    Those ribs are a great idea Spence. I had decided that building the walls out was a loss of space that I didn’t want, but seeing your clean electrical and capacity to insulate the walls, I’m thinking you’ve got a great canvas fo build on now. Thanks for the shout out on the glue strategy. I’m especially happy to see it inspired you to fix up that cool electrical cabinet.

      There are so many ways to skin this cat, and I think wasted space is usually a bad idea. So good call on your method! Your bus is really coming together

    • @IanRobinsonGlobal
      @IanRobinsonGlobal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      :) Yeah. My bus gets cold easily tough. That metal on the side walls sucks that cold up and pours it straight into the interior. The furnace is powerful enough to combat it with ease, but the lack of insulation is a real thing. Also, my electrical planning is a rats nest of a situation whereas yours is clean and elegant. Yup, many ways to skin a cat, but watching your videos has given me a better idea for a sharpened knife (so to say). Thanks man, I really appreciate your work.

    You do excellent work. I've quibbled with a few things that I may have done differently. But there are many ways to skin a cat. What I am most impressed with is the quality of your videos. Your narration is top notch. And camera work clearly shows not just what you are doing, but how, which I think is important.

      Nice of you to say! I’d also do some things differently ... but oh well

    when i made ashiko drums some years ago I used to mix wood glue with fine ground maize meal (raw dry maize porridge meal) to a paste and use that to join the drum panels together. It takes in the liquid from the glue and swells out a tad, then when it dries the liquid soaks into the wood and the maize shrinks to create a natural holding and tightening between joins. Since there was no screws involved in attaching the drums panels together this would create a surrogate layer of wood between the panels and it was rock hard... I have used the wood dust and shavings as well and although it works well on small fills, larger holes filled tend to indent once the wood glue dries, leaving you with more filling to be done after the fact...

      I've never heard of the maize meal technique you mention, but it sure sounds promising. I know what you mean about fill not always making a perfect hole .. but with some work and reworking, it can get close to perfect

    I would have put a light in the electrical cabinet powered by the buses battery. So if ya trip a breaker at night ya can see what yer doin.

    Spencer, what are the screws going into on that metal sheet Bus wall?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, most folks use self-tapping screws that you can find at most hardware stores. I happened to have a ton of screws for roofing, which are gasketted, and I used those (only because I had a whole lot on hand). Here's a link: amzn.to/2NkRyZL You can use just about any sheet metal screw, but it's it's not self-tapping you'll have to predrill :(

    there is a video of a bus conversion who took the windows out and rebuilt them to open from the bottom.

      I’ll have to rewatch that one ... makes good sense but I’d worry about water infiltration with that setup...
