TY for the share ❤
By far the best Phish experience by this 1.0. I don’t see how they can top an all night concert on the first night of a new millennium!!
Armbands over 100,000++ were out there. This was the Moby Dick of Phish urinating in our ears, LoL I’m surprised they’ve never gone back to the Seminole reservation.
Such a patient jam. Completely surreal nite.
Incredibly patient...the layers he builds are seemless even as Mike and Fish increase tempo! Just listened to it for the first time in a while and became completely emersed. An all time gem!
Best ever
Incredible show...road tripped from MA to see it. One of the best overall experiences of my life!

All my respect! Great live version of great track with your own flavour ❤️
Seen these guys when they only had a couple hundred people at a show to this NIGHT!!!!!! AMAZING 👌!!!
Halloween Omni ATL ‘96 was the best night ever the remain in light ‘heads album ..and for sure this part of millennium New Years was tight - biggest party I’d ever been to - my daughter was there in the womb!
What a time!! People thought the world was about end! AHAHAHa!! Here we are!! Go Phish gooooo!!
Thank you for this experience. Best concert experience ever! More then a concert. Incredible...honestly..
No words can capture what this was like.
Yes yes yes
I wish with all of my soul they would do a 25 year reunion.
I’ll never forget this. Magic in the swamp.

Great cover! Loved Talking Heads! They do a great job of this cover
Page is just the best. Good god he's so good. Good lord they're all incredible. Phish is just the best.
Just listened to this entire set at work tonight, WOW, can’t believe it’s taken 18 years to hear this set... I was 15 then.
Peak Phish. Outstanding on all fronts; on all instruments; on all engagements of reality they excelled.
Fully out of this world.

Xelanderthomas Oh Phish covers them alright. And they do it well.

Phish covering Cathy's clown by the is fire.not talking heads but definitely one the best underrated covers Phish has played
Guessing this describes why these ones were dubbed jam bands. Lovely stuff!
I traveled with 13 friends at 19 and we just lost our first one of the crew. This makes me happy but seriously missing one.
god damn!! absolutely smoking!!!
Jon has such a great singing voice...sounds so epic and natural. Wish he had voiced more songs.
I just get jealous when I watch this kind of stuff knowing that I missed so much
Me to my brotha I think we missed it 😢
Same 😢
It was like walking among Gods /. Ecstatic and fearless and amazed at our good fortune.

Where I want to go back to after I take my last breath! Open my eyes and I'm back from my first out of body experience.
First OBE at Big Cypress is pretty gnarly. I saw it on my third or fourth and that was on the recordings safe in bed lol

Forget the 7 hr plus waiting in a car line on the way in... on 75 S
Best time of ever.
7 hours? Those are rookie numbers. I had a 19.5 hour wait getting in.
8 hrs...best traffic jam I have ever been in! Just an epic party with friends and strangers alike, all looking ahead to an amazing experience.
I saw Trey at the Bellagio in Vegas after a Halloween show... He had the same damn shirt on!
Holy shit this is amazing
This was the peak. No question. Tre said this^

Love when they did this talking heads song
First time listening to this legendary jam, maybe its just me but this reminds me a lot of Radiohead's Cuttooth, which was a b-side from Amnesiac.
This rules!
10 min. loop from 12:00 to 19:00
