- Today's episode features a distinguished guest, Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM MLC (Retd). A decorated military veteran, Major General Jamwal's illustrious career began with his commission into the J&K State Forces on September 10, 1947. He went on to serve as ADC to Maharaja Dr Karan Singh Ji of Jammu and Kashmir and studied at the Defence Services Staff College under Field Marshal Manekshaw.
His notable military roles included commanding the 9 J&K Rifles during the 1965 Battle of Asaluttar in Khemkaran, Punjab, earning a Battle Honour for his leadership. He also held significant positions such as Senior Instructor at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, General Staff Officer in the Mountain Division in West Bengal/Sikkim, and Military Secretary to the President of India.
Post-retirement, he has continued to serve the community as President of the Dharmarth Trust and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, and founded the J&K Paryavaran Sanstha, focusing on environmental conservation in the Himalayan and Shivalik regions.
