Ppl will never understand what makes old school maple better. It’s the party play! Quests actually meant something! Bosses were actually BOSSES vs it just being a place for 🐳 to gang up on but if you weren’t there how would you know. Now you can’t even see what your character is doing it drives me freaking nuts ! We wouldn’t need skill transparency if they’d just shrink the damn animations
I think more that what killed the social side of online games is stuff like discord. Even in maplestory most guilds prefer to use discord rather than the in game chat for most things
Hell is actually just maple island and when you get on the boat to south perry it takes you back to the start of Maple Island. Then when you get on the boat to South Perry, it takes you back to the start of Maple Island. So you go through Maple Island and get on the boat to South Perry and it takes you back to Maple Island.
The mushroom tree in Ellina and the Evil Eye caves were good early levelling spots. The mushroom tree because Pot Lid, one of the few shields for mages, can drop there, and it will be a while before you can go to Ludibrium to farm for Esther Shields. Evil Eye cave is just...great as a spot for grinding around like the 20s to 30s or so.. 4:08 Oh I know, my main was a spearman who made it all the way to just under level 110 as a Dragon/Dark Knight.
Nostalgia is one HELL of a drug. The fact that people look back at the struggle we had to endure and remember it fondly is crazy. As much as I enjoyed the game back then, I would never in a million years says I want to go back to grinding with single target Savage Blow on my Bandit again lmao
Yeah but now u have to play 40 different classes to 140 atleast or 200 to progress your main, back then, you only had to play on one character you enjoyed I prefer old maple, but they should add in the quality of life changes the newer builds got. Bring back the long boat rides and stuff, and party quests, I want more social play than just the bossing.

I literally lived in a hospital for a spell of my high school years, the only thing I had to do *all day* for months and months on end was grind. I woke up, grinded until bed, slept for a few hours, woke up, and grinded... and the highest I could get on my ONE character after all of that was 125. Whereas just this past week alone, I've gotten 4 characters to lvl 200. Lol
@@TwinBladeFury i can understand that, but a lot of this affects player psychology, new players like that one class and the moment you tell them that you need to get 40 classes or so eventually to 200 for your main class, they feel overwhelmed. Only having to worry about 1 class and 1 character to progress without having to swap to other characters is psychologically less daunting to players even if it is faster to get to 200. And thats mainly because the new max level is 300 and ALOT more people reached 200 or 250 when that was the max level than 300.
after watching this video it made me realize i do not like old maplestory at all I just liked the conversations and community for the rest, I was completely blinded by nostalgia.
as much as i want to play this, i won't have the patience anymore, when i played it back in 2005 i was 15, now im 35. i don't have the patience anymore. so im back playing GMS because of t hese servers, also i can't play it, since it's not a global release, im from israel.

Artale is being developed within the engine (maple worlds). It isn't nexon themselves but users like you and I who have an extensive knowledge about the world building within maple worlds ✌️
Every map is just a few platforms and a fancy background. Back then, the maps fitted their theme, like Perion, being all cliffs and climbs. Or Ellinia having trees you could go into and explore a whole new layer of maps. It's just grind-optimized nowadays. No sense of exploration or even danger (Hello Tauros). It's sad, i really miss those days. Not the grind though lol
Level gating too much nowadays, I miss exploring maps at level 20 something and trying to dodge much stronger mobs to see what there is in them game. Now? You have to be x level for this map, y level for that map, etc. Arcane river and Grandin is linear progression, where each new area is level gated.
No it's because they want to play with other players instead of drooling from the corner of their mouth while being coached like an actual toddler in what amounts to a single player game where nothing you do matters and there's no real competition or social interaction and everything is locked behind a paywall. They want to login to find their items are still there and even if they're only level 37 at least their stuff is still there and the world has not changed so dramatically that they need to start over.

the social aspect thrived in OSMS because of the hellish grind tbh

the grind is just fake difficulty, the social aspect happened in pqs that gave even more exp than just killig monsters alone.
