    This is the first video about the Astron I’ve seen that actually revealed the hidden adjustable clasp. I am interest in getting one but was terrified that the clasp wasn’t adjustable and I hate that in an integrated bracelet. Thank you for showing me.

    Chris's reviews are always focused on both the collector and just someone who wants a great watch. Sure, there are a lot of watches that come close to the Astron, but none of them match this quality and of course, the "wrist impact". Lastly, you just can't beat Little Treasury Jewelers for their sales and service. Give Little Treasury a try, you'll be glad you did.

    Nice thorough review. There’s a lot to like on this watch. I’ve had a similar watch in my collection for over a decade as a travel watch, a Citizen EcoDrive World Time AT. This has some major improvements over that one that I see - titanium case, so 2/3 the weight; modern GPS time setting instead of radio setting, second time zone with time zone switching; and a micro adjust on the bracelet. The dial is busy, but all of the features have a use. Strong entrant and I think a good purchase for a luxury watch collector who spends some time in airplanes. Thanks

    I'm wearing the Starking AM0184, because it's the only watch I could find (that I liked) that's under $100 that's automatic, sapphire class and (decorated) see through case back. Got it as a replacement for my Seiko SNKL45K1 after I dropped it after owning it for just one week :(
    I know Starking doesn't really count as a watch manufacturer since they replicate swiss movements but apart from that, I think it's one of the best automatic watches you can get for this money. The fact that it's real leather at this price with these kind of features is stunning to me. It's also got a blue second hand, 25 jewels and an alleged 10 ticks per second (pretty sure it's 6 though). And to be fair it wasn't even $100, more like half that because I got a set (mens + womens) for $100 👀
    This astron is definitely on my wishlist though after Ripple gets its bullrun, together with the Grand Seiko SLGH005 😍

    Great video. One thing that you could emphasize on your next review of an Astron is the dual time function for watch guys that are traveling. I have many mechanical watches but want a “travel watch”, something under the radar, with dual time capabilities. This or the Citizen Navihawk might just be the right one…

  • @miklosmaraczi8807

    Very nice and informative video. Subscribed.
    While watching the video I'm wearing my Omega PO 39.5mm watch. I'm here because I'm looking for a grab-and-go accurate watch, that is lighter and slimmer than this diver - all while looking good in any setting, from the office to the playground. The Omega would be reserved for special occasions and formal events.
    A few years back I had a first generation Astron that I loved, but ultimately sold for being too big. I want something like that again in a more wearable package.
    I'd like to choose between this and the new SSH117. Also thinking about the SSH069 and SSH079 for slightly less bling.

    I’m surprised by how illegible the subdials look on this piece, usually Seiko are all over this. I think for me I would always prefer a tough solar, multi band 6 G Shock for this sort of watch that you never have to think about. I do love the grey colour way though!

    I just got mine. I unpacked it but my bracelet does not have the same sealing. I have the tag but one side of the bracelet has no plastic folia on it and the other only has it at the top 2 links to the not all the way down. I guess it was opened and taken off. I'm planning to return it explaining that it's not new. Is this normal that every watch does not have the same sealing?

    • @Littletreasury
      @Littletreasury  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, where did you get it from? Was it an authorized dealer? The plastic can be inconsistent, but perhaps it was in a display case before being shipped out. I don't think that it is fair to say that it isn't new-- it most likely is.

    • @bmwforlife6951
      @bmwforlife6951 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Littletreasury It was an authorized dealer. But I understand that they have to test it. I will keep it. What surprised me the most is the handling of the functions. It's super easy. Does it really automatically search for the sattelite? In the manual I cannot find info about how to check the last update of the search.

    • @beardymcbeardface69
      @beardymcbeardface69 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bmwforlife6951 While the watch left sub-dial indicator is displaying the power reserve, as is normal, press and release the A button (top). This will display the type of last GPS reception (1 for time sync-only or 4+ for timezone and time sync) and whether reception was successful (Y) or not (N).
      I have an SSH135 with the same movement module (5X53) and I can confirm that my watch does indeed automatically sync it's time to 1 GPS satellite when it detects the bright light of being outside in the day.
      What this movement does not do is automatically check the timezone and then set the time, as this is a function which must be manually started (by pressing and holding the bottom B button for 3 seconds).
      If you find that your watch failed it's last GPS reception time sync (for example if it was exposed to bright light whilst indoors and far from a window) and you want to force it to try again when you are outside, you can press and hold the top A button for 3 seconds to achieve that.

      Hi Pierre, it sounds like it is a subtle issue and I recommend taking a breath and waiting a few days to see if this still bothers you. If so, I'm sure it could be fixed by the factory, or fixed when you send it in for service in the future.

    • @beardymcbeardface69
      @beardymcbeardface69 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you pause the video around the 2:27 mark, note how narrow the distance between the lugs is. Only 14mm. This means that this watch needs the integrated bracelet which it comes with.
      Unless of course you can find a watch band that is only 14mm and you're okay with how that looks! ;)

    • @beardymcbeardface69
      @beardymcbeardface69 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Say No to quartz!"
      Your SNR051 Spring Drive uses quartz time keeping!
      "Quartz Hybrid (Solar & Battery)"
      Not sure what you mean by hybrid here, with relation to solar and battery. All watches which use quartz timekeeping, require electrical power which could come from a battery or capacitor (with both of these able to be charged by a solar cell) or otherwise a traditional mainspring driving a generator, as is the case with Spring Drive.
      If anything, the closest thing to a quartz hybrid would be your Spring Drive, since it uses quartz time keeping to *_slow_* the watch movement, as opposed to traditional quartz movements which use quartz time keeping to *_advance_* the movement.
      Hopefully you might one day be able to appreciate the horological value of different types of timekeeping. I have Swiss automatic and quartz watches, including a Seiko Astron and have my eye on some Spring Drives.
      The Astron's are accurate to between 1 second every 100,000 years and 1 second every 100,000,000 years (depending on the model of satellite time synced to), for a watch that is merely solar powered! From a horological standpoint, this is pretty incredible.
