    It's so cool to see these two collaborate. I've always thought of them as polar opposites; Asad being a more relaxed table magician and Jay Jay being a super energetic in the hands magician. Really cool to see them both teach!

    I used this trick one time when I messed up and pulled out the wrong card. I asked the spectator "what whas your card" they told me and I looked through the deck/cut the card to the top as I told them "I dont see it in here". then I palmed it out and pulled it from my pocket. everyone was blone away and nobody realized I messed up.

      I do that anytime I mess up. in fact i messed during a show, and luckily i knew where the card was, and then I grabbed the card from someone's hood.
      One tip instead of cutting it to the top use a spread cull to control the card to the top. Look through the deck and quickly find it. As soon as you find it get it in cull position and then you can show them "look your card isn't there" and then card to pocket"

    Hi guys. Great video. I teach Japanese, so to be clear and hopefully helpful, "sensei" is teacher while "senpai" is basically an older and more advanced student or someone who has been doing something longer who can help. It is often translated as "upperclassman" or "senior". I think it is totally appropriate for this situation.

    Okay, so I get how they did it the first time, you just palm the card, and while its palmed they put it in the pocket and take it out... What I dont get is how at 1:20 he has the card on his jean and it disappears beneath his hand and appears in his pocket - because when his hand goes in, his hand isn't in Palm position, meaning it has to already be inside the pocket? Any help?

    If anyone here isn't comfortable enough with palming yet, here's an alternative method using a double-backer:
    1. Begin with the double-backer secretly in your pocket
    2. Have a card selected and control it to the top
    3. Use whatever patter you like
    4. Get a break beneath the top card
    5. Place the double-backer on top of the deck (they think it's their card)
    6. Do a double turnover to show their card was in your pocket :)

    • @kieranbarker1902
      @kieranbarker1902 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lazarus thoreau I'm glad you like the idea! I first saw it on a DVD called Packet Killer featuring Simon Lovell. Sometimes other magicians criticise it when I tell them about it, saying "Why would you take the card out of your pocket and put it on the deck instead of just turning it over?" This is true, but I've performed this so many times and NOBODY has ever said anything or seemed suspicious. I think it kind of comes across as building suspense.

    • @kieranbarker1902
      @kieranbarker1902 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also worth noting that you could just start with any old indifferent card in your pocket. The only difference would be that after doing the double turnover, you'd need to do a cleanup sleight such as the KM Move (taught here on the channel).

  • @simonschmitt8248
    @simonschmitt8248 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I wouldn't say: "I will teach you" because you do not and you should not. I would prefer to say: "some people do it like this, they hold a card in there hand (show of the palm go in the pocket), but that's not how I am doing it" and then do the last phase clearly not palming anything. Much stronger in my opinion, because you don't teach/expose a move you are using, your exposing a 'cheaper' way that it could be done, but you are not using it (from the spectators point of view)

    Also, is there a way to search for specific videos on the app? Sometimes, I'll go into it looking for a specific move to see if I'm doing it right, but cannot find it because it would be categorized differently than I would assume (Like the "Rub a dub" vanish for example).

    You don't HAVE to be all that good at palming, if you use the misdirection properly. I used to be a terrible palmer but I'd go to this type of routine to get around that.
