I liked Paladins significantly more than Overwatch. Far more customization for your character to be faster or tankier or just efficient. If you don't play long enough to change out loadouts to suit you of course you won't like it. That said I stopped playing long ago. Updates that were bad, removing one bug made eight more, and then the ranked was empty.
Wild to see Paladins acknowledgment in 2025 of all years. Sad to see this game turn out the way it is, a lot of people on the team truly love the game. I loved that game, I'll miss throwing my knives and listening to techno beats a Raeve Maeve, but I'm just riding the Marvel Rivals high and feeling satisfied. I'll never forget Paladins as my first ever Hero shooter though.
honestly i really like the build customization in this game. grover can do crazy damage, be an insane support, or make crowds of enemies extremely slow and vulnerable
Honestly, this game cemented in me that I love Hero Shooters, but Overwatch is the least fun example of that genre imo. Sadly, it is (or was) the most popular, so it ate other (imo) better hero shooters alive. Yeah, for all their faults, I had more fun playing Paladins, Battleborn, freakin Lawbreaker than I ever had with Overwatch. I'm just glad Marvel Rivals is actually popular, so I can get my Hero Shooter fix without having to do Overwatch. Also, besides being in a mech, D.VA and Ruckus really aren't similar.
What started it's downfall, tbh if they instead focused on fixing bugs , making the graphics better and adding content the game would of become something great
this game inspired Overwatch and pulls off everything 1000x better ahaha, you just need a good team and its always fun time. ruckus is diva? no. diva is ruckus LOL
It’s made by the Same people who made Smite, apparently Hi-Rez left Smite to work on this while Titan Forge looks over Smite now. People still think Hi-Rez works on Smite while this has been on since like Paladin’s release. (Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything, haven’t checked up on this in years could be 1000% wrong tbh)

Used to play this game so damn much, and it was so fun for a while. I mained a ton of characters like Bomb King, Atlas, Khan, Grohk, Drogoz, and much more. Unfortunate they haven’t added a new character in quite a bit of Also I was a Torvald main as well lol
Not going to lie before I clicked the short I thought he was going to talk about the paladin class from DnD. I didn't even remember that this game existed.
Yeah i was obsessed with this game from senior hs year to early college, mainly bc it's the only "decent" looking shooter game i can play on my shitty laptop 😂
Back in the day this game used to be very fast paced like straight up the reason it feels slow now because it's not suppose to be as characters back then are mobile AF! Not to mention the Cards System that boosts mobility you know I'm boostin that shit and watch my characters zoom through the maps like they're high on cocaine. And then some dumbass thought to extremely nerf the mobility like fuckin hell man.
Paladins puts so much love into their skins, voice acting, character designs. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine, personally paladins is one of my favorite hero shooters just for the amount of different ways you can play 1 character with the different cards and unlockable ability bonuses.
Paladins was the game I played to take a break from OW back in 2016. A friend of mine had recently gotten into it for the same reason and asked if I wanted to join him become he really enjoyed it. I naively thought it was "an overwatch clone" too until I tried it and noticed all the differences. The card system is definitely my favorite thing about the game. I genuinely really enjoy the game, and i will keep playing it until it dies, which feels like that will be sooner than I want it to be. (I could go on and on about this game lol)
Paladins is such an amazing game it has a skill curve for new players and a lot to learn since theirs so many characters and ways to customise them which is also part of the fun having your own build and playstyle and with so many characters to try you have something for everyone I only wish it had more players
Paladins is insanely good, I played it for a long time but haven't been able to do so after they took down Switch support. My friends brainwashed me into playing Overwatch after that and all I can say is... it was one of the biggest downgrades ever lmao Overwatch really did felt like trash, like you got Paladins and strip it down to the most barebones simplistic version possible where the customization and depth was flushed down the toilet. Then to finish it off the ONE chance they had at making me stay, character desing, only made me hate it more. They all look like the same generic plans slapped on top of each character. It's either a Humanoid Robot or a Human with armor. And even then they might as well be the same thing, cuz the desing for each robot/armor is basically the same basic philosophy of "Discount offbrand Iron-Man suit". It's like picking between 1 of the Power Rangers in a season, "oh gee, they are all so different" and then you look at them and it's "Suit but Red, same Suit but Blue, same Suit but Yellow, same suit but Pink..." The only ones with any kind of personality were the Junkyard ones and Orisha. I ended up playing Orisha cuz it was a unique desing among the pile garbage tarnishing my screen. AND THEN, not even Skins save that aspect, as all of them retain the generic-robotic desing over them. They will say "new skin: Anubis" and when you check it is the same character still just an armor/robot but modified/tuned to superficially resemble Anubis. In Paladins if you pick Anubis, YOU PLAY AS ANUBIS. They don't care if the Base skin is a tree, a human, a robot, an insectoid, or a demon, they would only retain the model frame while turning the entire character into a humanoid Jackal.
man i was there when this game first came out, played the beta and everything too. and with everything the game has gone through its like losing a close friend
Trigon scales above Darkseid, but like to absurd levels. It's almost a joke how much of downplay he gets that he gets squared against a bunch of Teens instead of the Justice League The best you will find about this vs is the video here in TH-cam by WebCamParrot
This pretty much is the case for Invincible Fight Girl that came out last year too, not a lot of people cared about the show until ONE clip on Twitter (of course) came out and people were dogging the show, saying it looked bad, comparing moments that were either so cool for it's own premise or comparing shows that literally reference or have inspiration from and worst of all, disrespecting not just the show but ENTIRE PROFESSIONS AS WELL like Cartoonists and Animators were being made fun of from ONE CLIP, let that sink it. It sucks because the show is one of the best from last year too, interesting premise, great animation and great writing too. Same with this show, like they aren't even giving new shows a chance and openly disrespecting it, not to mention finding just the most basic or overused arguments as to why and not watch it, like whatever happened to just respectfully saying that a show just doesn't look like it's for you and moving on or even just, crazy idea i know, but giving it a chance, instead of complaining or finding reasons to hate it and the show hasn't even came out yet, we are really reaching a double standard for animation and it's awful. At first i wasn't interested, now I am! It has a unique premise, a good artstyle (like i love the poster, it's funny and creative) and it just looks interesting! Give things a try and not disrespect them, animation as a whole is on such tight waters and some of the best projects of all time in recent years were because of neglect from the audience, hopefully this doesn't continue moving forward.
Old paladins was much better than the current one tho. It came before overwatch and was much better, current paladins is basically just as bad as overwatch. Tho, the skins are still stellar,
As someone who has randomly hopped in and out of the game, it has felt worse to play probably ever since after that caterpillar-worm tank and I can't say why because the one thing the game has (or Hi-rez games in general is fun). Now I want to hear your thoughts about Warframe though
I remember when there was a third person camera option way back when. I still enjoyed the game but I've stopped playing the past year and i don't think I'll go back soon now that Rivals is out
Funny thing was they did actually add an option for going 3rd person once or twice, before completely removing it, in no small part because literally almost NOBODY used it.
Ngl back when you needed ps plus to play overwatch 1, this was the next best thing for me. The fact you could basically make your own play style because of the cards was cool, plus they had some insane skins
I just wish they did more with the lore. Newer characters get a fair bit, but all the older ones basically just have a paragraph or 2. Like makoa is a protector for the ska'drin and we have 2 playable ska'drin. But thats about it for him, dont believe he has a reason for protecting them or anything else. Hell maeve's says she had a big heist and i believe that was her coat, but who knows. Id just love some lore animations like what overwatch gave us because theres so much opportunity
My old laptop couldn't run Overwatch back in the day so I invested a lot of time into Paladins instead and was very surprise by how fun it was. Once I was able to play Overwatch I never went back but I treasure the fun I had then. Plus it has a lot of aspects I preferred: you could customise your abilities to emphasise different gameplay focuses for the same character, there was a lot of personal customisation such as changing the announcer or having skins with distinct dialogue sets and I don't know the meta, even back then, but I always felt the healers in this game felt less like babysitters for the team an were more equipped to deal effective damage. That could just be the Furia biased coming through
I use to be on this heavy Tyra was my girl Dropped the game when yagaroth(I think that's his name) dropped was a tank has 18 health bars and had one ability when he'd spit on you and give you aids and 27 different debuffs I hated it 🗿
Played this game for 1 year I did enjoy it a lot deleted it when I found out I’ll never be able to get any of the skins though which is half why I even downloaded it that and it was free.
It was fun while it lasted, the thing that kept me playing is when you realize how high the skill ceiling some of the champion is. Evie teleports and androsux headshot flick is so fucking good when you accomplished it
Paladins still has some of my favorite characters I've played in a hero shooter. Maeve, Evie, Buck, Androxus, Io, Terminus. Love them. And still occasionally go back to play em. I just couldn't get used to the MOBA elements like the shop. I get the concept but I don't think I ever used it very effectively.
Paladins was one of the three games me and my friends would play alot. My favourites characters to use being Dragoz, Raum and Ash. I liked it for what it was but I got bored of it I’m glad that Marvel Rivals exists now so that I can enjoy hero shooters again.
i had so many hours in Paladins when all i could play is free games. this game was a great entrance for me to play ow1 when i finally could play for it
THEY ADDED GROVER INTO PALADINS!? Context: Grover is the comapnion to Sylvanus in Hi-Rez's other major game SMITE. Its like a Ferra/Torr situation, but i had NO clue he was a stand alone character in Paladins WTH 😳
Paladins mentioned in 2025! I honestly love this game more than OW. The characters are more interesting, the designs and skins are fantastic, and the cards and talents offer variety OW could only dream of! My only issue is that Hi-Rez doesn't love the game as much as the community does, EM is practically a skeleton crew since they're diverting all hands to work on Smite 2.
I remember playing Paladins back in the day when Overwatch 1 was big and honestly felt like Paladins was a lot smoother. Also you didnt need a super OP PC (for the time) to run it. Eventually dropped it because I got obsessed with Warframe and was getting tired juggling a few too many games.
I just play it to play Sky and Maeve’s kits. I never played over watch or other games with a similar format, but I really loved the assassin play styles and sky’s poison. If there are characters with similar ones in other games I’d love to know.
I like paladins whenever I go back to it. I love playing IO because her design is great. Her Playstyle with luna is unique and she is an amazing healer and can do great damage at the same time
I've been playing Paladins off and on since about 2017, and this is insanely valid. This game was Overwatch for someone who couldn't afford overwatch, and MAN did it slap, especially with friends. The worst part is that it used to have a 3rd person mode toggle, but they got rid of it. I've seen the release of almost every character (with breaks in between) and it's kinda sad seeing how dead the game is. Not saying it's completely deserted, but it feels like that fun 2017/2018 energy has been lost. Considering the popularity of Marvel Rivals, it wouldn't surprise me if 2025 is it's last year online. (P.S., tyra and seras the goat dont @ me.)
One thing worth mention is that with Paladins, your kinda getting more verity. With the nature of the game how you play your champion can differ depending on how you build them. I would love to play Paladins again, but the servers have a weak connection where I'm at, and I can no longer access my account that I've been building for some time

The satisfaction you get from pushing the entire enemy team off the map with Io's ult is the best feeling in that game
YES I STILL PLAY PROUD VIKTOR MAIN
RIP old Viktor design
"BARRAGE INCOMING" was the original "ARMED AND DANGEROUS"
Groot’s angry cousin I’m dead ☠️😭
He’s not angry he’s high
Grover is just a chill guy
Also, besides being in a mech, D.VA and Ruckus really aren't similar.
drogoz was my MAIN in that game, and im saying MAIN cuz i havent touched that game in YEARS
I play paladins. It's propably the best hero shooter for switch since overwatch runs at 20fps
I know you're lying because Paladins on Switch was so nasty they killed the port.
@massgunner4152
Dude I literally had every character but idk why it reseted
I played it years ago, and honestly I loved it more then overwatch mainly because of the card system
Hirez pretty much killed the game
Man it's honestly refreshing to see someone say something just isn't for them instead of attacking it and the fans
Cards unbound makes the ogs shiver in fear
What started it's downfall, tbh if they instead focused on fixing bugs , making the graphics better and adding content the game would of become something great
@coadamolx0100 thing is they don't have the budget, too. Hi, rez only pays the devs to add content and fix bugs when necessary
@coadamolx0100 problem at the time was the company cared more about smite than paladins. They gave then the bare minimum.
I played this a decent amount. Love yagaroth he was so cool and so fun
this game inspired Overwatch and pulls off everything 1000x better ahaha, you just need a good team and its always fun time. ruckus is diva? no. diva is ruckus LOL
I'm afraid you've got the time frame mixed up overwatch was 2016 and paladins 2018
@@thatoneguy6318 Paladins came out in 2015 mate. Simple search will tell you what you are missing! Glad I could help!
@@thatoneguy6318 No it wasn't. Paladins launched in 2016. It's oficial release was 2018 but it was online for years in beta
@@lordgrub12345 ok that was September 16 of 2016 and overwatch was may 3 of 2016. So no still wrong
@@thatoneguy6318 do you genuinely believe the entire game was made in a couple of months
i second this, i feel like once you played one online fps, you've played them all.
Love paladins and I will say their skins are top tier way better then Overwatch
Not gonna lie, I thought you were gonna talk about DND for a sec
Same
Fr and I don't even play DND.
[ The TH-cam DND shorts are getting me to want to play]
It’s made by the Same people who made Smite, apparently Hi-Rez left Smite to work on this while Titan Forge looks over Smite now. People still think Hi-Rez works on Smite while this has been on since like Paladin’s release. (Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything, haven’t checked up on this in years could be 1000% wrong tbh)
hi rez split itself into like, 5 different studios (evil mojo, titan forge, red beard games etc) that all focus on an individual game but are all still under the same overall hi rez banner
@ Thank you so much, but I must ask; when did the split happen. (Sorry if you got 2 notifications, thought I messed up the reply so I’m redoing it)
@@domthe5260 nw, sometime in 2018. I don't remember why/ if they explained why they did it. I know hi rez has had a lot of controversies in the past so maybe they were trying to not have one games bad press bleed into the others
Used to love it a lot, but with the way the game is heading it became harder and harder to support it
I feel like any second now there will be news about its eventual shut down
Used to play this game so damn much, and it was so fun for a while. I mained a ton of characters like Bomb King, Atlas, Khan, Grohk, Drogoz, and much more. Unfortunate they haven’t added a new character in quite a bit of
Also I was a Torvald main as well lol
Not going to lie before I clicked the short I thought he was going to talk about the paladin class from DnD. I didn't even remember that this game existed.
If you’d rather play Overwatch, then maybe you should play Battleborn, too.
Didn't that game get shut down?
I forgot this existed
Yeah i was obsessed with this game from senior hs year to early college, mainly bc it's the only "decent" looking shooter game i can play on my shitty laptop 😂
Bruh I remember this😭💀
Back in the day this game used to be very fast paced like straight up the reason it feels slow now because it's not suppose to be as characters back then are mobile AF!
Not to mention the Cards System that boosts mobility you know I'm boostin that shit and watch my characters zoom through the maps like they're high on cocaine.
And then some dumbass thought to extremely nerf the mobility like fuckin hell man.
Goofy take your whole argument is just they nerfed something you thought was fun but it wasn't healthy for the game so no shi they nerfed it
@@teddyriggs1305 Are you telling me my +75% speed Lex used to be the norm?
What I liked about it was the fact that you could make different builds with each character
I like how you pick my three mains to use as examples, the universe is telling me something
Paladins puts so much love into their skins, voice acting, character designs. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine, personally paladins is one of my favorite hero shooters just for the amount of different ways you can play 1 character with the different cards and unlockable ability bonuses.
It used to have a switch between 1st and 3rd person but its been so long ig they took it away trying to follow other games
No it took it away because of bugs. Actually a lot of things in this game got removed because of bugs
I love the card system and talents.
Amazing system wasted.
Paladins is insanely good, I played it for a long time but haven't been able to do so after they took down Switch support.
My friends brainwashed me into playing Overwatch after that and all I can say is... it was one of the biggest downgrades ever lmao
Overwatch really did felt like trash, like you got Paladins and strip it down to the most barebones simplistic version possible where the customization and depth was flushed down the toilet.
It's like picking between 1 of the Power Rangers in a season, "oh gee, they are all so different" and then you look at them and it's "Suit but Red, same Suit but Blue, same Suit but Yellow, same suit but Pink..."
The only ones with any kind of personality were the Junkyard ones and Orisha.
I liked this game more when my hate for Overwatch grew when OW2 came out and literally nothing was new...
man i was there when this game first came out, played the beta and everything too. and with everything the game has gone through its like losing a close friend
Day 7 of asking who would win, the strongest version of trygon or the strongest version of darkseid, the old gods vs the new gods
🗣🔥
Trigon scales above Darkseid, but like to absurd levels. It's almost a joke how much of downplay he gets that he gets squared against a bunch of Teens instead of the Justice League
The best you will find about this vs is the video here in TH-cam by WebCamParrot
@jvbon646 thank you
This pretty much is the case for Invincible Fight Girl that came out last year too, not a lot of people cared about the show until ONE clip on Twitter (of course) came out and people were dogging the show, saying it looked bad, comparing moments that were either so cool for it's own premise or comparing shows that literally reference or have inspiration from and worst of all, disrespecting not just the show but ENTIRE PROFESSIONS AS WELL like Cartoonists and Animators were being made fun of from ONE CLIP, let that sink it.
The palidins complexity is in the card builds. This is great.
Love hopping on Paladins and popping back on my Evie main hat. You rarely see her anymore, so it's like everyone forgot how to fight her.
Furia is what defined my playstyle in these games(dmg support) which left me stuck as a zen main who everyone hated 😢 now and i’m a loki main 😊
Yagorath, her name's Yagorath
I remember when there was a third person camera option way back when. I still enjoyed the game but I've stopped playing the past year and i don't think I'll go back soon now that Rivals is out
Funny thing was they did actually add an option for going 3rd person once or twice, before completely removing it, in no small part because literally almost NOBODY used it.
Ngl back when you needed ps plus to play overwatch 1, this was the next best thing for me. The fact you could basically make your own play style because of the cards was cool, plus they had some insane skins
Paladins for the longest time used to have third person mode and it genuinely made the game enjoyable for me
I just wish they did more with the lore.
Started playing paladins because it was free all the way back on release. Don't play it much nowadays but it still has its charm.
Overwatch 2 vs Marvel Rivals vs Paladins vs TF2
I wanted to put Battleborn on this list but that game can’t even be played anymore which is sad
When overwatch 1 was out this was my jam.
That could just be the Furia biased coming through
I like how you can customize your Champion's abilities and what they do. I think that's the only thing the other competitors should learn from
I use to be on this heavy Tyra was my girl
Dropped the game when yagaroth(I think that's his name) dropped was a tank has 18 health bars and had one ability when he'd spit on you and give you aids and 27 different debuffs I hated it 🗿
Played this game for 1 year I did enjoy it a lot deleted it when I found out I’ll never be able to get any of the skins though which is half why I even downloaded it that and it was free.

We used to play this with my friend before he got Overwatch way back in like 2018 when it came out.
i remember playing this i stopped shortly after my friends stopped playing or hanging out since i hate playing alone
THEY ADDED GROVER INTO PALADINS!?
Context: Grover is the comapnion to Sylvanus in Hi-Rez's other major game SMITE. Its like a Ferra/Torr situation, but i had NO clue he was a stand alone character in Paladins WTH 😳
Paladin's had a third person mode, it actually felt really good, at least personally..... but then they removed it.
Hi-Rez always fumbling the ball lmao
Paladins mentioned in 2025!
I honestly love this game more than OW. The characters are more interesting, the designs and skins are fantastic, and the cards and talents offer variety OW could only dream of! My only issue is that Hi-Rez doesn't love the game as much as the community does, EM is practically a skeleton crew since they're diverting all hands to work on Smite 2.
*sees character in a mechanized battle suit*
Classic: It’s Dva!
I had never even heard of this game until seeing this short.
Bro they had 3rd person in the game before then they removed it
I remember playing Paladins back in the day when Overwatch 1 was big and honestly felt like Paladins was a lot smoother.
Her Playstyle with luna is unique and she is an amazing healer and can do great damage at the same time
I so loved the card system they had to make each character powers different plus those heros were boss
I would love to play Paladins again, but the servers have a weak connection where I'm at, and I can no longer access my account that I've been building for some time
I'm probably gonna end up playing Paladins again once I've got a computer again. The characters alone are honestly enough to keep me coming back. 😂
Still play every blue moon, when i get tired of every other game.
I was ON Paladins like crazy for such a long time
