- We had a flash freeze and for two days the skating at Lake Louise in Banff National Park was the best I had ever experienced. So I was messing around with my new iPhone 11 Max and had a DJI OSMO 2 steady cam/gimbal. Rather than sit on this and do nothing I thought I would lay a track down and add some clips. It is not well done because I am short on time. So without further ado, here is 20 minutes of editing.

Yes. The lame music is just a big distraction. Natural sound would be so much more engaging.

I used to work at the Lake Louise hotel and someone woke me up at 2:00 AMstaff house and told me to look outside. The northern lights were going crazy and I was alone sitting at the edge of the lake until dawn watching them. It was like a concert light show with the colored lights moving very fast and the air seemed to be crackling. Glad that I didn't meet a bear too. A wonderful memory.
@@mariamarano6729 I worked there back in 1980 and the hotel was not open in the winter at all. I saw the northern lights in the late spring and the ground was bare. So due to global warming and covid I expect that you would have to call the hotel and ask when the lake freezes enough to skate on safely. I would not want to crash through the ice in the middle of that lake . Even in the summer it is very cold and you would die in minutes in the deep part. It is very beautiful though.

Hockey player here. Missing skating on frozen lakes. Down in NJ. it almost never gets cold enough. I've only skated on a pond once.

Back in 94, 6 of us rode our mtn bikes out to Minewanka in late March. It was starting to thaw and the cracking noises were incredible. Rode from one side to the other. Freaked out a bit.

Leonard Lorber about three weeks ago. It only lasted 3 days then it snowed.
I haven't seen Ice like that since I was a kid. It would have been hard not to see how far and fast you could go.

By analyzing with some utrasonic scroll, passively the utrasound generate by the skates, it will be possible to analize distance and position innertially. Olease do the same with the skyes. Best regards, you should try the Sweden serenity by time to time.

Ahh so nice. I was there in the second week of Dec 2019. I'm aiming for this condition where there is no snow, clean ice, and you can skate as far as you can. When exactly was this if you don't mind me asking?
Usually these conditions exist around November where is is cold but the first snow hasn’t occurred yet

It can. One person actually went through the ice. This was a supper flash freeze

Phung chi thanh this was early November. First week I think. The lake had only frozen over two days earlier. This footage was shot over two days. I don’t ever recall it being this incredible before. Been in the area well over 30 years.
The skating only lasted 2 days then it snowed 10 cm.
