little something to mention: you can always tell something is sewn cheaply/ probably made in a sweatshop by the stitch length. if the stitches are large, messy and loose threads are sticking out, this is because the workers are being paid via. how many articles of clothing (or shoes) they make, instead of being paid by the hour. large stitches are far quicker to sew, and cutting loose threads of course takes time. also overlockers are far quicker than regular sewing machine (looks like a fancy zigzag) and that will be a tell tale sign as well if you are looking at the stitches. you can also tell if somethings cheap by the amount of plastic percentage in fabric (i.e synthetics are incredibly cheap) and stuff like cotton is more expensive. just something to remember if you are ever wondering if you overpaid for a product online. hope this helps ಠ_ಠ
these videos are so popular BECAUSE nobody else has/will bite the bullet to SHOW people that they're garbage. I think subconsciously, people know it's not gonna be good, "too good to be true" and all that; but writing down "these are bad do not buy" and SHOWING people "these are bad do not buy" is much more effective. Plus you get to be like, "wow im a garbage man on youtube"
Hahaha, that text on the back is just hilarious, "the expen-", especially the hyphen just kills me. I really hope that anyone who was about to buy is this persuaded not to.
The soles here are very clearly knock-offs of the soles used by Unravel Project for their sneakers. The soles from the shoes at 1:27 are from a pair of Li-Ning sneakers The soles from the shoes at 1:30 are from the god-awful sneakers Dolce & Gabbana make (very famous for their techwear) as an aside, why is it that most of these drop-shipped shoes just copy Li-Ning footwear, and maybe throw on a Yeezy 350 inspired upper? Surely they would try to copy more popular footwear models and pretend to be the 'cheaper but just as good' brand, rather than reproduce more experimental shoes from a relatively obscure Chinese athletic brand
I recently bought a silver/grey variant of the *New Balance x Snow Peak x Tokyo Design Studio* shoes for over half price off. Can’t link it because it’s sold out and also domestic, however you might find it someplace if you search. Great pair of shoes/semi boots for winter wear and also gives off a somewhat military/police look.
Can you do an updated video on what new/upcoming shoes are good for a techwear style? Really looking into the Nike Mowabb personally but other options would be great :)
Hey Anton, you often mention in your videos that most techwear are very "2018-2019" which seems odd to me because techwear-style clothing look very futuristic and modern to me. What are the upcomig trends of 2022 when it comes to techwear according to you ? And what makes a techwear piece of clothing "out-dated" ?
An example is massive branding. Look at the ACG Deploy and compare that to the current ACRONYM jackets. These don’t have any branding at all, which is a stark contrast to ACG pieces of the past, just to name one example.
Very good question! Just like any kind of fashion or aesthetic techwear has its trends that come and go. As Revoxx mentioned Nikelab ACG was very popular around 2016-2018 (although still worn a lot now!) and characterised by heavy branding and text elements. Now I'd say it's more common for techwear outfits to minimise branding, even though both current Acronym and past Nikelab ACG both have a futuristic look. Right now I think the outdoor or hiking-inspired clothing will continue to become more popular, keeping some of those futuristic looks but with less 'urban utility' in favour of 'mountain/trail utility'. We're also seeing very tapered or slim silhouttes being replaced with wider or more relaxed ones, particularly with pants.
i actually bought these shoes and have had them for a few months, i actually like them, i put some sole inserts into the shoe to give it more structure and theyre actuallly very comfortable if you get the right size
This is Cyberpunk fashion. Techwear can overlap by making Cyberpunk aesthetic. The main difference is merely the materials. Technically advanced materials are what put the tech in techwear.
The Nike free RN commuter 2018 triple black is another example of those shoes that look tech and unique but remain as a side-alternative of better quality. Can't really find them anymore, but tbh they were and still are my go-to beaters that work with anything
Funny video for all the wrong reasons😃 Looks like a purchase from a dodgy HK street market!…Thank you for buying so we dont have to. More of these please👍🏼
A similar looking but better quality shoe just recently went on sale on Asos, it looked pretty good on the product pictures so I decided to pick them up for around 20€ and I was pleasantly surprised, they definitely hold up to my vetements x reebok sock runner in terms of durability and rigid sole.
Recently came across the acronym prestos for $70 (a hard price to argue with) as far as classic “go to’s” go I own 3 pairs of all white ultra boosts and 4 pairs of vans slip ons... simply can’t go wrong especially when getting them at a thrift store or consignment shop, highly recommended
I've worn Reebok Princesses back when I was kid, and they're an absolutely incredible shoes, like not expensive easy to find and the wear experience is fantastic. They're a women's shoe I think? IDK I've got smaller feet so I often wear womens shoes for a tighter more functional fit. But There are variants on the mens side very similar to the Princesses but they are SO COMFORTABLE and perfect for day to day wear, they come in a clean black so just nice comfortable shoe.
Would be really cool to see you do a video where you give yourself a budget and have to make something tech out of it like that DIY idea mentioned at the end of the vid. So maybe 50 pounds in materials, and see the best you can do
FOr people who like proper fitting shoes, looking for a tool to strengthen their feet muscles and not only aesthetic shoes I recommend Vivobarefoot shoes (btw hey just look good). I'm not into techwear even if i buy "technical" clothes but this can be a nice choice. Just be careful if you are not used to zero drop and natural footshape shoes, they can be really harsh on your body for a few months

@this is Antwon and everyone else MLO is another company that sells a variety of kinda cheap material shoes. Most of the models consist of a sock/mesh body and a kinda 3d printed molded sole.
I wore these today in white for the 1st time in a while they are more so of my throw on “shoes” and are extremely light if you’re buying these it’s mostly for looks/comfort not functionality in like hiking or active wear like you mentioned in the video

I’m trying to figure out if MLO is a “real” brand/designer or just a dropshipper. I took the plunge and I have a pair of MLO shoes on the way (different model) and they are coming from China even though the MLO website emphasizes “domestic” shipping in the US. Guess I’ll find out what the quality is like if my shoes ever arrive.
@@dylant_125 Oddly enough, the same day I replied to your comment, I got a message from MLO saying the shoes I ordered almost 2 weeks ago and to which a tracking number were assigned are actually out of stock because they took too many orders before marking the shoes out of stock. They asked if I would be willing to wait for the shoes to be restocked at an unknown date or if I wanted a different pair. I asked for a refund, but they have not yet replied to me about that. There are more and more signs that MLO is just an American dropshipper of certain shoe styles we see on all the usual Chinese sites. I recall seeing one or two photos on the MLO site in which they forgot to replace the nonsense text with "MLO" on certain embellishments--in other words, they accidentally used a couple of the same photos with gibberish text we see on the Chinese "techwear" sites. Basically what's happening is the factory churns out these shoes and adds the branded embellishments for whichever "company" is going to retail them. If i may give you my 2 cents regarding making videos about fake techwear, I doubt these are absolutely necessary. Your videos on quality products are actually really good so I do think you should stick to those. Tbh, no one really needs to watch videos about cheap, bad quality stuff; it is obvious to most of us that dropshippers’ techwear gear is not worth buying at this point. The videos in which you actually recommend stuff are the best there are when it comes to Techwear; keep it up! 👊🏽
Thanks for the kind words - I totally agree in that people like you who've watched these videos a while or have a decent level of knowledge will already know stuff like this isn't worth bothering with. However a couple of things made me return to doing another sort of video on this topic: 1. People have been enjoying watching bad stuff getting roasted, so there's entertainment value even if they're not as valuable as product reviews. 2. There's a huge number of people with a vague or casual interest in techwear who don't understand much about what's good/bad, and haven't found their way into the community yet. These kinds of videos can help introduce people to the channel and some alternatives to consider VS the first things that come up when you search 'techwear clothing' (as often they're dropshippers.
It's an inaccurate presumption that most people are switched on to the quality issues with these clothes, especially since most drop-shipping sites go out of their way to make it look like you're buying legitimate products. It's also fun to poke fun at the quality of these products and a good opportunity to give a little bit of advice at the end. Just because something isn't necessary doesn't mean we shouldn't do it :)

@@ThisIsAntwon The entertainment factor in any of your videos is never to be underestimated, that’s for sure! 😂 I totally respect the pedagogical argument. @@ThisIsAntwon The entertainment factor in any of your videos is never to be underestimated, that’s for sure! 😂
I totally respect the pedagogical argument. People do need to understand why they shouldn’t buy stuff like the “best techwear” shoes and dig a little deeper.
But maybe recommending a good/affordable option every time a sh product is roasted could be an idea, what do you reckon? I’m sorry, I’m just eager to keep discovering new Techwear items through your videos as I already have, watching the previous ones.
Thanks for making quality content and taking the time to answer👌.
I ALMOST BOUGHT THIS SHIT LOL.. BUT I HAVE THAT "HUNCH" TO NOT CLICKING BUY
6:53 I don't think the writer was shot, I think they probably had a stroke and collapsed at that point - would explain the random text before the end :)
