  • William Link and lifelong collaborator Richard Levinson co-created the long-lived television series' Columbo and Murder She Wrote as well as other crime dramas such as Mannix. They won multiple Emmy and WGA Awards and nominations for their television movie and series writing and producing. Here Link discusses his background, education, partnership with Levinson and prolific career. Interviewed by Julia Brady Jenner. Recorded May 22, 2000. Part 2 of 2.

    How could this not have zillions of views, the man is a brilliant historian; articulates effortlessly like it all happened yesterday.

    This should be a “must hear” for anyone in search of something in life. Passionate and driven. Strange world we live in where a clip like this is barely watched. A true treasure.

    Amazing career and the tellng of it ! Columbo was one of my favorite mystery detective TV series !

    I stumbled onto this, but found it fascinating. I remember watching all those shows with my folks back in the day.

    As I see it, the only actors who would have successfully played Columbo (besides Peter Falk, who was perfect) would be Walter Matthau or Jack Klugman. Either one of them could have been great, too. Can you imagine if there was a different Columbo? Thankfully, we have Peter Falk. I can't imagine Bing Crosby as Columbo. He was too polished and debonaire.
