So I caught the end while I was at lunch. After thinking about it a bit it kinda reminds me of threads I've seen on reddit with an instant death. Iirc they all seemed to have gone into dev mode and cleared a bite at some point in the run. I think maybe there's a bug with that, like it's already killed you, but it's waiting for you to take any sort of damage to trigger it. At any rate, I learned a lot from watching this run while I play my own. So thanks!

You actually may be right. I have never used debug before. I'm guessing that is probably what happened

This is exactly it. People on reddit will have a similar post about instantly dying, and the first question every time is "did you debug away a bite?" And every time that's the case. The game, I guess, treats you as "zombified" after the first bite, so the second you re-enter that state, it's immediate zomboid.

Not on this one. Look at the last part of the stream before this. There was a bite from a bug and everyone agreed it was a bum way to go so we went to debug mode to lose the bite. If this had been instadeath, I would have died instantly.

I did...it sucked going out that way BUT I really think (put on your tin foil hat), that the longer you live, the more likely your first scratch/laceration will kill you anyway. It seems like I can go for a month or two without any scratches and then the first one will kill me but if I get scratched or lacerated within the first week, I'm usually okay.
