With the Livyatan saddle upgrade I believe it works like that: Primitive + Primitive = Ramshackle. Ramshackle + Primitive = Reroll Armor. Ramshackle + Ramshackle = Apprentice. Apprentice + Apprentice = Journeyman. Journeyman + Journeyman = Mastercraft. Mastercraft + Mastercraft = Ascendant. However Idk if Apprentice, Journeyman, Mastercraft and Ascended need a Primitive for a Reroll of their armor or that the mod asks for the previous quality saddle for a reroll.

Both creatures are awesome, but for me the Anomalocaris takes the cake. It comes down to actual usage, with those uber-shrimps I can just get around disgustingly fast and clear caves (something that is not too much fun on that monolithic Livyatan, at least for me). At the end of the day, both creatures are absolutely worth their money in my opinion and especially the whole saddle-gameplay loop of the Livyathan is really cool (albeit still a little bit weird with the whole upgrade situation)! Great video showcasing both and I'm already excited for the Center to actually focus more on underwater creatures!

Personally, I hate the idea of "Premium" mods. If it's to support to mod creators, then there's other ways of doing it e.g. Patreon and/or commissions. This just sounds like greed to pocket more money and a step towards a worse monetization. Great creations, I will admit, jut unfortunate it's locked behind a "premium" wall...
I like the idea on the contrary. Think about it. Now that we have mods on console many console players actually get to play the mods they have seen in several youtube videos in the past. And to be honest nobody realy goes on the patreon accounts of the modders. Some people do yes but the definitive majority does not. And as much as i hate snail games and its little brother wildcard as much do i still love their creation that is Ark. And i would do a lot to have the game still running and getting better creatures out. Moronada and garuga are also the most dominant single persons creating mods right now (tristan and BigAL are great too). And in general mods are what keeps this game diverse and interesting to play over a long course of time. I love paleontology hence the love for a lot of the modders. And with 5$ you cant even buy a pizza anymore anyways
Personally the anomalocaris’s ability for you to use a crossbow on it makes it one of the best creatures to use for taming in the ocean plus its versatility makes it number one for me
Both look amazing!! I did laugh a bit watching you learn to tame them too. Than you tried to knock a manta (passive tame not knock 😂 not a far test start). But both are for sure a worth the $
The whale is absolutely massive and it kinda spooks me just seeing something so vast chilling in the ocean. Both creatures are really well done, mods add so much value to this game.

Considering ark is a dinosaur game there are a lot of creatures that aren’t dinosaurs, the anomalocaris lived during the Cambrian period which is 100s of millions of years before the dinosaurs and not to mention most of the base creatures aren’t even dinosaurs or didn’t live during the same time.
Its not a "dinosaur game". Not taking the entire tek discussion in mind it has been a game about prehistory in my opinion. The mammoth and some other creatures are as old as ark. Besides the anomalocaris was way tinier anyways

The Shrimp with the poisen looks really good for the underwater caves. Just hit and run if you wanna go for clear. If not its really fast and easy for a quick escape it seems.

Great video. You should include a category for balance. Does the new tame make all other tames useless. How is the difficulty to obtain vs power at that level. If you can get a baby easy and it's very strong at low lvl is that balanced. And so on.
I think I prefer the Ana because it feels more at home in Ark’s oceans. The whale basically requires me to fully divert my focus to them, and while I like the ASA ocean more than ASE, I don’t like it THAT much. In contrast, Ana is tame-able as soon as you have chitin armor, with a unique taming method that isn’t too frustrating or janky. So that’s my pick.
There's something pretty unsettling about having an animal that is smart enough that the taming minigame is framed as communicating with it, to then have a saddle made of the bones of its kind tho. Like I know ARK is the videogame that makes you club penguins for fancy ressources, but I feel like this still goes a little far, ya know
Cool creatures and neat idea for new taming methods. The prim saddle for the whale needs a lot of work and is far to large, you mesh with it and it looks like a giant needs to be riding it. The mini game would be an absolute nightmare for official and while I think it's cool it's just too complicated for those without 6 hours to play the game a day. These are just my opinion and being a solo player on official I can be a bit more critical about time consuming/complicated game mechanics. So take what I have to say with a grain of salt.
i like the Anoma' better, it looks more at home in ark, mostly in terms of animations. while Livya' is very cool i feel like the animations are a bit much, and makes it feel like a mod creature. plus i really love the way you can improve the special attacks of Anoma'
Is no one noticing the skull is the wrong type? The skull given by the corpse says its leviathan but thats actually a baleen whale skull. Leviathan was a toothed whale, different skull shape
In terms of stats and general physical prowess, it definitely goes to Livyatan. But in terms of power with a rider, 100% goes to Anomalocaris. They're both insane, but max leveled ambush and leech life make you nearly unstoppable because of that healing and 1 shot chance. If you 1v1 a livyatan with Anomalocaris and spam leech life and the ambush 20 times there's a garunteed 1 shot possibility due to the 5% chance. Basically, Livyatan is brawn. Anomalocaris is brain. Just depends.

I hate to be the "Um actually" guy but the Livyatan is pronounced Livi/Ya/Tan and the Anomolocaris is pronounce A/Naa/muh/Low/khar/ruhs. The Livyatan whale is just the Hebrew spelling of leviathan, and is only that way because of mastodon - whose name used to include leviathan. If I'm wrong, please feel free to educate me. I just wanted to point that out. Very cool video though.
Do we know if this would even be tamable on official? Or just strictly singleplayer? Having a giant whale i think would be awesome more varieties in the ocean
I like both of them but i have issues with the size of the whale thats just to dam big to store let alone breed multiple i dont want to make a base that insane just to have those.
The levyathan is just too big. it becomes cumbersome too easily. They should have made it about the same size as the mosa... not so big that you can't see properly when you ride the thing
I think anomalo is better and it isn’t close. The whales taming and saddle mechanics don’t fit ark, and seem more frustrating than anything. Anomalo has a unique tame while fitting the game. Livyatan also seems to have problems fighting more agile targets. The anomalos killed the alpha by kiting it by its butt. In terms of the aesthetics, anomalo easily takes this, the detail and care put into everything Garuga makes is unparalleled. While the whale has three saddles(which IMO the classic and bone don’t look that great) the anomalo has three model upgrades when maxing out its aspects. This makes it look even cooler. The abilities, anomalo has more utility while still being a powerful combatant when fully leveled. It’s can knock things out, stun, lifesteal. Not to mention, they harvest for black pearls! Basically, I’m not interested in the livyatan. It’s not designed with fitting the game in mind, and is too large and bulky. Meanwhile I think the anomalo has an excellent design and abilities. Not to mention I also think every other Ark addition creatures is better to. It probably sounds like it just glazing Garuga, but the sheer quality of his creations is truly that good.
I know this is unpopular opinion. But i just dont really care for the big behemoth massive damage creatures. I definitely think the anomalo is far cooler and more interesting. The whale is just a boring stat stick. The saddles were the best thing about it, but i just think its too overpowered in terms of damage and health. It's definitely not vanilla balanced whatsoever, where as the Anomalo is

The abilities, anomalo has more utility while still being a powerful combatant when fully leveled. It’s can knock things out, stun, lifesteal. Not to mention, they harvest for black pearls!
Basically, I’m not interested in the livyatan. It’s not designed with fitting the game in mind, and is too large and bulky. Meanwhile I think the anomalo has an excellent design and abilities. Not to mention I also think every other Ark addition creatures is better to. It probably sounds like it just glazing Garuga, but the sheer quality of his creations is truly that good.
For anomalocaris, think Anomaly. Anom-al-uh-car-us.

I think the whale is cool but it doesn’t feel real. Its animations are too “quick and snappy” for a hulking underwater behemoth.

I know this is unpopular opinion. But i just dont really care for the big behemoth massive damage creatures. I definitely think the anomalo is far cooler and more interesting. The whale is just a boring stat stick. The saddles were the best thing about it, but i just think its too overpowered in terms of damage and health. It's definitely not vanilla balanced whatsoever, where as the Anomalo is
Hmm... I feel like some of these tame methods are getting too ridiculous just for the sake of it. Like a bit of trolling to the people who complained about taming methods. But yeah, no thanks. I have a feeling this will be like the giga: ultimately useless in single player, sadly.

I hate how big they made the Lavyatan... Only complaint.
The whale is just too much to go through for a tame. Something like the Carchar and this sea scorpion is perfect but they did too much with the whale.
