- Geno had moments of promise and displayed his athleticism and arm talent When the Jets were turning heads earlier in the season and scoring points at an alarmingly rate, they were generating most of their offense through big plays down the field-which, of course, take time to develop.
Turnovers: Geno Smith had the worst game of any quarterback that season against the Bills. Throwing 8 passes, 2 of which were completions and 3 were interceptions. Which ended up getting him benched, but it was too late to save the team.
Off-Field Issues: A woman with whom Smith was romantically involved leaks a photo of the him.
Media Criticism: Media coverage of Smith's shortcomings amplified negative perceptions and contributed to fan dissatisfaction.
Playing in New York comes with high expectations and intense media scrutiny. Smith's inconsistent performances led to increased pressure from fans, media, and critics. This added pressure could have affected his confidence and ability to perform consistently.
Developmental Issues: Some quarterbacks take longer to develop their skills and adapt to the NFL. I believe Geno needed more time and patience to mature as a quarterback, but the high-pressure environment of the NFL often doesn't allow for extended development periods especially if it affects the entire team. The Jets went through multiple offensive coordinators and systems during Smith's time with the team. Constant changes in coaching staff and offensive schemes can hinder a quarterback's development.

The colts? If the colts had a qb since 2018 they would have been a playoff team every year. We got the remnants of Phillip rivers and Matt Ryan. I think now that AR is hurt they should sign cam newton, perfect guy to mentor AR, and not only that he gives them a better chance to win then minshew who I think is a good qb, but not a full time starter

Anyone who roots for ANY player in the NFL to blow their ACL is another level of evil. As a Seahawks diehard, i remember throughout the years hearing awful things about Geno Smith and i always felt so bad!! Jets fans were absolutely ruthless....despicable. I always felt good knowing he was our backup for Russell and I was so PROUD as a 12 to watch him make his comeback campaign last year with us Hawks and no QB is perfect and the seahawk fans that are hatin' on him because hes had some bad throws/moves/plays this season irritate me. Bro thank you for this video. As a Jets fan, I used to feel like the only one advocating for Geno and the unfair situation he was put into, this man literally won us games we had no business being in. Fought tooth and nail just to be crucified by his own fanbase for going thru growing pains. Im making a retrospective on this era of the Jets on my other channel and Id kind of forgotten how loud the media was about hating on him. Good on him to bounce back like he did, and glad to see I wasn’t the only one who thought it was a bad hand 🃏 not a bad player

Geno also had some growing up to do. GENO determined his own fate. When he grew up, accepted coaching & worked the hardest then things changed. It’s called life. No one gets the world handed to them.

The Jets are the Bermuda triangle of quarter backs. Brett Favre sucked there, all the draft picks fail and Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles. I don't fault Geno at all for what happened in New York, I am just glad he continued to work hard and not give up.
