Kyrenia was built by the first Greeks, the Mycynaeans who came to Cyprus after the Trojan War. Its population before the invasion of Turkey were mainly Greek Cypriots. Cyprus is not divided but invaded by Turkey. Turkey has committed genocide against the local Christian Cypriots so that they can create a muslim Turkish state in Cyprus. The Turks have stolen Christian Cypriots homes and villages and changed their names and addresses. They have stolen our Christian churches to make them mosques and they took Greek ancient archaeological sites to make money from them.

1960-Menderez plan: Turkey decided the partition of the island of Cyprus and the creation of a free independent Turkish state for Turkish expats.

The Turkish have stolen the north of Cyprus from the real Cypriots the Greek Cypriots. Turkey is still there holding military bases and not allowing to the Christians Greek Cypriots and other Christian Cypriots to use their churches.
The problem is not between communities. The problem is Turkey committed ethnic cleansing in the north of Cyprus in 1974. Turkish soldiers were breaking into houses and they were stealing and killing and violently beating Greek Cypriot civilians even the old people they didn't respect anyone. My great grandfather 80 years old was shot at the back by a Turkish soldier while trying to get into his house. My great grandmother was hit by a Turkish soldier with the rifle of his gun. Many women from young girls to old women were raped. The majority of the population of northern Cyprus were Greek Cypriots 300000 at least of them were violently forced to leave their homes and villages by the Turkish soldiers. The roads were blocked dividing Cyprus in two so that the Greek Cypriots could not return to their homes and villages in the north of Cyprus until 2004. In 1996 the Turkish killed Isaac Issac and Solomos Solomou two refugees who protested against the illegal occupation of Cyprus by Turkey. Our villages with greek names and labels were changed to the turkish language in order to delete every greek word that would show that these areas were inhabited by Greek Cypriots. Many of our Christian Churches were turned into mosques because Turkey wanted to delete our religion. Turkish military zones in the occupied areas of northern Cyprus include two Christian churches Acheiropoihtos church and Saint Eflalios church which are not accessible by the Christians because the Turkish army does not allow Christians to go to the churches and call them military zone. If you want a solution to the Cyprus problem there has to be a plan by the United Nations and they do not have to ask for Turkey to approve it because Turkey does not wish to get into dialogue. Turkey wishes to stay in Cyprus forever with it's military zones oppressing Cyprus and threatening the Greek Cypriots that the Turkish have stolen their homes, properties, villages and violated their religious, political and human rights. Hence we have to go to the International Court of Justice as Cyprus against Turkey's illegal military occupation.
