@@Sweating_Geography there are a few tips you could use to improve the pronunciation, as it's mostly read as it's written. "C" is always pronounced ch like chat when before i and e, and like k, as in cat, in all other cases. Same applies with "G", pronounced like in jet and get respectively. While "GN" is almost always pronounced like in gnome, and the vowels are never silent.
Hi mate I know that you like learning pronunciation, so a little rule that can help you with italian places The syllabes ca, che, chi, co and cu are pronounced with an hard c, so like a k. The syllabes cia, ce, ci, cio, ciu are pronunced with a soft c, similar to the english ch Same thing with g, but the soft ones is similar to an english j and the hard ones with a normal g like in english Gn is like the Spanish ñ Gl is a bit difficult to compare but the closest thing i can think of is the spanish LL Great video as always
@Sweating_Geography Aye sir! The name just means Old City and it's because (according to legends) a sailor convinced everyone to go back to the old settlement after everyone evacuated due to saracen raids
As someone who was born in Aversa (Campania) but now lives in Carpi (Emilia-Romagna), sadly Aversa's population just dropped under 50k last year! It's around 49k now.
And a few sidenotes: Cities in Italy added in the Europe 50k+ cities quiz: Rho, Rovigo, Ardea (off the top of my head, there may be some more but I don't remember them ATM) Cities in Italy removed in the Europe 50k+ cities quiz: Scandicci, Aversa, Cava de Tireni (also off the top of my head, I'm sure there are many more that were removed but aren't remembering ATM)
Great pronunciation for a non-Italian speaker. However, I have to correct somenthing. In this test, there are no apostrophes, so the real name of the Abruzzo city you wrote as "laquila" is "L' Aquila", which means "The Eagle".
@@Sweating_Geographyyou're right about stressing the second to last syllable, that's the general rule. However, there are plenty of exceptions: Téramo, Rímini, Údine, Módena, Cúneo, Pésaro, Bérgamo, Cágliari, Bríndisi, Táranto... Just off the top of my head
It is when you have to learn over 100 places a day, commit them to memory, and balance that with school and life. Trust me, I wouldve loved to have an extra hour to look up and learn all of the pronunciations 💀. I am quite literally up until 2am everyday doing work and I wake up at 5am...I don't wanna hear anything about new side hobbies
@Sweating_Geography yeah that's a fair point. Maybe it didn't sound friendly how I said it. I actually think that you may have time for this at some point. Still, you know what is important for you

I am Italian, i know all of these by name but surely I couldn't remember all when prompted so it's damn impressive!
Thanks!
I was on the stream. Also, you did a good job remembering them all.

Yeah, I'm aware of the apostrophe. I just didn't type it. I didn't know it meant the eagle though so thanks for the info!
Error in the title, it says 193 50k cities, not 141
Moncalieri and Scandicci are tuff
Yeah. Pretty small.
Good Job, unfortunately this map is obsolete cities like Aversa, Cava De' Tirreni and Mazara del Vallo no longer have 50k
Yeah, in the finale they'll be gone and the new cities will be added 😊
