Paul my lad, you are still the master of both clubs and meels. And the Flowing Dutchman is close to the mark. You two are the dynamic duo. Kudos!

I have seen videos of a Silat teacher (Maul Mornie) teaching machete strikes and the Meel shoulder movements look very similar.

I would imagine that someone who trains meels and Silat would be able to clear an acre of brush with a machete faster than a tractor could! 😆

Those Victorian Gymnasiums which utilised callisthenics from ancient India,Persia and Greece and athletics were very effective indeed.

Northern India was invaded & occupied by the Persian empires many times(before Islam & after Islam). As the result many of the Iranian traditions were exported to Northern India (Hindustan).

Northern was never occupied, only some parts of western india.

It's also strange that persians and indians met in clandestine 'clubs' where they would swing clubs.

I don't know why this is called persian mills? This are Mugdars... there are huge number of evidence and detailed videos in TH-cam... of its origination from the culture of Sanatan Dharma... and from the land of Bharat... all our Prominent deities like Yamraj, Bajrangbali... and Supreme deities like Narayan all have Gada as a weapon(a variant of clubs or mugdar)... which is clearly depicted in our scriptures too!

After Arabs invasion to Iran (6 centuries) Some Persians Immigrated to India. So, they transferred their custom to that country as well as Zorkhaneh

Such a miyopic view of history.
We have archeological evidence of INDIAN clubs of at least 100BCE.
Persia's culture was surely influenced by Indians, as Indians arrived in Egypt around 4000 years ago.
