Hello, Steve. Thank you, again for your excellent reviews and sharing your discovery in music, too. I really appreciate your time and service and most importantly, the joy you bring to our hobby.

Great to be able to compare 3 excellent spearkers. That's very useful for those shopping near that price range. As always, I would have a well integrated subwoofer and not just for bass.

Nice review! What should be interesting is comparing the 89 with it’s predecessor the Studio. It’s exactly the same building and looks and sounds incredible for the price (sale around $1000) I enjoy this speaker now for a couple of years.
Seems ribbon tweeters are making a comeback…..they used to be a little “hot” for me. Noted some wonderful designs at Axpona. Great review. Love all the comparisons. These speakers are gorgeous.
I was surprised and delighted to see A Certain Ratio Sextet mentioned. Great album! I have several CDs by A Certain Ratio and all are really excellent.
Can't wait for rhe music part of it. I'm jealous of your shirts. I'm waiting a month for my wife to sew a button on one of my favorites. LOL, I can do it myself actually.
If you buy these speakers plus the stands that's $3250.00 . Most minitowers won't have the imaging or folded diaphragm tweeter at this price , but something like the $3K Clayton Shaw Caladan open baffle offers deeper bass , greater sensitivity although a 4 ohm load . It's larger size may have a lower WAF , though .The silk dome tweeter has charms of it's own , but different . audition
Right I reviewed the Clayton speaker. But it is not a small room speaker it needs to be well out from the wall, a dealbreaker for most people. So again, there's no best, each buyer has specific needs, even when the retail price is nearly the same.
It sounds to me like you could use a reference subwoofer in your system. It wouldn't have to be something huge. A sealed 6 5" or 8" sub would work nicely. #justsayin 😊
Thanks but the catch with using a subwoofer with a speaker review i'm reviewing, then I'm listening to two things at the same time. It's hard enough to describe the sound of a speaker, without adding another speaker (subwoofer).
@@GordJuby You play them with and without the Sub. And then you tell us what the difference is.. This isn't Rocket Science. Other HiFi (and Car Audio) Channels do this all the time...

Great channel Steve, thx for great information! I have a question, I have a pair of Vienna acoustics Mahlers. What would be your recommendation to power these monsters under $2000? Amp and preamp, thx . Open question to all readers.
if you want something fantastic for the money here is my tip - get a vintage CD player such as the Rega series - no need for a preamp use just an impedance matching circuit with out gain stage such as the PASS B1 buffer ......... no need for an amp - get a set of self powered Focal EVO 50 studio monitors ....... the combo is jaw dropping for a total 900 bucks for everything ..... oh for interconnect you can DIY a set ...... very thin pure silver wire run like railroad tracks sandwiched between clear box packing tape ........ look it up - I am not joking !
Steve, I listen to all your videos. I value your reviews. I have a question. I was a rock guy in my younger years. But now I’m in my mid 70s and listen to mainly jazz, mostly piano jazz. Bill Evans, Monk, Oscar Peterson, Bob James, well you get the picture. So I don’t really look for the chest pounding bass anymore. If you review speakers, can you offer up, in your opinion, what types of music to speakers would be best suited for. Just a suggestion. Thanks
First of all, I love your videos thank you for all the information. I have a question for you. I have a pair of Vienna acoustic Mahlers, and I’m looking for a system to run them properly maybe under 2000 but I am willing to go higher if I have to. i’ll pose this question to the readers also thank you
I referred to soundstage width, which was very good. And I also said that the studio 89 didn't do as well with dimensionality, let's just call that a 3-D like quality.
The configuration two woofers and a tweeter on the middle is similar to Triangle (I think) which can be used as a center speaker and L + R channels. I have an older Monitor Audio bookshelf speaker from the 90s which I liked.
ACR, an excellent music choice. Run do not walk to play the track Shack Up. ACR were one of a slew of bands reacting to punk & Thatcher's Britain. I listened to the John Peel BBC FM radio show nightly during this period & recorded the best including the sessions, that were often better than LPs. I'm lucky to have lived thru that exciting period, never to be repeated. Cheers!
