Ever since my mom had her fireplace installed in her custom built home back when it was built in 2003, we never got a chance to properly use it, because of a leak somewhere in the chimney. Rainwater would drip down, more on heavier days. Plus, we still need to get the rest of the gas kit for the fireplace, including the ceramic logs.
How do I do it? My gas fireplace is original to the house approx 25 years. It's in perfect shape and works at the push of a button. I see the later models have a fan that captures heat from the inner walls of the fireplace and sends it into the room which would be great for us because the ceiling is vaulted to about 18 feet, and that's where the heat collects, but most of the heat goes up the chimney. There are places that sell fan kits to blow that heat into the room, but the fireplaces have an inlet grate at the bottom of the fireplace, and a grate at the top of the fireplace where the heat comes out as a result of the fan blowing. My fireplace has a solid metal panel top and bottom with no inlet or outlet openings, but it does have some vertical narrow grates along the side of the fireplace on the left and right sides. I'm handy enough to cut in top and bottom grates in the existing solid metal panels, but my question is, will this work after a universal fan kit is installed?

We have a natural wood fireplace. Every time we burn a fire it’s great! But then for WEEKS the room smells so strong of fire and I can’t figure out why. Any tips?

people, stop putting your TV above the fireplace! (1) it's not comfortable to view, it should be lower (2) the heat will damage and reduce the lifetime of the TV

@@eyehear10 safe to say you have never had a camp fire. Roasted marshmallows? Hotdogs? Coffee percolator? A wood fireplace in a home? Gas heats wonderful, but wood gives the show. Nothing more satisfying than building a fire.
I'd take even an ounce of Tommy's skills....dude is so good at his job
Great work, but personally I preferred the natural brick fireplace surround and original hearth to the new granite they installed.

I love my wood fireplace, hands down the most decorative way to pipe heated air out the top of the chimney.

Yeah, it turns out, the chimney cap was one that was poorly designed for our area.

As far as I’m concerned Heat N Glo make the best gas fireplaces and Quadrafire make the best wood burning.
Wonderful item smell of gas a bit upon ignition after that works well . Over powers my home great item
If they are maintained every year people wont have expensive fixes.
