  • Harishchandragad (हरिश्चंद्रगड ) is a hill fort in the Ahmednagar district of India. Its history is linked with that of Malshej Ghat, kothale village and it has played a major role in guarding and controlling the surrounding region.
    Region: Malshej ghat
    District: Ahmednagar
    Range: Harishchandragad
    Height: 4671 feet
    Grade: Difficult
    Duration: 2 days
    Features:
    Saptatirtha Pushkarni
    Kedareshwar Cave
    Harishchandreshwar Temple
    Konkan Kada
    Taramati Peak
The main attraction of this hill fort remains the Konkan Kada (Konkan cliff), an almost 1,423 m concave fall. It is a vertical overhang, like a cobra’s hood, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and an enchanting sunset. A little further away on the mountain is the Taramti peak, the third highest peak in Maharashtra, providing a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain ranges and an ideal setting to bask in the golden canopy of the rising sun.
    Khireshwar (Tolar Khind)
Mumbai via Local Kalyan via ST Bus Khubi phata Walk on gravel road Khireshwar
-Catch a local for Kalyan (on Central Line).
-From Kalyan Station, go to the Kalyan ST depot is just besides the station. Catch any ST(lal daba) going towards Alephata (via Malshej Ghat)
-Get a ticket for Khubi Phata.
-Khubi Phata is just 5 mins after the ghat ends. At the ghat end, you have few shops and a check point. This will be the land mark to identify that Khubi Phata is 5 min away.
-Get down at Khubi Phata and start walking on the 5 km long dam to the base village Khireshwar.
-Once you reach the base village Khireshwar, still there is a km more to the start of the trek trail.
From Khubi phata, 5 km walk on the gravel road of dam will lead to Khireshwar village, and from here a km more will take you to the start of the trail. The trail is a prominent path is goes towards Tolar khind . After around 2.5 hours of gradual ascent you will each Tolar khind. Then there is a 100 feet rock patch with rock cut for step. Its tricky but not difficult, it does not require any technical climb as such. After one more similar patch, you will reach the plateau. Then there is after a 45 min of walk on the plateau you will reach the temple.
FROM MUMBAI - Belpada (Nalichi vaat)
Mumbai via Local Kalyan via ST Bus Savarne Trek to base village Belpada
-- Catch a local for Kalyan (on Central Line).
From Kalyan Station, go to the Kalyan ST depot is just besides the station. Catch any ST(lal daba) going towards Alephata (via Malshej Ghat)
-- Get a ticket for Savarne. Savarne village is just at the start of Malshej Ghat.
-- The straight 1 hour trek from Savarne will takes you to the Belpada, the base village.
-- From Belpada, you have the follow the stream to start of Nali.
    Other way
--If you are group of 5 ppl or more and you are aware of the road route to Belpada base village.
--Then you can hire a vehicle from Kalyan or Murbad to the base village. This would save some time and energy for the laborious climb of Nali.
    Route Nalichi Vaat
    Grade: Difficult
Nalichi Vaat (it means a passage through a gorge) is a path that lies to the extreme right of the mountain. It is the most difficult path to the top. Popular among climbers and experienced trekkers, Nalichi Vaat involves a near 80 degree climb, involving steep rock patches. The trail begins on a stream bed filled with large man-sized rocks and eventually leads to the foot of the gorge(Nali).
    Stay:
At top, you can stay in one of the many available cave. You can carry you own tent camp out in open. In monsoon and winter, we prefer cave for its warmth. In summer, camping out is fun.
    Food:
As villagers are frequent to the temple, villager from Panchnai have there small shops where one can order locally prepared food not fancy but adequate.

Pachnai Route is most obvious and quiet easy route that takes you to HarishchhandraGadh temple within 2-3 hours.. Good for begginers and elderly people.

Awesome trek..... Hey guys. I'll be travelling to this spot by my bike....Do we have bike parking area or can we park our bike in near by areas?

    • @Chaitanya.Kamath
      @Chaitanya.Kamath 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Certainly yes, you can park your bike or car or even a bus but you need to inform respective property owners or seek permission well in advance. They take nominal parking charges which is quite affordable and safety assured. But make sure you park your vehicle properly so that others won't face trouble while entry or exit. Though there are multiple parking places.

When there was no good movie in Bollywood; SRK(ShahRuk Khan) used to hit the market with a blockbuster. When there was no century in cricket; SRT(Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) used to hit a century and when there is no good video on Harish; SSM(Sir Sujit Mallick) hits the TH-cam..
Classic video.. music is top class (KGF feel)
Hindi narration with English subtitles would have reached more audience
