  • This underground funicular system is like a metro with 15 minute headways!!! Haifa, Israel
The Carmelit, named after Mount Carmel through which it runs, is an underground funicular railway in Haifa. The difference in elevation between the first and last stations is 274 meters (899 feet). Carmelit cars have a slanted design, with steps within each car and on the station platform. Since the grade varies along the route, the floor of each car is never quite level, and slopes slightly "uphill" or "downhill" depending on the location, the only exception being Masada station.
The Carmelit is the smallest subway system in the world, having only four cars, six stations and a single tunnel 1.8 km (1.1 mi) long. The four cars operate as two two-car trains, which run on single-track with a short passing loop to allow the trains to pass each other.
The technology used in the system forces it to have an even number of stations at approximately equal distances. This means that some stations are not close to major centers, but were situated for technical reasons.
Lol the camera does not like the interior lighting of the funiculars!

I’m in the metro of Porto and my daughter was a bit stressed wanting to get home and asked which was the smallest metro in the world, I told her I don’t know so I looked it up and to my surprise it is located in my favorite country, so after reading the whole history of it in Wikipedia next stop was to watch about it on TH-cam, hope to visit it one day. Thanks for sharing.

Наклонная трансформирующаяся часть конструкции кузова фуникулёра может пережить саму магистраль, которой придёт на смену другая, более эффективная... Но не будем торопить события, поживём, увидем...

That is quiet standard technology. The only unique thing might be the intermediate stations. Most of these funicalaires only go point to point.
Serfaus, Austria has a "Metro" 1280 Meter long, also cable bound and 4 stops. So I would be careful calling this the "smallest subway system in the world". In ski resorts, there are actually many of them, going up the mountain, inside a mountain.
