Posting a video like this serves as a life lesson to us all about how to respond when accosted by police - require them to adhere strictly to policy, procedure and protocol right from the start, and if they don't do so or begin to veer away into their tyrannical mindset, pull up the drawbridge immediately.
They always go on about your safety due to the movement of vehicles but the ironic thing is they were unable to exit through the pedestrian gate so had to walk through the vehicle gate (and astonishing they managed it without getting injured lol).
Don’t really get why the police staff guy thought he should approach you. Surely if he was that concerned he should have sought the assistance of a constable to come and speak to you.
The so called 'Inspector' really didnt like the fact that a) you closed him down and b) told him how NOT to give out an allegation unless you have proof - he gave a large swallow at that point!! The the other Copper tried to give advice, and you closed him down. Well done!

He's obviously not done it since that was the way it was done as a standard. So I wasn't really surprised when the '101' directive eventually came. He's talking bull, btw. Doesn't matter that he's in a different county - no set forms are needed - a blank bit of paper is all that's required!

At thirteen minutes after you have properly corrected him he is almost choking on his own words!, spouting the most ridiculous cop-waffle about the hazards of the traffic coming and going, really just another episode of attempted tyranny, when the highway code makes it abundantly clear that the burden if responsibility rests on the driver!, they are the ones meant to be in control of a dangerous vehicle. The constable tries quite hard to engage in a more sensible conversation, he does at least take what you say but then tries to suggest that you might be at risk from a lorry!, it has just occurred to me that perhaps they have a maniac driver on the team and their warnings should be taken more seriously. So the Inspector who came out does not actually work there!, he is based elsewhere, so what was he trying to do?. All in all you did a very good job of squaring them away, while their behaviour and attitudes might not change at least they will feel a bit discouraged by the encounter with you. Cheers, Richard.

It’s not that the police can’t be offended per se, but they are expected to have a much higher tolerance, so they shouldn’t be offended by swearing because it’s something that they are frequently exposed to in the course of their duties. It should be noted though that case law on this subject relates to constables, not police staff! I think it was a mistake to take the discussion down that route on this occasion, not just because the man wasn’t a constable, but also because you hadn’t said anything even vaguely offensive to him, so why did he lie to police? The DI claimed you had been rude to the man, but it’s not illegal to be rude (not that you were rude anyway, and neither was he really, in all fairness). So in my view that would have been the better point to pursue. It’s also sometimes best to let them speak rather than instantly shut them down. Get them to elaborate: ask them in what way were you rude and what crime would that be. The more they speak, the more likely they are to say the wrong thing and tie themselves up in knots.
Some of the police staff lack people skills and should have retraining and he should have told an officer if he had any concerns instead of trying to be billy bigboots.And the police always want to have the last word in any conversation.
I don’t think police staff are governed by the same rules as police officers, they don’t swear an oath and aren’t controlled by the same policy’s so don’t have to identify themselves, just saying…

The health and safety advice is a requirement for their liability limitation situation. Essentially what this means is that if you or anyone else is injured, they can show that they’ve complied with their requirements.
hes doesnt work for the police and isnt on their property , therefore they have no duty to cover themselves under H and S policy . If that was the case every police constable would have to speak to every member of public they walk past , how would that work ?
