What is it with these women just handing over their savings from when they were single to their in laws. If your competent enough to save up that much on your own you don't have to just go belly up on command like that. I would have just left the second that absurd request was made and taken my bankbook with me. These people need to say 'no.' Same thing with the groom or his family wanting the wife to not work, any man that wants me to depend on him financially isn't a man I am willing to be with.

You really need to learn the difference between he and she and between a step-father and a father-in-law. The story gets confusing at times.
