I think the 'bad boys' that show their false bravado are easier to manipulate. Women can toy with them easier. Real men don't need to constantly prove themselves and have a hidden, quiet confidence.
8:00 "Allegory and myth are usually the best way to illustrate psychological facts, because they carry a very, very broad symbolic bandwidth which includes emotion, intentionality, reconfiguration in the terms of archetypes..."
Hi again Ethan Guitar my friend, many thanks, we will be doing a full series on Lilith, to include the Anima, Animus, Gnosticism, Psychological Alchemy, the Shadow, The Self, Individuation and the Hero Cycle. Kindest Regards, Steve.
I'm curious to know: how might the sexual repression of lust brought about by one's religious beliefs affect one's Anima/Animus? If someone is a Christian with a strong sense of following The Word, how will the limits they impose upon the expression of their sexuality affect them psychologically?
Hi YuhakushoWeebtard, this will vary, but it will certainly have an effect. Sexuality is only one way of relating, but it is instinctive and under genomic pressure for expression and fulfillment. A successfully held-to religion can act as a containing vessel for the Anima, but as we know from the amount of abuse that occurs within organized, sexually repressive religions, it often fails and surfaces in the form of 'power', in the sense that Jung said that the opposite of love is not hate, but the will to power. The Anima is also a multi-factorial phenomenon, whose dark or negative pole is in effect a 'death demon', just as the Animus' negative side is. As a fundamental Jungian principle: watch your Anima, it'll masquerade as your Shadow and fool you into thinking you know it. What is within, so too is without. All exterior relating, mirrors that on the inside. When you think you see your shadow, trace its outline, it may be something else... Kindest Regards, Steve.
I found this channel and this material and these brilliant people after a therapy session where my Therapist asked me if we'd discussed the Anima and Animus yet. Now Im even more eager for our next appointment than I usually am!
So peculiar, as I was walking yesterday I was talking to my anima and it said 'the soil is the blood of the planet' so it was very interesting to see that perception floating around in the collective unconscious when it arose in the story.
Hi again Moons_Mind, many thanks, we will be doing a full series on Lilith, covering all the major elements of Jungian psychology, including alchemy and gnosticism. Kindest Regards, Steve.
Thanks guys for a great video! I can definetely relate to what you have said in older videos about pumping up the masculine side. On the shit test part - when you say Lilith felt like Adam was not 'enough' for her - does it reffer to psychological aspect of a man or both psychological and physical? Is the 'shit test' a way for a man to transform (aside being a test to see if he is suitable mate for a female)? Basically learning to stand your ground? Tbh most shit tests I have encountered where form childish and spoiled women (I will join discord soon, sooo many questions in my head!), I do not see how this fit into women testing an inferior man... Also how a 'bad boy' often broke, with addictions etc gets so many women around? I understand basic concept from 'rational male' book but how does it fit into Jungian perspective, the idea of paradise for woman?
Hi again ineffige, we'll be posting a video follow up to this tonight, hope that helps. Thanks again for your continued support, and great to see you on the Discord! Kindest Regards, Steve.
Fascinating as ever. I have previously posted as TheVimFuego, this is me going forward. I have been driven by forces as yet unknown to stop hiding behind an alter ego and be more me so, Hello!
Hi again Matt, nice to know you've stepped out from behind your persona! Hope you'll be enjoying the full Lilith series as it unfolds. Kindest Regards, Steve.

Great show man can you pls grab audacity or any audio software and use a compressor to match the level of your two voices it’s very diff to keep riding the volume for an hour 😉 much appreciation for your efforts love the show
Hi Dan, we've tried all sorts of combos but oddly nothing's quite worked yet. We will be upping the production value overall very soon and hopefully that'll fix it. Kindest Regards, Steve.
Great beard James! I often hear this 'gender is a social contruct' stuff nowadays, but it seems rather nonsensical from a Jungian perspective. Are these top-down gender ideas potentially dangerous for psychological development?
Hi again Knight Arnold my friend. Yes, they can be as if not properly balanced by insight in the unconscious and it’s foundation in instinct and the genome. Unwitting separation from the psyche’s roots are always paid for by at the very least a neurosis, personal or collective- cultural. Kindest Regards, Steve.
Where have the oddyseus lectures gone? Do u think u Will re upload it or go futher with the series? Because i really like the concept of you Guys discussing the different archetypes out of these stories, see it from a philosofical perspective. Very interesting video btw
The Odyssey Lectures will return when 1) the new recording set-up is all sorted out, 2) I’ve become familiar enough with the Bio-Psychosocial Model to keep up with James, and 3) I’ve conquered my complexes that have sprung up around that particular subject. Hang in there, Lodewijk - they’ll be here before you know it, pal. 😁
Hi Lodewijk Napoleon Bonaparte, thanks for your very kind words. Hope that you enjoy Lilith as a full series as we move forward. Kindest Regards, Steve.
Hi again Info Overdose, yes, it will manifest that way, certainly. The core issue of the negative Anima is exactly 'where' it operates (routinely) in a man's psyche. Not to be too intentionally cryptic about this, but it's exactly where you least expect it, and ordinarily where you would perhaps, never look. Both poles of the Anima are unconscious, at least at the beginning of the process of Anima development, but the way they manifest is intriguingly different. We'll be covering this in the next installment of the Lilith podcast series. Kindest Regards, Steve.
Thank you for this clear Video, You explained it all very well. I believe In the end women need men who embrace their feminine energy without ending up gay, "69" Balance is Virtue, But also aknowledge and allows women to have a dark side and display it safely. But I'm personally having a great trouble with this because being born as both genders and having one physically suppressed destroyed my whole identity, Since doctors choose my gender (boy) for me when i was a baby, and i discovered this only after 26 years, i was a normal straight male. It feels like i was forced to be something I am not, and my whole life was just a lie, being a straight guy doesn't bother me at all, but i'm very confused on how to deal with my Anima?/Animus? As for sexuality I'm strangely attaracted to feminine women and female looking hermaphrodites, I believe the suppression of my feminine body aspects, made my Animus retreat into my unconsciousness and my Anima took over the personality playing the role of a male, JUST what a mess... I think even Carl Jung would throw the towel on such cases.
Hi again Seek The Truth, thanks so much for sharing, my deepest respect to you, for your courage, and all Blessings, for your journey. Kindest Regards, Steve 🙏
Primitive Man - fear of nature. Development of hierarchical statures, inevitable due to differing abilities-fear of fellow men- this probably is precursor of -Original Sin leading to knowledge of good and evil. Or, more accurately, fear of fellow humans leading to development of rules based social structures, primarily to curtail arbitrary violence- to comply with the most basic of instincts - survival. Men thus developing intense fear of being and guilt of ( and later on as mentioned below, paradoxically, also a new form of reward- urge to and thrill of going against the norms) having been bad to a fellow human. The above fear bringing to the fore( deliberately not using the term consciousness) another hidden of an instinct , though a little less basic than survival- Individuality, and individual consciousness. A constant tug of war between conformist urge to support survival and a non conformist approach to individual identity, but the knowledge of good and evil looming over both the urges( the consequence of original sin can't be undone )- this is what Nietzsche was probably referring to in the phrase 'revaluation of values' , in as much as that, if one has to inevitably feel fear and guilt let them be on one's own terms! Now let's weave in your allegory into this- the Demiurge ( Male archetype) also probably a denizen of pleroma as Lilith, but in competition with the female principle, projects and narrows down His consciousness in Adam to hope to create from his will emanating from his consciousness, albeit limited, a female counterpart for the Demiurge much more palatable than the pleromic one. But, it so happens Adam too conjures up a Lilith like feminine counterpart. The Demiurge presciently suspicious of such a likelihood scenario having instilled in Adam the concept of his creation as His will( rules based and individuality deprived society) . Thus, Adam subverting his instinct and desire for Lilith and hence individuality by settling for a more Demiurge compliant Eve and in the process assuring his survival in the Demiurge's happiness. ( While Lilith would be attracted to Adam knowing that , since he is a limited version of the Male Demiurge , he could be compliant and fulfill Her desire for integration with the Male factor- She could have also created an earth and eden like structure and willed an limited copy of Herself to explore a Male counterpart just like Her pleromic Male Demiurge had done- but not done, an narrative on women generally depending upon men to provide for them?) Now, again reverting to biology rather than allegory. Random mutations in eve's descendants would produce lilith like feminine beings. Their abundance in certain cultures would have two effects. One, intense pressure to create a monotheistic religion with a father figure of a God, so as to maintain balance( a need for which would have arisen only by comparing with societies with all compliant eves). This would have lead to a sudden release of ' pressure' which probably explained the initial spread of a monotheistic faith via sword. Though its the second effect which is more common in the urge in humans for expansion by conquering- the effect that lilith like women have on men's development as truly individuals and also fully opening up their instinctive potentials on finding their real anima( a huge spark of creativity).' Helen ofTroy' is the archetypal myth in support of the latter effect. And, contrary to the above, in societies with an dearth of Lilith like women, there would be persistence of polytheism with especial emphasis on Feminine Goddesses with warrior like traits- a compensation,a lack of vision for greatness as is traditionally understood and dying out of the creative potential which nature had imbued in all of its creation As an aside, too much of orderliness and conformity leads to one very pervasive fear- fear of physical violence, which increases with primitive to modern. But, the instincts don't change, hence, non violent forms of persecutions , etc. increase, but due to the development of the instinct of fear and guilt ain the very youth of human evolutionary exxistence, a lot mental and even physical diseases. I may dare add, that's why origin and persistence of a faith universally perceived as violent- to restore the balance between collective and individual by reducing the fear and guilt of physical pain . A supportive proof of that is in Jung's oft repeated statement that when we presume by way of perception something as evil in another it's more often than not a projection. Something which we have not been able to integrate and remains as an unaligned complex, and here I posit this - violence, as well as racism, is too basic an instinct to be wished away with fancy ideologies. Two concepts I would have liked to integrate here but failed to - cognitively- Amazonian women, and Dr. E. Perel's theory on infidelity.
This is all well and interesting but I'm massively confused as to how to implement this. I just don't get it. Our current cultural situation goes against everything in evolution. It seems to affect women more than men from my observations but in short, morality is a laughing matter (why are you so serious), we're all supposed to not care for anything, take everything ironically, detach from what we want because it's just cooler to look like you aren't trying. But inside we suffer in isolation. To use the current kerfuffle of verbiage the more perceptive introverted ones start to socially isolate, detach from society and by extension, life. We're just supposed to accept whatever rolls our way. Good and bad start blending together and become inverted in what I see in the masses, and exploited by people with power that can see what's going on. Anyway, rant over. I'm just pissed off I can't relate and find a good partner for more than casual bullshittery.
I think you should concentrate on your own individuation and try to be the best version of yourself. That should attract like minded people who you can bond with. Hang in there!
Hi Jan U, yes, the current Zeitgeist is a difficult one. I'd agree with Jung, that any change has to start with individuals. A commitment to inner change does attract people to you. Kindest Regards, Steve.
