I saw this and the gigguk is lame video, while I'm not super fond of the mean spirited approach of the 'gigguk is lame video' I do agree with you on many things. I've been working on a very long video about him for awhile now. I think at the end of the day he's a great guy who just wants to make entertaining videos, but I'll be honest in that I've been very annoyed with the way he talks about a lot of shows (mainly shonen). There have been many instances where he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about only for his fans to blindly agree with everything he says because it appeals to the most popular opinion. I do think he is a flawed critic in many ways and I think that should be brought into attention more. Thank you for criticizing him, because I don't think people call him out enough
Never heard of "tourist" before, but sounds like the equivalent of "toxic" (given how both words are being thrown around these days to brush off any criticism). Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm a fan of mainstream anime, like big shounen, outside of maybe a few. Sure, I grew up with it like any kid in the early 2000s, and I do look back on them fondly but I think I got more into somewhat lesser known stuff as I got older, particularly older anime like Space Battleship Yamato, Captain Harlock, GE999, etc. I still watch some of these AniTubers for recaps, mostly because it's where I get to find of the more underrated anime that may actually be good (like Vivy: Fluorite Eyes' Song). That being said, I probably don't agree with some of their tastes and opinions that they hype up all the time (like the love of fanservice from Mother's Basement, or Gigguk's love of isekai). Heck, I found and loved Re:CREATORS because of gigguk, but I agree more with the criticisms against it than any deep dives or essays supporting the show.

What about Totally Not Mark? I think he's one of the best anime TH-camrs and avoids most of the problems you mentioned.
