This brings back so many happy memories for me. I used to make these over 40 years ago and spent every single penny I had on them. I didn't have any fancy Dan glue, snips, tweezers, files or spray guns but I loved making the Airfix and later the multicoloured Matchbox models. If memory serves they used to cost about 1.90 back in the mid 70s. Some day soon I must try to make one again. Well done, you're a hard act to follow.
I used to do these as a kid. Unfortunately I never had the resources to aquire the master tools available in the video. Pretty much anything outside a knife, some glue, sanding paper and popsicle sticks and toothpicks were not affordable. But it was so reassuring seeing that I still used such similar techniques as this builder, even with the limited resources available to me as a young teen. Pretty cool.
I SO appreciate you wearing gloves. Many modelers do not seem to realize (or care?) that they deposit oils and acids every time they touch a model. Love your work!
@@PaulSvk84 I did a model of the hynd attack helicopter and primed it then I spray painted it with a light sand brown then I dipped a thick loose paint brush into a dark brown acrylic paint and blotched the brush on all over...I wish I had an uploaded picture of it...it looks awesome..Then I clear coated it with future floor shine...CHEERS MATE!
Wonderful to see it come to life. When I was a kid in the early 70s Revell was considered inferior to Airfix. I think at the time you got less parts so it was more basic. It was OK to start on but we all wanted Airfix at the time. Times change. The local shopkeeper who stocked the models use to tell the mums and dads that the Chipmunk was the best to start on. Anyone remember that? We suspected he just had 50 Chipmunk boxes out the back he couldn't shift. Happy days.
I was thinking to myself while watching you paint the camo pattern that it could be better and than you started applying the winter scheme and I was BLOWN AWAY by it. Bravo!
Holy Crow! I never knew there was a channel like this. I and my brother spent half of our childhoods building models like this. Unfortunately,we never possessed the tools(specifically the airbrush) used here. We had to rely on self-leveling paint to eradicate the brush strokes. And I must say that it worked for the most part on even the smoothest surfaces. Boy, I'm going to be watching more of these.
When I was a kid, I had an entire ceiling full of hanging model airplanes. That was about 40 years ago and this video makes me want to build some more. I never grew up actually, I’m still that kid that loves airplanes and could totally get into this again. Nothing has changed about these kits, they look the same as they did 40 years ago, what a trip down memory lane this is.
1/48 is big. I came up in coastal Va. in the late '60s as a kid & models ruled then. No malls, hobby shops, and maybe BX's on military bases is where you'd find them. Department stores. Cars where popular, the eclectic had ships to choose from, but I liked airplanes. My first was a B-47, probably from Revell. Monogram being its competition, for the most part back then. But I could never build 'em pretty, pretty as the displays with models one would see back then when aviation was popular. Blowing 'em up with fire crackers was fun, same as shooting at them with a BB gun. But, some did hang from my ceiling, in imaginary dogfights. Over time one moves on to other endeavors, it's been decades now since I've smelled the tube of glue & built a model. With modern aviation video games, the IL-2 series being the one I'm familiar with, I feel as if I'm flying these model airplanes, with all the bells & whistles a video game throws in. One can explore much more in depth and I know the Ju-88 inside out now through these games. The best of both worlds in a way.
That looks AMAZING! I used to make model kits years ago, but the details on the mouldings look alot more detailed these days. Love ur attention to detail!
@@konradalexander7561 well.. i don t like very mu h to answer on a video thats not mine (no disrespect intended for you nor for Dusan) but ok.. i use X22 and i like it a lot
I really love when builders use "real settings" in their work, instead of painting directly white, first they use a normal camouflage and then paint another pattern above the original one, like those warbirds were really treated during a change of scenarios during the war. AWESOME BUILD and video too mate!!!
Great video In the 70s my brother built some great 1/48 model planes. But we never had such great extras like the masking. We'd free hand paint all the canopies. Also, did a few naked ladies on the TBYs & B-25s.
Now just got this one. I usually paint with different paints...but you inspired me to use the wretched revell enamels with airbrush. Got a standard celluose thinner and they work very nicely :)
I buyed it already, itś beautiful so it will help me to finish the three schnnellbomber collection: I got already a DO 17Z-2 and a He 111 H-6 torpedos one...now the Excellent JUnkers Ju 88 A-4 !!!
Lovely model. Very very well painted! I read another review which stated this model was lousy fit. But watching this build, everything looks fantastic.
No black basing, no pre-shading, no post shading? Winter camo........ah I see! Amazing build as always, I love the style of videos you produce the editing and processes you show are first rate, I've referenced them for a few builds of my own, keep up the good work!
Another great video build, you make it look so effortless, your definitely one of my top modellers on TH-cam , as I have only been modelling for about 2 years I get a lot of good tips from all the videos you show so thanks and keep safe 👍👍
This is Revell's reboxing of the ICM Ju88A-4 kit. Much better kit than the older Dragon moldings. Might have to get one. Or 8. I recently bought the all-new Revell Bristol Beaufighter TFX, a new all-Revell mold, and it obsoleted the Tamiya version immediately on it's release. Get one today! Excellent work on those builds, all of them.
Another gorgeous job. I wasn't sure why you added the winter camouflage after you went to all the trouble of painting on the regular camo, but it turned out great.
I have been meaning to watch this build for a few days, and I finally watched this morning, and I'm very glad I did, It was a fantastic build, thanks for sharing.
Alot more detail than my Revell Pro Modeler kit came with even though it was supposed to be a night fighter but had all the A4 pieces too, excluding the external bomb racks.
@@ScaleModelAircraft There's a Me 109 too . Untouched but unfortunately upside down 45 meters deep a little farther . The pilot explained that he had to make an emergency landing on the water after having been shot by a gunner of the U.S bombers he was attacking .

I thought it was amazing with the base camouflage - then you made it even more incredible with the white wash - must take a very steady hand and a lot of guts to do that winter camouflage
First off that is a spectacularly nice job you have done on the Junkers! (I have this kit and the ICM Ju88A-5 in my stash, along with about a dozen various Dragon Ju88s and 188s.) I do have one small point to offer: Are you using Tamiya XF22 for the RLM02 interior color? You should be aware that XF22 was developed as an armor paint, specifically for German army FeldGrau (Field Grey), the uniform color, and not as RLM02. All is not lost: If you add flat white to XF22 (1 part XF22 to 2 parts white) you will get a very close representation of true RLM02, which was a coloured primer paint, sometimes used as an exterior camouflage color also. From the bottle, XF22 is far too dark and green. If you have any, compare XF22 to Xtracolour RLM02, which is also a good representation of the hue and tone of RLM02. Hope this is of some help.
Aurora once made a 1/35 scale B-25 it was YUGE! Apparently it had once been a flying model as it came with engine mounts for gas motors and pins for the control surfaces on the elevators.
Awesome! Good job! I like the way you installed the dive brakes in the deployed position. The Ju-88 is my favorite Luftwaffe bomber. I’m getting this kit ! 🇩🇪👍👏

There was no comparison to the Mosquito. The Ju-88 was larger, heavier, had twice the crew, weighed more, had a smaller internal bomb capacity, had a lower service ceiling, and was over 100Mph slower than the Mosquito. Other than that, it was great.

philiphied me too till now I got into it again and I got all the proper tools now my models come out really good
I used my mom’s nail clippers and nail files when I was a kid ...
yeah right!
They did kits a little friendlier for kids back when as far as parts off off sprue. I remember no tools except glue. Ship models I never even painted.
I don’t know what I’m more impressed with, your skill, or the hobby shop.
I SO appreciate you wearing gloves. Many modelers do not seem to realize (or care?) that they deposit oils and acids every time they touch a model. Love your work!
Doug, thank you very much! All the best! 👍
I used to do that back in the 90's until I learn 3d modeling but I have to say those were the most relaxing afternoons ever.
Great job. Kind of bittersweet seeing that awesome original camo job covered up though.
The original camo was a work of art. Similar to modern day splinter camouflage.

Yeah, my thought
It made me so sad to see the excellent camo paint covered in white :(
I was going to post the exact same comment!! Why even bother with the perfect camouflage in the first place if you’re just going to cover it??

WOOD BUTCHER Where do you get them?
Only humans can invest so much labour for fun. I adore you. Never could build any model properly myself.
Why is it when this guy cuts parts off the sprue they don’t go flying off into a dusty, dark corner somewhere?
Ikr lmao that always happens to me xd
Then they completely disappear into another dimension where there's odd socks as well.
Very relatable
