      you're so right, NY is so overrated (just ride their subway to see.) Then again, you also have the awful winters. NY is hell on earth, I only live here for the money, but here you can make no friends, you can't get laid, no social life, people are not even human, everybody is closed and distant (or rude.)

      If you have to say thing like "for the price" then you aren't in the target audience of the seller. This isn't meant to be you permanent home. This is a place you buy because a few weeks a year you have to go to NYC for a business trip. You could also let your kids stay here when they travel to NYC as well. This is the type of place that you don't get to live in if you even have to ask what price it is to know if you can afford it.

    • @Abyssinian97
      @Abyssinian97 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ThomasJr Nyc without a doubt has many flaws but you are wrong on a bunch of levels with your comment:
      -The MTA system is the best public transportation system in the country. Even regarding the insane delays and outdated mechanics of the system its still mostly reliable and can get you to pretty much every corner of the city.
      -If you can't successfully have a social life in one of the most dense and connected cities in the world the problem isn't the city lol I've met amazing people in 4 out of the 5 boroughs whether it was friends, lovers or employers and those were just from public interactions.
      -When it comes to the people acting closed and distant its for a good reason. Having self awareness in a city as fast paced and chaotic as here will do that to you. Especially if the government is ignoring the homeless and mental health issues ongoing. Being constantly stopped or harrassed by the mentally deranged, scammers and flat out crackheads on the streets is a real issue and many of us would rather be safe than sorry.
      -The winters aren't really all that different from the rest of the northeast but snowstorms can impact the roads and transportation significantly.

      I was thinking the same. It's interesting to compare the homes of the wealthiest in the East Coast vs. those in the West Coast. The homes of the film stars and celebrities - the new rich - of California are huge, extravagant mansions equipped with every possible sort of item of luxury and comfort. Whereas those of the wealthiest in New England seem to still live the lives of their puritan ancestors. These buldings do not seem luxurious from the outside at all. And even in the inside they are more like having a kind of smart, calmly convenient design. Not the exorbitant, ostentatious expression of wealth of Beverly Hills. These people seem to hide their riches and prefer to express them in more subtle ways. The customary suit that these businesspeople always wear is I think also an example of that. It resembles the attire of a vicar in its purity and simplicity. Even the Norman manors of the country of NY state seem to be very cold and very purist to me. All that being said I'd probably rather choose the West Coast. It just feels more humane.

      People who buy these kind of properties more often than not have multiple other homes as well, so for them it's not a question of buying one place instead of another. Many rich New Yorkers own houses out on Long Island as well so they can have the best of both worlds.
