A Tamron 28-180 would be really interesting!! Seeing Jared host his own meetup is tempting me to host a one out here in SF, building off of what you started...

@@Tommy_Beal You should man. The community needs a leader for it to survive or else it’ll fade away. My Atl guy just hosted his first meetup on his own. SF is the last chapter to be self sufficient. You’re up!

I recommend the matthews mini boom arm over that promaster. It's much easier to counter balance and more durable.

Would love to see maybe some tripods you do suggest even if they aren’t the cheapest! But something you would prefer over the small rig!

@@Jeremiah_Aguirre The link below is the best one I have purchased by far. As my rig has gotten bigger over the last year, I now see the importance of having counterbalance settings on the head. I like the single leg lock, it operates similar to the sachtler but at a fraction of the price. I wish it had a built in carrying handle though. I’ve been thinking of how I can add one. Overall it’s a great value.

I have that smallrig tripod, the head is alright but I really like the legs. They are light weight and really durable and each one has a single latch like the sachtlers.

I predict sooner or possibly later, if both you stay in production, you'll buy Sachtler, almost everyone does. Then you regret all of the money you spent on cheap tripods because you could have bought the Sachtler in the early days and just been done with it. My current DV6 SB and Video 18 III I have used for over 20 years.
But the price! Easy, buy a used Sachtler, there are some amazing deals out there for just a bit more than that E Image, if you are careful, do your research and know what you are looking for. Look at what Cranky uses, Sachtler 12/15. It is the way. BTW, I have three of the Flowtech 75s with the Aktiv 8s for our live streaming company. I love them but they were $4k apiece and honestly, the older generation Sachtlers are just built better, the new stuff is defintely lighter, but also really plasticky, the old stuff is all metal, a bit heavier but so much more robust. I'm not sure if the newest Sachtlers will last 20+ years like the old ones. Plenty of well cared for or refurbished old Sachtlers out there, just hunt around, lots of older dudes retiring and they just want to move them.

@@danbrockettDOP You’re actually not the first person I’ve heard say this about getting the sachtler. lol That’s some solid advice though I’ll look into some used older models for sure. Thanks.

@@brian.zukowski Well, just an opinion and for David too. If you are a pro, make your money with your gear, you will rarely regret buying the best you can afford.
In 2024 also, I am a big proponent of not buying everything new. I just bought an FX6 a few months ago, I looked around at used and I would have only saved a couple of hundred bucks and had no factory warranty. So we bought that camera new, because it made the best financial sense to (had to send it back to Sony almost immediately when I stripped out one of the mic mount screws, which Sony did cover under warranty, which was nice of them because I screwed it up).
But since then, I have bought four Sony FE lenses, all used but barely used and have saved literally thousands of dollars over new and these lenses are, for all intent, almost new. In my experience, lenses rarely break or malfunction compared to cameras so I feel secure in buying used lenses from quality vendors with a return policy.
As far as tripods, I deal with the cheap ones all of the time, we have a recurring gig where the client owns two Sony mirrorless that we use and they own piece of crap Manfrottos and Sirui tripods, they are complete junk. I've owned Benro, Sirui, Manfrotto (many, many Manfrottos) as well as I've shot with several of the Chinese Sachtler clones and to me, you are just wasting time and money NOT owning a real Sachtler and not their cheap ACE ones, or the most recent FSBs, which are better but still which are pretty junky too in comparison to the older Video and DV SB models.
      Good luck with your journey!
