and the three of them are connected too!! i think taylor did sort of intend for them to be read in that order, but it’s really subtle and you don’t actually have to go tshoeh, djats, mr (i didn’t realize there was that quiet organization so i read mr before djats)
@@_sty__le7433 yes in some sense, its about the children of mick reva who has a brief cameo in Evelyn Hugo. It follows past, mick meeting the mother of the kids (blanking on her name) and the present day, following all the kids during one day in the present, the day of the infamous house party thrown by Nina, the oldest daughter. Hoped that helped, its been a minute since I read it though haha!
I can’t believe Taylor Jenkins Reid found out there had never been a good rock novel, so she put aside her fears and wrote the great rock novel we need. Iconic. Goals. Amazing.
Honestly the best story I have ever come to know. I’m completely, utterly obsessed with everything about it - the book, the audiobook, the series. It just gets better and better. What a work of art.
I had heard so many good things about Daisy Jones and the Six - to the point that I was worried my expectations were too high. But worry not - it really is that good. Daisy Jones & The Six is such a detailed and well-accomplished oral history of a fictional rock band in the 1970s that you have to remind yourself it's fiction. I have nostalgia for the Los Angeles scene in the seventies and the sunset strip and the heady parties held at Chateau Marmont. I love that music - Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, I loved the story and the telling of the rock music journey from an idea for a band to super stardom. I want to know Daisy Jones, I want to hear her music. When I finished the book, I suffered immense grief at the loss of the world that Taylor Jenkins Reid had painted. Before I read this book and before it was even published it had been bought by Reese Witherspoon's production company to turn into a television series. Bring it on! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thank you so much the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary electronic copy in return for an honest review.
Reid thought that the lottery was the only explanation needed of the draft, but I was conscripted out of law school so it was far more complex. But otherwise she did a decent job of portraying the rock scene of the era.
Reading it right now & fell in love with the story like 3 pages in. Can't wait to see where this story takes me. It's the 3rd novel of TJR that I am reading this summer & she quickly became one of my new favorite authors.
I picked this book on a random I had heard about it being good it and I picked it up just to see if it caught my interest and I found myself 30 some pages later I had fallen into the world of the story this book is so good. I finished it a couple of minutes ago I gave it 5 stars. It will definitely have you in the feels the whole time but mostly the second half of the book and near the end.
You should read "clothes music boys" by Viv Albertine from the Splits if you want tl read about her experience as a women in a rock girlgroup in the 60. This book is really different but it made me remember some things about the novel/biography I just mentioned... I really like this type of books, women in the rock world. Tins Turner biographies are also okay
It is a very nice story I like it a lot! But do you realize the California music as descripbed Joni mitchell, crosby still nash, fleetwood mac most of all mentioned are not from california! 😂
evelyn hugo: 60s
daisy jones: 70s
malibu rising: 80s

carrie soto is back: 90s!
I liked the 60s setting best
Without spoiling what is Malibu rising about ? Is it in the same vein as her other two novels where it’s historical fiction?

Hope you've heard it now that it's out
It's actually on Spotify - at least in France it is.

Mick Rivas is in seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and in this book too! So funny this details!
He’s in her short story ‘evidence of the affair’ too! And apparently her next book is to be set in the same world and I can hardly wait
Written as an oral history was amazing. The audio book is emotional and you feel like you are right there during the bands hey day! Love it 😊

I have not read the book loving the show. Seems a lot of inspiration from Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. The song Look at us now is catchy.

i have a question: Taylor Jenkins Reid WHY did you decided to DESTROY me with this book?
My dream is to see when Hollywood will be creative again and stop making adaptions of EVERY SINGLE FUCKING BOOK!!!
She looks like elvis
you look like you are related to Elvis
Lesbian
Book sucks.
