The new Passat - with the ninth generation, Volkswagen is continuing the success story of the 50-year-old bestseller, which has now sold over 34 million times. Based on the fundamentally modernized Volkswagen modular system MQB, which has now been given the addition of “evo”, the high-quality Passat has many important innovations - you can find all the details here in the additional press information.
Interior architecture was redesigned and conceived. Thanks to high-quality materials and effective noise insulation, the value and comfort are on a new level. ErgoActive front seats will be available as an option. They are equipped with electrical adjustment (up to 14 ways depending on the model and equipment) as well as differently configured massage and air conditioning functions.
New display and operating concept. The new interior architecture of the Passat Variant consistently implements feedback from Volkswagen customers. The goal: the most intuitive operation possible. The Passat Variant will therefore come onto the market with a newly developed cockpit and new infotainment system. The new standard infotainment display is 32 cm (12.9 inches) large. There will also be a new 38 cm (15 inch) display available as an option or depending on the equipment. There are backlit touch sliders under the infotainment display; They are used to set functions such as the interior temperature and the volume. In addition, Volkswagen will optionally offer a new head-up display that projects the information into the windshield and thus into the virtual space in front of the vehicle. And:
More space in the rear. The new Passat Variant is significantly larger than its predecessor. The new length (plus 14 centimeters) increases legroom by a further 5 centimeters. The trunk volume also increases by 40 to 690 liters (when loaded up to the height of the rear seat backs), and even by 140 to 1,920 liters when the rear seat is folded down.
New DCC Pro and integration of the driving dynamics manager. Numerous individual measures improve the chassis of the new model: increased camber rigidity and greater lateral force steering of the four-link rear axle (increased rear axle stability and thus increased driving safety), a new set-up of the electromechanical steering, modified stabilizers and dampers, adjustments to various rims. In addition, the Passat Variant's more direct steering ratio and the extended wheelbase have a positive effect on the driving characteristics.
Volkswagen also offers a further developed generation of adaptive suspension for its bestseller: the optional DCC Pro with 2-valve dampers. It constantly reacts to road characteristics and driving situations, taking into account parameters such as steering, braking and acceleration processes. In fractions of a second, the ideal damping is calculated for each wheel and adjusted on the shock absorbers. The driver has the option of individually adjusting the DCC from very comfortable to very sporty. In short: more comfort and more dynamics.
A driving dynamics manager is also part of the standard equipment - an MQB system that celebrated its debut in the current Golf GTI . The system controls the functions of the electronic differential locks (XDS) and the lateral dynamic components of the dampers, which are controlled in the case of the DCC Pro. Thanks to the driving dynamics manager, the handling characteristics become more neutral, more stable, more agile and more precise through wheel-specific braking interventions and a wheel-selective change in the damper hardness.
For strong illumination of the road. The Passat Variant will be offered in the top equipment with a new generation of “IQ.LIGHT - LED matrix headlights”. Compared to its predecessor, the high-performance headlights are even flatter and have a new high-performance high beam with a beam range of around 500 meters. In the rear area, the new model has a continuous LED crossbar for the taillights.
TDI, TSI, eTSI and eHybrid. Thanks to MQB evo, different drive types can be implemented in the new Passat Variant. There will be turbo diesel engines (TDI), turbo petrol engines (TSI), mild hybrid turbo petrol engines (eTSI) and plug-in hybrid systems (eHybrid). The electric range of the new plug-in hybrid drives has been increased compared to its predecessors to up to 100 kilometers, depending on the equipment. In addition, AC charging will be faster in all eHybrid versions and DC fast charging will also be possible as standard for the first time.

From cheap plastic, this silver painted buttons will come off after short time, touch buttons wasn't perfect but at least the plastic used was much better quality than this

Not sure why VW is holding off that release. In the past they've always release all the cars at once. You could buy any level of the Golf, from the GTI to the intro. That was back in the day where the GTI was to top Golf.

Has to be one of the most generic looking cars on the road.If you like plane Jane non offensive you are going to love this car.
If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, all cubbies and storage bin need to have covers. Otherwise, they turn into litter baskets with lint and debris stuck at the bottom.
Could also benefit from an upgraded power steering wheel, which is the first thing people look at when they open the car. There was a gorgeous one on one of the concept vehicles that definitely needs to trickle down to the different models. Even if its an option. I would definitely opt for it, especially after coming this close to luxury appointments.
On the bright side, someone was smart enough to know to including lining for the door storage and glove box. A a huge jump, soft touch on the rear door sills..
