    I fell in love with Elvis's voice in 1956 when I was 11 years old......I;m gonna be 79 soon and I see no reason to change my mind......his range is incredible, from Santa Lucia to Chuck Berry's Promised Land......There is nobody like him, he is totally unique......there's Elvis then there's everybody else.

    I think it was the Col who made sure if elvis recorded a song then they got 50 percent of the publishing rights . Now many artists were OK with that because elvis recording there song was an automatic cash cow . Dolly wanted to keep it . That's totally fine it was her song

    • @MsRhodeman
      @MsRhodeman 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I seen an interview of Dolly on TH-cam where she answered the question about turning Elvis down to sing I Will always Love you... What most people don't realize is that she didn't turn Elvis down she turned down Colonel Parker because she told Tom she would love nothing better then for Elvis to sing her song but when Colonel Tom came to her and told her well you know Elvis don't say nothing that he don't own the rights to she said oh no I can't do that!!!!❤
      Colonel Tom was such an azz

    Hi coach! I had never believed it when my professor in college, both a musicologist and professional symphony musician, himself, told me that he viewed Elvis Presley to be the greatest overall singer of all time. "Why?," "What the hell?," so many of us said? With him first going on to ask what's Frank Sinatra's greatest and/or signature song? "My Way," someone eventually said and then the professor proceeded to show us various polls from over the years which listed Sinatra as the greatest singer ever. Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin were also on top of some, and Elvis, too, on a few. But the point of the exercise was to simply show us Sinatra was considered by many, though it's subjective, to be the greatest.
    The class then listened to Sinatra's "My Way," and then Elvis' version, back to back. With the room being roughly split as to whose version was better, "which proved what I thought?" But then the professor showed us Elvis rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from the Elvis 1968 Comeback Special. With the point ultimately being that regardless of whose version of 'My Way" you preferred, Elvis was right there, totally at home playing in Sinatra's backyard for lack of better parlance.
    But as to Sinatra playing in Elvis' backyard, he said, it couldn't be done, as he said "[i]magine Sinatra, (who he totally loved) trying to do that rock number?" Then going on to say that he had found no singer who had ever sang more genres, more majestically, than Elvis, & he challenged us to find out for ourselves by looking at his full catalogue of Rock, Pop, Soul, Country, Ballads, Gospel and more.
    And, when done, I admit I became a convert who was so, so doubtful, at first, I can't even begin to tell you. But from rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from that Elvis 1968 Comeback Special, to singing about the dream of humanity coming together with "If I Can Dream," from the same show, I believe you will see what I mean. Elvis even had a voice that could be operatic if you go and listen to 'Hurt' and his version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" will tell you why he has also sold more gospel records than anyone, as well as just tons more, overall. But, with pop and 'Such A Night' to a ballad such as 'They Remind Me Too Much of You,' he did it all, and so, so damn well. While for soul, check out 'Long Black Limousine' or 'You're Wearin' That Loved on Look' which is a bit of another number. Because as Elvis' one album cover says, there's 'Something for Everybody.'
    Also, and if ultimately you don't think Elvis is the best, that's totally cool as there really is something for everyone!;-) Great channel and I wish you the best!!! ~ Christopher Tyler
    P.S. Those recommendations are only, quite literally, the beginning!

    It was not Elvis, it was his greedy manager Tom Parker who was a curse to his movie career and took 50% of his earning. Elvis was so poor and just wanted to get his family a home of their own, and when Tom dazzled the 19 year old with dreams of making a million dollars, he was dazed with the thought. His mother hated Parker from the beginning, telling Elvis' girlfriend, "If Elvis signs with Parker he will be dead by forty", wasn't she right? She knew Parker would work him to death and take his money.. Thanks for this great reaction, there will never be another like this beautiful man. Be Blessed

It shows just how human Elvis was as he cracks up seeing the bold man in the front row .... Well just watch and it will all be explained .... And yes .... Whitney Houston's mom did sing with Elvis .... But only for a five weeks Engagement .... But the group .... The Sweet Inspirations stayed on with Elvis .... Cissy left because she wanted to be at home with her family .... And so listen to this as Cissy is the one .... That keeps singing and Elvis says " Sing it baby " to her .... As Elvis can't stop laughing .... Elvis had a laugh that could spread like wildfire once it started .... See if you yo start to laugh .... th-cam.com/video/WoqVFEE1UBY/w-d-xo.html

    Elvis generally received a large percentage of the royalties on the songs he sang, but he was known to give up them rights to sing a song he wanted, like Suspicious Minds and In the Ghetto

    Elvis never asked for the rights, his manager did. Elvis should have gotten more involved in the business side of thing. He should also had worked on writing songs. As great as Elvis was (The goat IMO) he could have achived even more !

      @@coollady2179 100 agree, and many other singers have songs written for them too. But I think Elvis could have lived longer if he had involved himself more in that side of things.

    Why does everyone bring up the fact that Elvis didn't write his songs like he's the only singer that didnt. Whitney Houston never wrote a song either did Celene Dion or Beyonce..Rhianna..Frank Sinatra..Aretha Franklin Diana Ross or Marvin Gaye and the list goes on. ...so I don't get why Elvis is the only one that gets called out on it.....
