    Great vid! This would be a great series. Like $1k, 2k 5k budget and see how the strategy differs. I would love to see how to go about going through a collection I just got out of the my garage since I was a kid. This is tough for me and I love seeing all these cards again. Curious how you'd go about going through your newly found old cards. Keep pumping out great content! Subbed!

    I would be extremely leery of buying possible “slab candidates” from Comc. Keep in mind, those are shipped in a 500 count box (more than often jammed) then from there, they’re being processed into a warehouse. Essentially you want to limit the times that the card is touched from its’ pack pulled condition.

      How I started, I picked my favorite veteran star player I grew up with. I didn’t just buy one or the best of something. I bought everything at the right price. I have cards to be graded(Like everyone else) but is it better to just hold off in the long run for PSA or Beckett. I know CSG & Others are accepting cards but usually most graded searchers look for these 2 companies. So should I just be patient? When psa opens up the slower tier options their pricing will probably still be higher than csg. Csg is at $12 a card for bulk rates. All depends on the card. If a high value one psa or Beckett. If low tier use one of the others. At one point psa was not the king of grading. That may change overtime.

    Sending in my first submission ever to CSG for my cards from early 70's late 60's. Can you do a video explaining all of the different types of cards that are available and which are the most popular. It seems to Chrome is top for baseball but I've seen so many variations of cards it's overwhelming. I'm seeing holiday cards, project 70 cards from tops, six different cards for the same year. If I want a rookie card for say Ronald Acuna Jr. which one should I get. Finally I enjoy collecting cards and all my kids are out of college now thank goodness. Would a bat or ball signed by Mike Trout, Tatis Jr., or Soto appreciate in value over time. I think the card market is way overpriced right now and will adjust. I did not think about searching for raw cards that's a good suggestions. I had an opportunity to buy a 1953 Jackie Robinson with a PSA 6 grade for $600.00 4 years ago. I couldn't do it with kids in college I'm still crying over that. Thanks for the information I enjoy your videos.

    • @PowersSportsMemorabilia
      @PowersSportsMemorabilia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice. I would suggest buying big name brands of cards you like. Trying to understand all the cards will be overwhelming at times. Find sets or designs you like. Focus on those. For example I’ve always liked panini revolution for basketball. Then buy all the players you like in that set. Autographs do appreciate over time assuming athlete doesn’t over sign and continues to raise their autograph pricing. I would bet tatis is probably undervalued. But all depends how his career goes. As always buy the players you like and can afford.

    It’s honestly not enough profit to waste time on. I would rather buy at a time of the year that drops the card prices. For example, when Joe Burrow got hurt his orange disco panini Prizm cards dropped to the low 140$ range. Now since the card hype has grown and the season is closer the cards are now back over 200$. Timing is key

    • @PowersSportsMemorabilia
      @PowersSportsMemorabilia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but for $140 you can buy 3 burrows for $420. What if the ones you get are crap and can’t be graded? Common Prizm problem. Then your only choice is to sell them raw and hope the price goes up on that one card. All eggs are in one basket. Goes up great. Goes down or flat lines you’re stuck. Timing will get you great deals, but for someone on a budget, going all in on one player or one card can be a death sentence if that player or card doesn’t pan out.

      If I had to choose one of the non PSA/BGS companies to trust it'd be CSG. My only real concern with them is whether they'll be able to handle the volume when they're inevitably flooded with cards from people who don't want to wait/pay for the big 2. But they have experienced people running the company, and their parent company CGC is one of the biggest in the entire grading industry. For some reason I just get a "shiny new toy" vibe from HGA. And from what I've seen I'm not sure SGC even wants to be in the card grading game long term anymore. They've been fighting to break into that top tier for years now but they've always been stuck at #3. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with slabbed cards long term. Companies are fighting to poach all the customers pissed off at PSA/BGS, and once those 2 start to clear their back logs the market is going to be flooded with low end graded cards. People are scooping up graded non rookie base cards right now because the supply is still limited, but I have a feeling that's a bubble that is going to burst. Higher end cards are going to be fine because the demand will continue to outproduce the supply, but I think alot of people are going to be disappointed when they get their lower end cards back in 8-10 months and they're fighting a flooded market.
