Last year I attended a tribute to the music of Miles Davis/Gil Evans “Sketches of Spain” the line up included great artist, Ronnie and his brother Hubert Laws we part of the band and needless to say it was a great night of music.
The laws bros left their initials all over the cti.lable back in the 70s along with all the other great players in the Era kudos and thanks so much for all the tunes. Godbless.
One thing I really love about Ronnie is he has the same personality as before he was famous. Looking at this clip is like going back in time. He aged well, good lord! Though my earliest memory I was about 6 in his living room and my last time I saw him I was 18 at Dodger Stadium. The Laws Family, bros and sis.and his kids(our families have the same name sakes, talk about friends) My Ma still see's him occasionally and his Wife beautiful, still the same loving wife probably over 43 yrs!!! Cause Im 48 now. I last saw his namesake 2009. Good Lord! Ronnie Jr. is his fathers son. True men of Jah!!
As I listen to his horn he transports me back to the first time I ever heard Ronnie Laws and it's timeless. Thank you for this, I really needed it this morning.
One thing I really love about Ronnie is that he still plays ALL of the horns that made him FAMOUS! Many sax players PAY THEIR DUES on "one" horn and then begin working with another one and just leave their real love behind! I just don't understand!
To be honest I find this version less exciting than the smokin'-but-tropically -rich Milt Jackson version, with not only Millt but also HERBIE HANCOCK, BILLY COBHAM, FREDDIE HUBBARD, and RON CARTER. Boy what a FANTASTIC line-up THAT was, and all 5 absolutely play their GUTS off throughout Milt's Sunflower album. But thanks for sending this anyway. It's VERY tasteful, and so many thanks for sending!! ❤
I don't know who that kid is on the keys, but I do know that he's a force to be reckoned with. Do you guys remember Greg Phillinganes. He did the CD Fairy Tells for Anita Baker. Well that's him on the keys & needles to say that the man is a cold piece of work & so is this kid. Whatever his name is, we'll be hearing him again. Big ups kid 🖤...
OH RONNIE I MISSED YOU AT THE DAKOTA LOUNGE (IN MINNEAPOLIS) THE OTHER DAY. Didn't know you (and TOM BROWNE) were in town till I heard the DJ announce it, AFTERWARDS! aaaaaahhhhhh!
I'm feelin' you Ronnie!! I hate playing by the water cause it will affect the way your axe sounds, responds and even feels. I can see what's going on with his soprano and I can actually feel it cause It has happened to me not a good feeling, especially with my sopranos. But, once the tune starts, as a pro, ya just gotta work through it. Do your thang Ronnie!!!!
Ronnie laws was the Style of 20 Centry as Ryme and Blues saw most applicable among people of Color gave use Selfest and focus on relative in and recreating wisdom in Idea of living for future Growth !
@livegigvideo1 Thanks for the info...God willing..I hope to attend a Smooth Jazz Festival concert....looked like everybody had a good time. These cats were OFF THE CHAIN!
True story: Ronnie is so great that he made my hysterical girl dog calm down after seeing other dogs!! Ronnie is a.MASTER bcuz My Precious ( my dog) is s.HELLION! 😆
If the term 'smooth jazz' has an existence, then its embryonic life must go to Ronnie (and, of course, Grover Washington).listen Ronnie's 'Fever',1973 -there about. Najee, Beasley,Kim Waters,Boney James, ...are soprano influencees OF Ronnie's (and Grover's.
Great Jazz performance of the classic and realistic more than just a song "People make the world go round." However, Goddesses and Gods make the earth fly, spin and move through the universe with a counter revolutionary spin.
Saw Ronnie Laws & Angela Bofill double bill in Chicago years ago. Wonderful concert. I feel that RL never truly got the accolades. Nothing against Kenny G but that's where the hype was directed.
Before Boney James, before Kirk Wylum, and these new cats it was Ronnie Laws and family 👪 Man!.......
And of course before KENNY G … who it seems he got a major part of his sound & vibe from RONNIE LAWS … (& GROVER WASHINGTON )
RONNIE LAWS …… & GROVER WASHINGTON …. Iconic Greats
He got me through my stint in the US Air Force where I was miserable in an isolated area.. Ronnie Laws saved my essence.

The piano player's solo is dangerously brilliant.
Bless you!!! Thank you for your kind words!!!
Top quality stuff; now that's what I call a keyboard solo
Una musica così l'ascolterei tutta la notte.
E molto bella ,ei componenti musicali sono molto bravi 😊
Oh My God! THE PIANO SOLO... All praise glory and honor..... Thank You Lord For That Piano Solo......
I'm still thinking but I can't find the words to describe the beauty of this rendition.....
Ronnie is was and always will be the man!!
He learned well from his older brother Hubert.
Saw Mr. Laws play this live in Columbus, Ohio a few years back. Jean Carne was with him.....a great show!!!
Jean Carne!
tight, smooth, and absolutely delicious. these are some flat out masters right here.
I love Ronnie Laws' music !!!! He is so underrated to me. His pandora station is amazing. He has so many hits 🤩 This is timeless music
Classic music like this, makes the world go round. Nothing better than great jazz to relax the mind, heart and soul.
Great music music Play by musicians

Serious business. Mr. Laws is layin' down the law here real nice and refined. The entire band is pure punch and harmonic dynamite.
Richard D. Ruttenberg well put!
I miss my Detroit Brothers.
Rip Carl Holmes.
Incredible ! The Brother on keys, I'm speechless...
Thank you!!!
I have several "vocal" settings on my Kurzweil. His playing has opened up many new ideas for me. thanks.
Ronnie The Man. So Talented and Respectful to Others and "HIS" Music.
I thank the Universe for you and thanks for sharing your smooth jazz with us.

I love old school. Music
The drummer...wow! tasty and in the pocket!
Crisp, funkedelic. Drummer is the Pits. Korg guy is again pretty inventive..Best rendition of the Stylistics classic I've ever heard
How is the Drummer "the pits"? He's keeping the pocket tight & adding flourishes.
@@jonsmith848 the “pits” means he’s really good;; he’s “down “. Get “with it” , Jon!
@@jonsmith848I guess now 'the pits' means like 'badder than bad' lol!!

Brillent. Drummer has played for Mr Earl Klugh
that explains it. That the tightest drummer I've ever seen play.
WestSide Connect Gang Dropped the Sample 😉

This is TIGHT.
This looks like Big Bear California. 4000 feet elevation. The sound is more pure. No more!!!! ☹️
I thought I was an oddball for really liking that song but Ronnie likes it
Very nice
Sweeeet sound!
Played Drum roll at 3:16 several times. Great stuff!
This sounds great. I wish the audience wasn't so loud.
To me, Ronnie Laws can make a soprano and sopranino sax talk!!! He is like Gene Ammons/Johnny Griffin on the tenor
Improve is one thing, but to completely change the song is another.
awesome..................... :D
Music that’ll make ya start a conversation with that beautiful lady seated across the room. She knows...
Keeping you posted about what life
Glad you didn't teach me how to be this good sounding

Grover Washington , David Sandborn and Ronnie Laws....need i say more...
Ronnie 👌👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ronnie had some of Parker & Sons BBQ when he came to Geneva on the Lake 2019.
Who's that killer drummer?
