I used to love the Games workshop on Newgate Street. Newcastle. 1st floor had 8 or 9 full tables for customers to play on while the ground floor had space to build and paint and with introductory games for the different systems. Now they've moved locations and looks the same as all the others.
Sadly seems to be the story wherever you go now. Small, samey, sterile, sucky stores. . . and half the time don't even have what you're looking for.
@@GannAinmI remember I went to a gw store looking for a leman Russ something common for the guard they didn't have any I went to several stores one I didn't even know about and all of them had leman Russ' in stock

I used to go to the same shop at NCL when back at Uni 2008-12. Is it possibile we met lol. What a place that was, they even used to organise buses to go to Warhammer World for tournaments. That Newgate shop truly is a Paradise Lost. How mamy good times I had there playing WFB and Mordheim...
Newcastle store on Newgate Street was amazing. Certain stores at that time had like bunker status and it was class going upstairs to all the tables for gaming! Recently asked Metro store about any local gaming clubs and they just said look online which was a sad indictment of how far removed the stores are from gaming!

Dark Souls does NOT break all its rules to frustrate the player. It actually does a pretty good job at following its rules. It’s not perfect, but it’s not arbitrary either.
Read the title and the same happened to me, I was accused of stealing a dreadnought when i stood at the till for over 10 minutes because the member of staff was too busy trying to convince a parent or newbie into buying a boxset they didnt want.
They noticed me at the till and rather than leaving the poor bastard alone and selling me the dread, they continued, 10 mins later I stuck the item back on the shelf. The following week I got dragged into the office by the manager and grilled for 20 minutes.... ever since that day I spend my money at 3rd party retailers, and only buy from GW if necessary 😅
I’ve been part of a group of “team jersey” players. It has its benefits, and it has its drawbacks. I do know that it is not for me. On the one hand, it is good to have a group of like-minded people to boost you up, when your gameplay has been tactically sound, but the dice hate you. On the other hand… people! Bleh! 😈
Seriously, though, I can appreciate the want to belong, and jerseys are entirely appropriate for some games, such as Blood Bowl. And it can generate some great tabletop rivalries, as long as no one takes it too seriously. Also, there is a sense of pride when one, or more, of “your team” takes out a tournament, or wins a category.

just to comment about how GW staff always seem to badger customers into buying/starting space marines, why dont they just sell space marine stuff in store only? take it as serious or not serious as you like when responding.

I tried to enjoy Dark Souls. I really did! It's just too masochistic to be fun. I have recently been replaying Doom 2016 & Doom Eternal (including the Ancient Gods dlc). Used to find those games difficult. But after taking a break & then going back to them, I found I really enjoyed the difficulty & the learning curve. 👍

Dogging competitive players is low hanging fruit and is based on old prejudice from years ago.
I Don't know Susan so I can't and won't say I don't like her, and I am going on one email only so I may be way off, but I will say Susan sounds to me like the people who came in saying "Star Wars (or Warhammer) is for everyone" and once they were completely accept because it always was for everyone, then start saying, "Star Wars (or Warhammer) is for everyone but not YOU, or you or you or you because YOU don't like the things I like!" Like I said could be way off and I am jaded because it's very common in a lot of IPs and I could be way off, so I am not going to say this absolutely or like I am actually right about her.
As someone who has looked into competitive and and such WTC is one of most balanced ways to play Warhammer. This person just seems vehemently against any sort of competitive playing.
As someone who got into the gaming side of 40 K with the express intention to be competitive, I completely agree, this person just hates the idea of competitive play, and what people failed to realizes a lot of these games are structured with the intent to be competitive, and with as much money as most of us put into our armies, is there really Any question as to why.

I'm so glad my store still has a soul. People still go in to talk to staff and buy things. Some of the staff are from the old days (2nd ed). Even old staff from other stores still visit.

Ha ha, the first story complains about meta or serious players, but her two favorite armies in 10th are Sisters and Chaos Spaxe Marine, super high win rates in competitive.
Sisters (in one detachment), CSM are good if you are high skill atm.
@Tulkash01 Yes, however I am not going on current meta. At the beginning of 10th CSM and Aeldari were both the best armies. CSM took home the win on the world stage (even though there's a lot of shade on that specific match). After the balance data slate that came after the slight buffs and lack of nerfs the sisters faced, put them in a large lead over other armies other than the Necrons. Current 10th with the new books and everything is completely different.
@@seeya20743 not to be nitpicking but right at the start of 10th CWE were clearly on top, while CSM were good but not as strong. It took the first dataslate nerfs to briefly bring CSM on top and it didn’t last. If this girl is collecting DE, CSM and SoB I think it’s reasonable she’s not doing it because abuse of their meta viability.
@Tulkash01 I'm not going to say she's meta chasing, that is evident by the DE. I'm saying that to complain about people who focus on competitive, while running two very strong armies is very funny and ironic. It's like saying, "Hey, let's play a friendly game," and show up with a direct counter to your opponent or showing up with a very strong list that can shoot someone off the table turn two just because that's what they collected. I am pointing out her irony, not any hypocrisy.
@@seeya20743 I got what you meant, I just think it’s worth pointing out how you can very easily field a top competitive army and do badly against a better player than you are even if he’s playing something which in theory is way less powerful than you are, say playing a fluffy black Templar list (not the 100+ model horde obviously) vs a competitive GSC list. On paper Black Templars are way more powerful but a good GSC player can run circles around a casual BT player.
