    It's not that I really hate you; it's that I'm almost insanely jealous at how well you didle with and shoot revolvers! When young, I considred myself a pretty good pistol shot -- single action at rocks and targets and double action for rolling cans -- but I never, ever, came anywhere close to what you do without fanfare or getting arrogant. WOW! and with the greatest kudos! Please keep up this wonderful stuff.

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm a good shot too but I was never jealous of anyone. I'm always happy to see another person get blessings from God.

    • @josepha.freivaldsr.9636
      @josepha.freivaldsr.9636 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hoped everyone got my low-brow humor in the jealousy remark but apparently you took me seriously. With pistoleers of my day, jealousy wasn't actually often encountered -- on a fun day anyone in the crowd could beat anyone. I absoluely agree regarding blessings from the Great God. @@redfaux74

      THanks so much for the kind words! I do struggle sometimes with my shooting, I have bad days like anyone else. Those days I'm not so inspired to get the video equipment out and make videos if you know what I mean! LOL! but it's all fun, I truly enjoy that I get to do this and hearing feedback from folks like you makes it all the more worthwhile!

    My first revolver is a Taurus 66 in satin stainless steel. I am madly in love with that gun. 4" barrel allows me to carry it and otherwise, it shoots very smooth and I feel I'm in control hitting where I am aiming.

O , Im thinking back 40 years ago when you could get a rossi or taurus 357 for 150$ . I paid 145 for my taurus 357, 170 for the 9mm and 170 for the 40 cal, I miss those days.

    Love your videos, buffalo. I really do like when you show the actual fit and finish of a firearm. When im considering buying a new tool, your videos are in the handful i peruse before i make my purchase. Its ok if you forget sometimes, were all human. It usually goes to say there are different quality firearms that usually hold true to certain brands. A ruger, remington, or smith is going to be a better gun than a taurus, but not as good as a colt or a taylors.
    Love your videos buffalo, and that was a great opening clip, nice shot!

  • @Mike-up6go
    @Mike-up6go ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice review, Buffalo. When your video first started, I had no idea of exactly what caliber/model of gun you were firing. From the recoil, I at first thought you had a .44 mag. The lighter weight of the revolver and using PMC .357 ammo explains that. IMHO PMC ammo overall runs a bit on the hot side.

    Taurus has been given a lot of grief over the years and I am sure it’s deserved. I have experienced it myself. But they have produced some very good performing guns among some duds. I happened upon an excellent blue 6” vent rib model 689 357 with adjustable sights about 20 years ago. I landed it for $255. It’s been the most accurate centerfire handgun I’ve ever owned. 1” groups at 25 yards and a 100 yard group that could have been covered with a coffee can. It lives with my daughter now, she doesn’t like autoloaders. Supposedly their QC has been improved. I hope that’s true but time will tell.

    My 686 had some stretch in the top strap. I'm concerned that the Rossi would be more prone to that. Stretch or no, I'm sorry I sold that 686. S&W knows how to set up a wheelgun trigger. Rossi, by your numbers, seems a touch heavy. Thanks, Buff, for another fine video.

    So it's basically a Taurus model 66, but with the "classic" Smith & Wesson features: 6-round cylinder, hammer-mounted firing pin, and NO internal lock. I love it. If I see one in carry size (4" barrel), I will definitely get it.

  • @kentuckybackwoods7114
    @kentuckybackwoods7114 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People love to dog these "cheap" pistols and act like if you dont drop a grand its junk. I've had pretty good luck out of Taurus and Rossi both. Pistols, rimfire, and a couple shotguns. No they're not fancy but from a utilitarian standpoint I'm a fan. This one looks identical to the 9 shot .22 I had and it shot great. That's one I sure wish I never sold.

    • @01rcpena
      @01rcpena ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I DID drop a $1100+ on a Smith & Wesson PC 686 Plus seven shot in .357 Magnum with a the 5 inch barrel. After only 21 rounds through it, it's going back to S&W for repair! 1 in 7 rounds will lock up the trigger and cylinder.

    • @kentuckybackwoods7114
      @kentuckybackwoods7114 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@01rcpena the price increase of everything has really driven down quality of firearms in my opinion. Companies have to use lower grade parts with worse metallurgy to fit what consumers are willing to pay. Of course your paying more for what's seen as higher tiered labels, S&W Springfield, ect. Take just about any firearm manufacturer product from 1990 back, compared to a modern weapon, the quality is night and day.
      I had a Rem 760 Game Master I bought off my friends dad for my first deer rifle when I was 12. He died and my buddy asked if I'd sell him his dads gun back. Of course I did. Well I got to missing it and saw a new 7600 in a gun shop. I picked that thing up and it felt like it was glued together. Disappointed wasnt the word for it. In today's gun market they all feel cheap so why pay $900+ for a firearm when you could pay $500 for similar arms of the same quality? Buy as many old guns as you can get your hands on. They were made to last.

    Suggestion, Buffalo...when you check the lockup on any revolver, pull the trigger, allow the hammer to fall and hold the trigger back...as it would be at the moment of firing. This will have the cylinder "hand" pressing the cylinder against the locking bolt and providing the most secure lock-up.

    Great review. Yes, looks like a clone of the old R972, except for the bead blasted finish. Right down to the somewhat disproportionate looking grip, which is only an appearance thing. Glad they brought it back and especially without the key lock. Here's hoping it's a trial balloon for S&W to do away with that nonsense. Love the hammer-mounted firing pin. Maybe now someone will make nice looking wood grips for it, which will also fit the ole R972. Great revolvers for the money. My only beef with Rossi/Braztech/Taurus is the almost non-existent tech support, at least my experience was totally off-putting a few years ago. You are an awesome shooter, Buffalo!

  • @GrumpyGenXGramps
    @GrumpyGenXGramps ปีที่แล้ว

    I have an older Rossi M971 .357 with the 3” barrel and factory brake. I hesitate to call it “ported”. It a true Rossi before the Taurus purchase and it is a fantastic, underrated revolver! Although I HATE the brake after accidentally shooting it without ear pro and realized I do NOT want to have to shoot this thing indoors or in the confines of an automobile! I love shooting it as long as I’m wearing ear pro! I’ve had the opportunity to have the brake cut off but haven’t because that’s what makes it what it is and if I ever sell it I it would lose its value. It’s apparently rare, tho it is “only” a Rossi. Oh! And it is a DREAL to shoot .38 Special!

    Rossi is still very much out there, primarily with lever action rifles. The Rossi 92 and Rio Bravo are still quite common. The Model 92 is quite common for cowboy action shooting, particularly with those shooting more for fun... and those who know they're not going to be able to sound like a General Electric Minigun when shooting a single action revolver or lever rifle.

    I think I may get one. I've been wanting another 357 double action ever since I got rid of my GP100. I like this one and will be on the lookout for one locally. Great video.
