- Before you get a puppy, be sure that you have things set up right at home. A little early planning can help you and your puppy get through puppyhood with minimal stress, accidents and the wrong things getting chewed up.

I think the floor covering idea is brilliant. I was thinking of using a shower curtain but the vinyl looks so much better. I have large tiles and it’s a pain getting poop out of the grout. Thanks for sharing.
I know! I personally think when the puppy is going to bed you should put like a bed sheet that smells like you, so the puppy could smell you while it was sleeping. Or have a blanket that smells like you and put it on the crate. We did that for our lab puppy, and she was quiet all night.
Amazon has huge washable pee pads I currently use for my puppy's play pen, it does not soak thru either. She's being trained to potty on pine pellets so she has not had any accidents on the pee pad yet. If she does it is easy to wash.

Had this setup (minus the plastic) and left him in it for the first time today. He climbed out. I’m assuming he made his way to the top of the cage because I just increased the pen size from 30” to 36”.
How do you get the puppies out if the door of the pen faces the crate?
Do you recommend getting in the pen with the puppy to get them used to it?
I have a separate kennel she sleeps in at night. We have a pen that size with a huge washable pee pad on the floor and in the huge kennel we have a litter box with pine pellets in it . It took two days for her to get it and now she goes potty in the pellets every day and she's 8 weeks old , this is her first week home. Pretty proud of her going potty in the pellets, so easy to clean and does not leave any smell. When she gets her second round of shots , she will be taken for walks to go potty and I will spread pine pellets on the grass for her to get the hint to go on the grass, I also have a well trained big sister for her to show her to go in the the grass as well.
Are the clear plastic panels plexiglass or some other cheaper plastic? Thank you.

Did you file the edges of the Plexiglas? Wondering if you were left with sharp edges after cutting them.
I can't find the separate video on the tied toy, but I'd be very afraid a puppy would somehow get its neck tangled in that string and strangle itself.

I am setting the ltca up for new puppy that I am getting. It will be in our family room in the basement. Instead of a hard floor to put on my carpet I purchased a washable pee pad. I purchased a portable pet loo to use instead of puddle pads. Do think that will work okay?

How do you keep it from folding while the puppy is in it?
I have a chocolate lab puppy, she has jumped up on it and it does not fold. I also have carpet in my living room where the pen is and a huge washable pee pad under the metal play pen and metal kennel. It works amazing.

Mu set up is way better and she has a set up in a big kennel with pine pellets in a cat litter box she goes in. She got the hang of it in two days. I also have a huge washable pee pad in the play pen in case of accidents. But so far she walks in the big kennel hops in the litter box and goes potty there. I connected the play pen to the huge kennel. I wish I could show pics.
What kind of attachments are you using to connect to the crate? I believe I had a similar pen(8 panels) but I had to connect it using the actual exercise pen attachments and the door to go in and out is right next to the crate. Was hoping to find a way to make the door to go in the pen a little farther away from the crate itself.
Or if u got a pit puppy cause mine learn how to climb out now at 9 weeks. She only was in there a few times
Instead of buying another pain, why not just stretch it out and tuck it behind that little dresser so that half the room is penned off?
I am considering something like this for a much larger dog I plan to get that will be about 1-2 years old. Do you think it is sturdy enough that they won’t be able to knock over the panels? I thought I would secure it to an open crate as well...does that increase the stability at all?

When is bed time should we close the dog kennel?
No, because if the dog is shut in it and has to go pee in the night, they can get up and pee on the pee pad, or train if to use litter and put the litter box in the pen.

You can't. It just slides a lot
I'd plan to use a couple of strategically placed cement blocks or some other large piece of furniture to push against and stabilize the pen.

a puppy crys through the night especially when there 6 weeks old, what do you suggest if they don't want to stay in there crate pen setup
Marilyn Zanca Your not even supposed to ducking get a puppy at 6 weeks old..... There supposed to be 8 weeks old or older.
Actually, you can get dogs at 7 weeks old earliest, 8 weeks is just that extra week that gives the puppy time to be with their siblings. But 6 weeks is far too young, yes you want to train your dog from a young age but your puppy should still be with it's mother and is most likely just going from puppy milk to water.

Who would leave a tiny puppy alone for 8 hours? That's not appropriate as you said the puppies require, like a child, a lot of supervision. I believe puppies should be left with their mommy until at a bare min. 12 weeks. X Pen great idea but back with mom after short periods so mom can feed and puppies sleep content.
