What happened at the end was that you used ctrl while dragging your mouse, which ignores grid snapping. You kept placing the playhead cursor in the first bar (check the timing), thus playing back the first bar from the beginning. So essentially you don't even have to put it precisely at the start of a bar (learned this while watching your video). Thanks for the thorough explanation. I was having trouble with the metronome being off after the pre-roll. As a last resort I played back to see if the metronome was on, which it wasn't, so thay way I found the solution by myself. Nonetheless, I still watched your video till the end, because thoroughness is rare these days.
