I am surprised you needed two bottles. I am 39 years old and tried dying my hair for the first time in my life (just to cover greys) and have about the same length of hair. I decided to start with only a half amount of the bottles incase that is enough and could get two uses out of it. I figured I could always quickly mix up more if I run out. 🤷♀️ Turned out just enough! 😃 I too did not have the application kit, but it totally worked fine to just use an old toothbrush! (I always save a stash of used toothbrushes if the bristles are still decent for repurposing to scrub various small crevices around our home). That said, I used the toothbrush to dip in the gel and carefully massage little sections at the front area of my head as that was more priority than the back. It felt too meticulous to continue that process with a toothbrush in tiny sections around the rest of my head (plus I had no one available to do the back for me), so I switched to just massaging the remainder of the mixture with my gloved fingertips. It definitely covered all my greys, front and back! The only thing I regret is not realizing there existed a chart to distinguish all the different shades available. I simply saw the title on amazon that read something about “dark brown” (which is what I consider my hair color) and the picture on the box looked correct. I did not realize till later that Herbatint uses the exact same picture for multiple different shades! 😮 My hair color turned out a darker brown…almost black! 😬 Thankfully, it is not super significant of a change…I mean, even my husband did not notice it was darker. 😂 However, I can tell. 😉 Next time I will probably go for the 4N Chestnut. For reference, the 2N Dark Brown was what I used that looks almost black.)
It has very similar color to 5.41 Revlon Soft Autumn Chestnut although when freshly dyed it looked for me significantly darker but with hair washes very similar to yours in this video. Beautiful soft medium light Chestnut but the amount of Herbatint is too low and would have needed 2.5 bottle instead of 2. So had to dilute it a bit with water but it came out fine (6N and 7M mix) a bit more N to the roots to avoid too much red tone. I have read some add argan oil to dilute the dye for a softer result
If you actually do want red undertones in your hair then why not go with different henna dyes? It's perfect for this and much healthier too. Personally, my problem is I need cool, ashy undertones, so henna mixes work poorly for me. Otherwise I wouldn't go near chemical dye.
Your hair looks so pretty - love the color!
Thank you so much!!

i’ve heard henna is mega permanent and super hard to change or cover up 🤷🏻♀️
@@TheHolisticHomesteader You can easily cover lighter henna mix with darker henna mix. Going lighter will be hard, yes.
Really pretty color !!!
Thank you!
