Uncle Tony, my childhood hero STEVE MOYER had one. he was the boyfriend of my older brothers best friends sister! DE JA VU!!! i remember after school and for steve after college, him coming around to see DEBBIE and taking a couple of us local kids for rides! getting pinned in the backseat as that hemi kicked in all 8 barrels! thanks for the memories!
I agree with you Tony the burden of ownership of something this perfect wouldn't be worth it. Having to protect it from myself and everyone else would be stressful! I need to drive my cars.
I personally love over-restored cars. And I love when they look stock, but are way faster than they should be, with a FAST series car being the extreme.
I agree. Where it looks completely stock from the factory yet it has today's suspension and drivetrain technology hidden under the metal. And one thing I really like is when it has original gauges, like speedometer, Tach, clock etc. I never got into those digital dashes that started popping up in the 90s. And I get it, they're much better for something you're taking out on the track and trying to be competitive with, but I just love those old style gauges and dashboards
Ahhh..... That gets a definite YES from me. I can just as easily overlook those later 'upgrades' as they are purposeful. Beautiful car all over. I wouldn't want to own it either, I like to drive mine without worrying too.
Imagine waking up on nice sunny spring day wandering out to the garage after breaking with the keys in your hand and opening the garage door to that thing ooooh the joy ! You blow me away with your depth of knowledge and passion UT and how cool is uncle Kathy she says " just buy it " now that's my kinda woman
I don't know how nice that car was before the Resto but somebody did an absolutely beautiful job on it I'd be interested but I'm assuming that cars probably going for six figures
@@bbb462cid You're right, the rear of the door does not line up properly with the body. The body gaps on these cars were never great, but that looks a bit more off than it should be.
My late father bought a new 1968 R/T with a Hemi. He ordered it. It was yellow, with automatic transmission, power steering (requested by my mother) 3.55 Sure Grip and full wheel covers. The Hemi's got plain 15 inch wheels because those were the heavy duty police wheels, which may have been on the D-100 pick-up's too. They were not standard service 15 inch wheels, but heavy duty wheels. They didn't have the Magnum 500 wheels as an option, because those were not made in a heavy duty version. When the R/T arrived and my father was disappointed by its performance. He pulled the distributor and swapped in a dual point Mallory distributor and all was well. We drove that car all over the country and 10 years later, it was pretty rusty, but I was driving it to high school. Direct Connection recommended that the constant voltage, solid state voltage regulators be used with the Mopar electronic ignition. The two field alternators can be used with the mechanical, points regulators, if one of the alternator fields is grounded. I've done that, just by looping a wire from one field connector to a screw on the alternator.
@@sjaywjayw70 The wheels are marked 6.0 next to the valve stem hole for 6 inch width. 68 and 69 Hemi's got F70-`15 tires, 69 A12 cars got G70-15 tires. With the valve stem holes at 12 o'clock, there is an H between the lug holes at 8 o'clock, for Heavy Duty.
I appreciate the fact that uncle Kathy says....go buy it!!!!! And uncle Tony says.....nooooo no lol its way to nice and I can't have things this nice 🤣🤣🤣 that's why most mechanics never own anything that's to nice lol
I grew up with these,,my dad had two,, a 440 car he bought new,, and a hemi car he bought after. The hemi car was burnt orange, with white interior. He put chrome wheels and baby moons on it . To this day it's my opinion it was by far the most beautiful car I have ever seen.
Beautiful ride! My neighbor had a '68 RT coronet back in the 80's, 440 auto gold with a black top and pristine. Traded a 72 black lacquer with gold stripes duster for it at a used muscle car lot. Was just another used car back then and became his daily driver. Only had 30k miles on it and he traded it for a month old fj 1100 Yamaha crotch rocket... I could have kicked his ass haha I gave him a hard time about that until he passed a few years ago. 68 has always been the best looking year IMO
Absolutely beautiful R/T! I had to chuckle when uncle Tony mentioned it had the later style voltage regulator but made no mention of the aftermarket ballast resister right next to it.
I know what you mean about not being able to own a car that perfect. If I owned something that perfect it would own me. I prefer cars that I can enjoy and not stress out about.
Upgrades are ok, as long as they’re tasteful and serve a purpose on a car like this. I’m sure a lot of them were done with drivability in mind, and even Jay Leno isn’t above improvements on cars worth more than my house if it means he can drive them anywhere he wants to go with them.
Aw come on UTony 128 G's is a drop in the bucket. I believe the color is Sunfire Yellow. I have a 69 Coronet 440 with a #'s matching 383 that is the same color. Never thought I would own a yellow car but there is something about that shade of yellow that sets these cars off and I have found that the lady's love this color !
That is one gorgeous 68 Hemi R/T! The 68 Coronet is my favorite of the 68-70 Coronets, and especially an R/T with a Hemi. I wouldn't want to own it either because I would want to hammer it to death and it's too nice for that.
really nice coronet. styling was so clean and it's not a decal plastered vehicle like what was to come soon after. It's subtlety is what makes it cool. (not hating on decal cars, I like them too but understated sleepers are my favorites ).
My favorite of all the B body Mopars is the 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. I much prefer it to the GTX, which cost more new. The Roadrunner just does it for me. I also like the 1969 Coronet Super Bee, but they ruined the front end in 1970.
Yous have such nice looking car's and so much variety, here in Australia, there isn't half as much variety, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Bought a 1968 Coronet Super Bee from a guy in 1969 used with 8K miles four speed 383 Magnum. Same color, I believe it was called Sunflower Yellow. Sure wish I still had it. 😎
Wow...that is a real beauty!! Color is awesome as well. Electronic ignition is better; no Dwell problems. Newer alternator is better. There looks to be a slight irregularity in the door gap and rear sheet metal up near window. Who is selling & how much?
Wow! Beautiful Hemi car. I love these types of educational walk around videos. These details that you are pointing out are the best, thank you. How about doing something similar for a Cuda, Road Runner, Challenger, Dart GTS, etc. Whenever you see a suitable example of course. Thanks again. 👍
I was a kid when cars like this were just used. They were on their 2nd or third owner. None of them had those skinny tires or factory hubcaps. I’d have to change them out. 😁
I have a feeling tony would find something wrong with my all original 70 chevelle except the truck strips were redone in the early 80s and the tires lol
That yellow is a favorite of mine, and it’s a gorgeous car. Without knowing what the issues are with the car, I’m going out on a limb and saying it’s going to be the advance curve in that distributor, it’s going to have too much centrifugal, and those cars like a lot of initial and limited centrifugal. The power brake booster and master cylinder lid should be black.
I agree with you about the caretaker responsibility on a car like that. I have a 68 Super Bee that is the same color and not nearly as nice as that. Mine is nice enough to get compliments but not too nice to drive
Several years back I bought a Trans/Am Indy Pace car from Street Side Classics, it has 34,000 original miles, an 81 model with the 301 Buick turbo, not fast but like brand new! Sure miss that car, had to sell to help pay father in laws med bills cause of the "C" , but they are a very reputable company I recommend!.

Even parked outside for 1 year while I was building my new house and garage, car had frost and rain, wind blowing on it and it looks like a show car still. I did add factory style undercoat but still zero rust or bubbles on the paint.A few rock chips nothing major! The 383 Magnum still runs strong and its done up a little, bullet proof reliable and 12 second 1/4 mile capable with 3.23 gears, but its a sweet driver that sends me back in my seat and chirps 2nd its all I need, plus can smoke them at will on a roll with no brake holding! I dont bag on my keeper cars, dont buy the ones I am selling those get the whole 1970's type movie driving style treatment lol Listen to the Wife and buy it! Life is short!

Aw man I wanted to hear it start up and run!
I feel cheated that they didn't.
Someone knocked it out of the park on the restoration of a gorgeous 68 R/T Hemi. Thnx for sharing and going over it in precise detail Tony.👍👍

Beautiful rolling work of art.
Im with you Tony. It's too nice for me. I need one that's already beat up so i don't feel bad driving it as intended
my first high school car (after the unfortunate vega) was a '68 coronet r/t 440 - thanks for the memory refresh!
Looks like a minor leak from the transmission cooler. I saw a wet spot on the front valance and I think I saw a drop of red fluid.

Looks like every inch of that car has been restored. It’s about as perfect as they come!
Look closer. It's an incredibly nice car however. There's things on this car the factory didn't offer.
