When they said that Daiki is good at braking, it meant that he's braking technique is very, very effective, allowing him to brake later than his opponent... Usually. Braking, especially the timing of it is actually one of the most important skills to learn if you want to race. Most overtakes happen IN braking zones, when both cars are entering the corner. You must time it perfectly do defend well, or attack well. Brake too soon, you'll get passed, or the leader will increase their lead. Brake too late and you'll either CRASH, BURN AND DIE, or you'll hit the car in front of you. Neither are the desired outcome lmao
Hey my guys, Threw in episode 4 with this one since I got it done early! Episode 3 would've only been like 8 min long after editing it down. This might mean Monday is skipped But idk yet. One favor I need though, if someone can type out Fourth Stage episode in bundles for me so I know the best place to start/end Initial D recording sessions. Example: Ep 1-2 Toru, Ep 3-4 Daiki, I'm already aware of Episode 5-6 going together for Pro Guy. But if someone could tell me what episodes introduce and end each race subject that would help with not having mixed sessions like this one. So far it's looking like a 1, 2 pattern. Please don't include any names or cars in the bundles like I did lol just the episode numbers that flow together the best for uploading.
Aight JayK, Let's see what I can do.. Episode 8: Keisuke Race (Just this Episode) Episode 9: Short Takumi Race Episode 10: The Episode ends with a race starting (Takumi) Episode 11 - 12: That Race Continues. (Takumi) Episode 12 - 13: Keisuke race (Mostly episode 13) Episode 16 Keisuke Race Episode 17 Takumi Race Episode 20 - 21 Keisuke Finale (Might Be My favourite race in the entire series) Episode 22 - 24 Takumi Finale (Also A really good race) Hope this was useful :)
Ok so you can do a single upload with Ep 7. Ep 8 is Keisuke's race and 9 is Takumi's and I will leave it up to you to decide whether you want to do a single or double. Ep 10 single. Ep 11-12 double. Ep 13 single. Ep 14 single. Ep 15 single. Ep 16-17 double. Ep 18 single. Ep 19 single. Ep 20-21 double. Ep 22-23-24 triple (trust me it's not like in First and Second Stage, here the race is 3 episodes long)
FF - Front front (front engine, front power), meaning the two wheels at the front handle both the steering and power FR - Front engine, rear power (the engine spins the rear wheels) the main reason why Takumi drifts and the other guy grips is because if the rear wheels spin faster than the front, it causes the rear end of the car to move away from the central axis, "sticking its ass out". The FF finds it harder for the rear to stick out with just normal braking, usually you'd need the handbrake to do a drift. When you press the accelerator it feels very different as well, it stays on your line really well but the steering feels stiffer. ABS - antilock braking system. If you press on brakes too hard, the wheels slows to a halt and locks up, which causes you to slide instead of slowing down. The system works by slightly loosening your brakes hundreds of times (I think it was back then) per second so that your wheel never locks up. Nowadays it's more on the level of thousands of adjustments per second. I would say braking is more than half the work in cornering, and it does really sound bland when non car guys hear it. The reason why AWD and 4x4s were SO hyped back then is because it was always the case that only two wheels were moving the car forward. FRs weren't really in favor of pure traction and speed with cornering, and I would say the same is true until now, so it's an additional reason to say Takumi is awesome

Daiki had more strain on his tires because he was confident he could pressure Takumi and tried aggressively overtaking him multiple times and since FF cars accelerate and brake both using the front tires, it gave out before the AE86's tires. Nakazato's R32 front tires gave first because of the weight of the front end of the car and also being overly aggressive trying to out run the AE86.
The Honda Civic EK9 Type-R is one of the most popular versions of the Civic for Tuners and Enthusiasts, and is the generation after the EG6, also known as Shingo Shoji's car of choice, much like the EG6, the EK9 amazing FF (Front Engine, Front Wheel Drive) drivetrain and V-TEC Engine are no jokes on circuits and mountain passes alike, due to the car being pulled by the FWD drivetrain around a corner, which explains Daiki's different driving style compared to Takumi and his 86.
I think one of the great aspects of Fourth Stage is definitely the fact that they dive into the strategies. You get to see how in-depth these races can be, that it’s not just up to how hard they can step on the gas. Bonus points for these things being based off real techniques, since the author of Initial D worked with an actual professional racer as an advisor for the series. Also, it really lets Ryosuke show off what made him such a racing genius in the first place.

FF means Front engine Front drive Basically in a FF car the front wheels handle both the power from engine ans turning, Honda Civic EG6 and EK9 are FF cars FR means Front engine Rear drive, so the power goes to the rear wheels. Eg AE86 FF advantage is that there is lesser power loss as there is no axle to transfer power to the rear. Also since the car is more front heavy, it has better cornering. That's why most small engine small cars are FF. But also when pushed hard, FF cars wear their front brakes and tyres faster. Regarding how Takumi overtook Daiki, it's simply due to engine advantage. Both cars had similar HP. But EK9 redlines at 8200RPM, where as AE86 redlined at 11000 RPM, i.e around 3000RPM more. Basically, AE86 engine had more acceleration to give compared to Daiki.
@@sheldonlamey7010I am no mechanic However, the reason why FF/FWD vehicles understeer is due to too much pressure on the front (as mentioned before). So on an existing car. A differential suspension could help. Like stiff suspension in the back and soft in front, reduce tyre pressure in the front, etc. Basically make it so that the front of the car is soft and rear is stiff
Let's GO! Is it just me or did the thumbnail look vertically stretched? 4:29 Front wheel drive cars are good cause when going downhill the weight of the car is on the driven wheels (front wheels) which gives you some control (at least in theory) Though on the uphill it would work against the integra 6:10 They are nice, but the mountain roads are extremely narrow. You can still attempt a pass. They just race this way in case the road never got wide enough to go for it. Cause then you could just block the road the entire way and you'd have a win if you took the lead at the start. And what fun would that be? Akina is special where it is 2 lanes and even a 3 lane section, but most touges aren't like this. 12:49 The reason they turn so differantly is because Daiki's civic can't drift, it can slide around a bit, but if you slip up too much it'll loose a lot of speed. Also Takumi doesn't have ABS either, you're right, however without ABS you gotta learn to get as close the the edge of grip as possible and that is difficult and Daiki might be a little bit better. 18:08 It is very simmilar, but in a way it's even worse than Nakazato, cause on the civic the Front tyres gotta do EVERYTHING which means turning, braking and also all the acceleration which wears them out quickly. In nakazato's case it was just that the front was too heavy. 21:25 They cut them off last minute cause they gotta work everything they wanna do into the episode count they have. Battle stages have unused races as a fun bonus. The point of battle stages is that once you know the story, but wanna rewatch a race you just have all the races in one movie.
