I think it was an Indian family who had a mongoose and they keep them as pets, and they treat them very gently and very good, like we would a pet because they can kill the snakes. I'm in my forties now but I would watch that in a heartbeat if they started putting it back on💯❤!

I don't know how far along the fight had gone before you started filming, but the cobra definitely did not look fast in it's strikes. It was pretty amazing to see how the mongoose just walked right up to the snake and attacked it's head. Good video.
Probably only a minute had elapsed before I started recording. I was so surprised how slow the cobra was, he seemed to be mesmerised by the mongoose from the beginning. Maybe he knew what he was in for, a hiding !!!

Yes, it is always hard to believe, but on any day the fight between a snake and a mongoose is always lopsided in favor of the latter. Mongooses just know how to win against snakes, and they have no fear whatsoever of a black mamba or a king cobra. I love the mongoose because of this.

If the cobra is approaching full size, it usually can convince the mongoose to leave. I've seen it happen with large snouted cobras. The mongoose seems to judge how large the snake is and how much energy it has.

Mongoose is TUFF!!! I had a Redline BMX when I was in primary school back in the 80s. I soon changed that over to a Mongoose brand BMX once I learned what a Mongoose was and what it killed.
Well done capturing this encounter. That is a sizeable adult Cape cobra and not an easy pushover for the Grey Mongoose. You are very fortunate to live amongst these wild animals, and I imagine you are the sort of person who would protect and respect the snakes as much as you do for all the other less-dangerous animals.
I would of saved the Cobra,lol...Those Cape Cobra's are beautiful and day will come when that snake venom will replace Narcotic pain meds and already blood pressure and Women's breast cancer drugs.. Tomorrow's wonder drug is venom products..
The closest we have here in the states is watching a roadrunner take out a 7' long rattlesnake. They are expert snake killers, and no they don't go "meep meep!!!" and take off in a cloud of dust, haha. Coyotes will eat them of course, haha.

Love watching these little "Bruce Lees" of the animal kingdom. They are extremely fast and agile. He knows if he can snap the neck of the snake, they can't poise to strike. Would be funny to add Bruce Lee sounds when the snake strikes... :-)
Pretty funny how the mongoose literally jumps on the cobra face on...after the first 3-4 strikes, the cobra is out of gas and striking very slowly and is quickly taken down.

The biggest strength for Mongoose is the reverse movement instinct. Sharp and fast and after a few forward attack moves the cobra will tire.

As snakes go Cobra's are relatively slow strikers.
Could be bad genetics in strike speed, or it dint bask enough to bring its body tempature to optimal level which is a weakness of any Snake.
