  • Walking with Frank from Llangorse to Bwlch.
Frank walks from Llangorse Lake through Cathedine passing St Michael's Church.
The Brecon Beacon escapement with the highest mountain in South Wales at Pen y Fan, which has an elevation of 886 metres (2,907 ft). The Black Mountains are seen on the way towards Llangorse. The Llangorse Lake is drained by the Afon Llynfi, which is the tributary of the River Wye/Afon Gwy.
    Frank passes various Post Boxes.
Frank walks into Bwlch on the old coaching road from London to Carmarthen and Fishguard. Bwlch is the Welsh for pass. It is the approximate watershed between the Afon Gwy/River Wye and the Afon Wysg/River Usk.
Frank had followed Llangorse Lake the valley of the Afon Llynfi upwards.
Frank goes on the X43 TrawsCymru/Stagecoach in South Wales Bus from Bwlch to Abergavenny. The X43 and 43 TrawsCymru Bus runs to from Brecon, through to Crickhowell to Abergavenny Bus station and near but not into the obvious place being Abergavenny railway station. Frank heads towards Abergavenny railway station which is run by Trafnidiaeth Cymru Transport for Wales with the infrastructure run by Network Rail. The Class 67 is at the rear with the leading DVT (Driving Van Trailer) seen with Mark 4 Carriages on a late running Manchester Piccadilly to Swansea train. Abergavenny is in the Welsh Marches Line.
Most pictures are in the historic Welsh county of Brecknockshire now part of Powys. Powys includes Brecknockshire, Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire. After passing Crickhowell the Bus and Train are in Abergavenny in Monmouthshire.
Mostly while walking a many cars and motorbikes being the main forms of motor vehicles being encountered. The odd light van and HGV was passed walking along the road. The verges were on most of the road but some places had hedges right next to the metalled road. In terms of safety this walk was generally fine. Most vehicle drivers moved out wide 1.5 M but not all at some places around Cathedine I was pressed against the hedges. Having to look both ways front and back. It was mostly awkward and some drivers did a few close passes at speed instead of slowing down when there was oncoming traffic and a pedestrian waiting on a narrow verge. Perhaps not the best section to walk along.
Here 4.7 miles (7.5 km) from Llangorse Lake to Bwlch.
