Yea the infection system can be a pain, a few tips. 1. Find the booze antiseptic asap, it's that absinthe stuff, really common in the house loot, can be found in a few other places too. That can save you if you disinfect, you will never find the medical disinfectant outside the military loot areas most of the time, so that's your best bet. Also you have to realize if you bandage a wound, it increases the contamination, even the non-dirty rags. 2. If you don't have disinfectant you can bandage and unbandage a wound to keep it in the treatment phase, use soap and wash, remove clothing, and rest. You may get rid of the infection before you have to fight it in the recovery phase. Resting improves your recovery rate and aids the fight against pathogens. Also, a note when fighting in SCUM, I noticed you used the bow a lot. You didn't carry a good melee weapon though, always have a knife on a hotkey, that could have saved you so many times, as a knife can stun-lock zombies, etc if you keep slashing them. You also didn't use terrain very well, yes you can jump in windows, but what you can do is light a firecracker and perch on a small building that they can't jump onto, or just play hop the fence to get them to get stuck, you can also run and hide from them. You can run through patches of bushes and the dive prone. If they lost sight of you, you can use that time to rest. Sneaking around and using sound to distract large groups is an essential skill to learn. You can get them to kill themselves if you can run along a cliff or jump over a too-tall object. Lot of ways to keep from getting hit. You can also buttstroke with most ranged weapons (default: middle mouse), like the shotgun, giving you enough space to get off a shot. You can bunny hop out of a zombie pack if they have you cornered, by jumping you can sometimes jump out of a horde, especially if you can boost off an object.
at first it will not seem logical; you have to have the booze\antiseptic in your hand then you will get the option to disinfect. and you can only do this to Rags, not dirty rags. But again, new folks will have a hard time finding this out.
Yeah, thank you for all the helpful tips i learned If you get cornered with the bow you can press the middle mouse button and just punch them to get another arrow in
@@echo1-120 Yea also realize you can sneak up on just about anything if your patient enough. One thing I do a lot of is sneaking up on zombies with the knife and stun locking them from behind until they die. This is also useful on animals, I've killed most animals doing this, though it can be a bit tricky with wolves. I like the pickaxe, metal sword, and all the other swords, and it's nice to use a bayonet if you get to that point. Knife is king though, the ability to quickly draw it in close quarters, no real swing time is what saves you, not so much the damage.
Future refrence. Clicking your mouse scroll wheel while holding a bow and arrow will punch a zombie and stun them long enough to draw back and shoot. And you dont need to fully pull back a bow to shoot a arrow. The draw back doesnt have an effect on the arrows velocity or how much damage it does
Let me just say this game is way better than DayZ even in it's current stage. This is from someone who played DayZ SA nonstop and also the mod before that.
If you look at the steam chart numbers they tell a different story. Scum has been hovering around 10,000 average players for the last 3 years. In that same time frame DayZ has been growing and is currently hovering around 35,000 average players. And those are just the numbers for PC. Factor in console and DayZs player count dwarfs scums on a good day.
I think Scum's biggest downfall is how realistic it is. The realism adds a bunch of tedium such as using the bathroom and balancing vitamins and minerals. I doubt many people wanna play a game with that high level of tediousness. It's kinda like asking, wanna play a game called real life? It is a great educational tool to learn how to survive a real life SHTF scenario, however. I love the stat and skill concept in the game and I wish DayZ had that, bummer.
@@todahisreal6378 you're trolling. Scum is realistic? hahahahahahaha HOW? I mean if you live in a cartoon world, sure... 1. let's see, metabolism, looks complex, doesn't work, and you can totally not pay attention to it and be fine, same with cooking and literally every other system in the game... which is waaaaaay behind on what dayz has' had since day 1. 2. No mater which body type character you make, you can jump 1.5 meters high , because people are made out of balloons I guess... not to mention people sprinting at 30km/h while looking like looney toons. And because of the messed up world scale and characters, it looks even faster. 3. Jump off the 3 storey building, no problem... continue running and pretend nothing happened.. 4. you have a single map which is really not that big and has 3 different climates and biomes. Mediterranean ( 30°C and above ), Snowy mountain ( less than 0°C ), Continental croatia... same level of "realism" as minecraft. Because once you cross that river ... oh boy, temperature drops by 30°C 5. the game limits your IRL skills based on your ingame skills. Meaning you can't see person in the bush because the game mechanic doesn't let you. which in DayZ, and any other game, you'll obviously see a person inside of the bush if you pay attention to it. And other stupid system like that.. 6. the visual style of the game is all over the place. Nothing is streamlined and it feels like they copy pasted different assets from other games. Which they did, from the asset store, which all cheap studios do. And to prove my point, they are adding a city of PRIPYAT to croatia.. which is the most ..lazy thing to do... cos they found assets on the store, or reworked the existing ones.. which 10 games already had... honestly this list can honestly go on forever... but no scum is neither realistic nor challenging. Especially when you compare it to DayZ. The only challenge in scum is to not die out of boredom while watching that circle spin as you're looting million boxes and cupboards so you can stash it in the base that nobody will ever see.. Every scum update is like something totally random that doesn't follow the path of previous updates..
Meh I don't think its going the right way. To many time waste mechanics not enough performance updates. DayZ is miles ahead due to it being carried by modders. Scum needs to let modders in before its to late
Did you say realism? So do you take a shit with your pants on? In your world you cannot cook animal meat on an open fire? A game is not realistic and it will never be.
You can also find antibiotics in the toilets inside bunkers, also in the pharmacies in the bigger towns, and at the hospital in B0. Puppets phasing through walls/doors is not actually a game issue, so don't blame Scum for that. The issue is caused by UE4 rendering limitations.
