      The Soviet Tanker Who was 26, saw that her husband perished, so she went to the war, and sold everything for her husbands vengeance and a remarkable story of repairing in hell in a battle really proved women were something! Through when she went to the bulges she has hit by shrapnel, and was fatally wounded, then finally she layed !in the heavens. at least they are finally together!
      (This may not be accurate, I just want it to rhyme so Maria could have been older , btw this song rocks!

      I don't know if she is a fitting topic since she doesn't belong in any of the "big wars" but the first woman that always comes to MY mind on those kinda topic for sure is Jeanne d'Arc. Imagine who it must have felt serving your country willing to give your live for it and being thanked by getting burned like a witch.
      Also you mentioned her yourself the female sniper Pavlichenko her nickname being Lady Death is not the worst nickname to get into a song ;)

    One badass woman that should be mentioned is Mariya Oktyabrskaya who's husband was killed fighting the germans on the eastern front. Did she cry? Maybe. But she wiped the mercury tears away and sold everything she owned and bought a god damn T-34 tank which she gave to the war effort. But she wouldn't let some wuss avenge her husbands death so she requested to drive the tank herself. And she did. She became sergeant and eventually was killed in 1944 (probably making an epic last stand) and she later recieved the highest honor, Hero of the Soviet union. Thats pretty badass.

    • @pantherace1000
      @pantherace1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      she wrote a letter to Stalin demanding that she be allowed to crew the T-34 she had donated to the Red Army. During the fighting around Lenningrade in 1943 her vehicle was immobilized by shell fire (the track had been damaged), without waiting for an order she dismounted the vehicle and repaired the track before remounting the vehicle (this appears to not have been uncommon for her). She would go into combat in Eastern Poland during Bagration and when her vehicle was again immobilized she would dismount her vehicle for the last time, while repairing the vehicle she was struck in the head by shrapnel and went into a coma before dying several weeks later.
      Her tank was named "Боевая подруга" or "Fighting Girlfriend".
      Oktyabraskaya needs a film.

      The problem is that there were comparatively few of them. Consequence of a lack of conscription...
      But, I agree, their participation doesn't get an appropriate amount of coverage most of the time. Usually, it either gets played down or blown out of proportion.

    I'm really late to this, but I'd still like to tell why I'm a big fan of Sabaton.
    And yes, I am a woman.
    - I'm in to history in general, but war history is a big interest.
    - I really like Joakims singing. He is now my favorite singer!
    - Turns out I also really like their music. I have favorites, but nothing I dislike!
    - When I dived into all the youtube stuff. I found that they seem like really nice people.
    - Their live shows are really awesome and fun.
    - They are actively doing stuff like Sabaton History and other "side" projects. And I love it.

And this also true about women in resistance, as I've been able to see both from my researchs and from my family history. As an Historian specialized in Resistance networks I really love this video and, as part of the Sabaton Witches Division, I love it even more ! • @dark2023-1lovesoni
      @dark2023-1lovesoni 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Arguably, Pavlichenko is the most versatile, and well-rounded sniper to ever live. She's considered second only to Simo Hayha (#1). Hayha fought mostly defensively, giving him the home-field advantage. He grew up in, and knew, the areas that his enemies were entering for the first time in their short lives. Hayha waited for enemies to come to him. While Pavlichenko (#2) was on the opposite side of that equation. She was often being sent to areas she had never visited before and supported Russian troops during their invasion of Germany. She faced enemy snipers who had the "home-field advantage". She fought *_offensively_* instead.
      I honestly think that Hayha was very specialized in doing his one primary type of fighting, in a scenario he was extremely familiar with. While Pavlichenko was the best *_combat_* sniper to ever live.
      Reminds me of an old adage; Archilochus said, "The fox knows enough about many things, but the hedgehog knows everything about one big thing. In this analogy, Pavlichenko is a fox, while Hayha is a hedgehog. There's nothing wrong with being ultra-specialized on one specific aspect of combat, but it's an important bit of context to keep in mind.
      If they traded places halfway through their careers, I think it's likely that Pavlichenko could have filled Hayha's shoes pretty well. Maybe not quite as well, but at least 50-70%. While I don't think Hayha would do as well in Pavlichenko's position. Not knowing the terrain and area, not fighting primarily in winter (which most of his tactics were based around), etc... I think Hayha wouldn't fare well as an offensive sniper in an unfamiliar land or urban environment. He might survive, and even that's a "maybe," but he definitely wouldn't be anywhere near 50% as effective as Pavlichenko in her more variable combat roles and unpredictable situations. If I had to pick one to be on my team, I'd only pick Hayha if we were the defending force. I'd go with Pavlichenko for literally anything beyond that (offensive missions, any combination of both (eg: capture & hold) and definitely if the scenario was unknown).

    Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Excellent follow up from part 1. Once again special thanks to the women who fought and died. In pursuit of the German armies invasion. That made this documentary possible!!!

    I will say this. I am surprised they haven't talked about or made a song about Lydia Litvyak, a Jewish Soviet female pilot durning the second war. She was the first woman to gain the title of Ace, first female fighter pilot to get a confirmed kill, and holds the most confirmed kills of any female fighter pilot. She is also known as the "White Lily of Stalingrad." For her actions.

    Third, as someone involved in the Sabaton Witches division, I can confirm that women love you not only because you guys are so damn attractive but also because we love your music. Most of the people involved in war are men but it affects everyone so, we all understand the message behind the songs and we are inspired by both brave men and women. So, when do we get part 3 of this? Never enough of female war heroes, they're so underrepresented! Thanks for giving me some ideas to read about, I'll do some research of these women.
    And, about male-female ratio of Sabaton fans: the concert in Budapest in January was one of those very few places in my life where I had to stand in the toilet queue less than the guys. 😃 But, yes, many girls are metalheads and like history. Oh, and Pär, you guys ARE attractive, but sorry, that's not the reason why I go to your shows. I go because I wanna jump, headbang and sing along to 'From the depths of hell in silence...' 😉

    I hope you'll get better, Indy. I had picked up some bits but I wasn't too sure. I do hope that you'll recover from the virus. With the other bits about the female soldiers, there were those who fought in World War Two. You women who fought alongside men and I'll tip my hat to those who were brave enough. But neutrality is what drew me to Sabaton and you keep it like that.

    Thank you for this episode guys. As Spartacus hinted, the most badasses are not always the most obvious ones. Historians can be deadly weapons too. Around 800,000 women served in the Soviet army during WW2 and a lot of them went to combat. If you are interested in first hand testimonies, I advise you to read thet excellent book of Svetlana Alexievitch "The Unwomanly Face of War". Hello guys! I have just watched the video and want to say one thing, I really like when it's Spartacus who is the host because I understand his English better and also because he has more nuance so it's easier for a French speaker. I'm Belgian and my English is not perfect so it's really cool when it's not too fast.
    Indy is really cool but when he speaks I need the French translation.
    By the way why did you stop the french translation? It will be cool to have them again😁

    Women took part in the Polish resistance in large numbers. There were even fully female troops in the AK ranks that actively participated in the subversion, and even carried out assassinations and carried out death sentences on informers and agents. In 1943, during the "C" campaign, the first coup of the Polish underground was carried out, in which only women took part. The target was a Gestapo confidant known as Ch., Who was placed on the list of people to be removed. Two women from the female subversive and sabotage division of Kedyw KG AK "Disk" were appointed for its elimination. Drive commander Wanda Gertz, nicknamed "Lena" and commander of the Minsk group Dyska Maria Jankowska "Margenta." [7] [8]

    Lyudmila Pavlichenko on tour in North America to raise support for the war effort;
    "In Chicago, she stood before large crowds, chiding the men to support a second front. "Gentlemen," she said, "I am 25 years old and I have killed 309 fascist invaders by now. Don't you think, gentlemen, that you have been hiding behind my back for too long?" Her words settled on the crowd, then caused a surging roar of support."
