If you have seen how they did it in the 60s... wow, it was crazy hard to make happen. We have come a long ways since then, but it was always impressive.

This was built 50+ years ago. Before most people seeing it were born. 50 years ago they did not use computers. Very impressive 1960's technology. Not as impressive as landing on the Moon, but still impressive 60's tech.
It has since been ugraded and even rebuilt. Obviously, imagineers wouldn't keep the original when they can grab what's best in latest tech throughout the years.
Werner M. Trust me this isn’t close to the latest tech Disney owns. Yeah, they repeated it because naturally technology that complex would deteriorate over 50+ years but they’ve kept it as close to the original as possible to keep the historical charm of something that was designed by Walt Disney himself.

I was embarrassed when I boasted to my 2 younger friends how good the original version was when I saw it as a kid in the 60's, to get them to see it during our Disneyland trip; but this being in the late 90's, it clearly looked outdated, as to where I felt the need to apologize. So it was quite the thrill when we returned to see this great animatronic reimagining, & of course future technology will only make it even better!
When they redid it in the 90s they changed the script to stuff about a photographer and put on a mask that looked nothing like Abraham, the mask here. The version in this video has the new mask but the old script. I wonder when this version happened.

Very good but very creepy. Lincoln saved the nation in the darkest hours of our history. He was indeed a great man.
I disagree. While robots can certainly be creepy, I think Disney did a fantastic job with their animatronics, and avoided the "uncanny valley" extremely well. While Lincoln does look real at times, it isn't creepy because you know he isn't real deep down. It is when tech gets super advanced where you run into the issue of things looking "too real" and that's when things get creepy. The exaggerated facial expressions seen in Pirates of the Caribbean partially help avoid this creepy factor you speak of.

They did it for us ,the common American people. They did it so we can be free and have our unalienable rights which are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We must also make sure that the next generation who is being brainwashed by the government is told and reminded of these men and women, what they did, and why they did it.

I remember seeing the original attraction as a little girl in the 80's. They used to sell a cassette tape at Disneyland which had the soundtrack for various attractions/rides (i.e Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc) and the audio from "Great Moments With Mr Lincoln" was included on the tape. My daddy used to play the tape in the car while driving my sister and me to school and was insistent that we really paid attention to this speech. My daddy was "that guy" who fought with the Homeowner's Association to be able to fly our American flag 365 days a year and not just on the 4th of July. Seeing this video makes my eyes mist over...I'm so glad my daddy isn't alive to see what's happened to the country he loved!

ASLB247 We will still never truly know what Abraham Lincoln sounded like other than some claims from 150+ years ago. For what we know, this may sound identical to him. Either way, I do believe this has been the same voice since the attraction first opened. So that would probably be controversial to change something from when WD was alive.

They haven't perfected how he stands up yet. I wanted him to start talking like that priest in The Princess Bride. Maw-age... mare-wage is what bwings up togever today.
It is a show created in the 1960's and part of the charm of the show is the little flaws in the design that remind you of how historic for it's time the show was, much like the words of Lincoln. If Disney wanted they could create an absolutely mind blowingly realistic Lincoln that could stand up exactly like a human, but that would defeat the magic of this show, because it isn't about a perfect animatronic. It's about history

@@ashlee9546 But it was mainly updated due to aging of a robot of that complexity over 60 odd years. Disney has far surpassed this level of animatronic, and compared with archive footage of the original Lincoln from the 60's and early 70's it was pretty damn close to this. Absolutely mind blowing that Disney pulled this off so long ago and to such a convincing degree.

I learned so much from watching this show time and again. Thanks to the internet I learned his speech here is a compilation of several speeches all spliced together. The selections are precious and influential. I am so grateful Walt Disney loved American and kept the American dream and ideals alive. And for those that the run the company now who hate America, hate Walt, and hate his and America's ideals, I love watching them suffer with get woke go broke, but I pity they take Walt's name down with them.

Yes! Creepy as ever and the way it is presented in such a hushed... awe'd reverence like our imagineers brought him back to life... before you now! And then he stands up in a very robotic way and we got to laughing... like kids in church... but we were only two of a whole 7 people sitting there watching this spectacle.
Personally, I think this avoids the uncanny valley very well like most disney animatronics do, but to each their own.
So it seems Disney Showcased the 1st A.I. and called it autoatomic. Yea thats some history bomb alright. Maybe walt was trying to tell us / U.S. sumthing. Hum
