Hi! Where can I find the video about the procedure on how to download ground motion records in peer ground motion database?

What exactly is the result we get from the Time History Analysis? I mean it gives the values of the forces and the deformation with respect to time. However, the structure member design is based on the maximum values of story forces and deformation, which is also the case in the linear static analysis.
For example, if we do linear static analysis, it will also give us the maximum values of the forces and deformation on which the structure will have to pass and the design should govern.
So, what does the structural engineer get from the Time History Analysis?

In a time history analysis, a structural engineer obtains critical information about how a structure responds to dynamic loads over time. This analysis provides several key insights:
      1. Dynamic Response: Time history analysis shows how a structure reacts to time-varying loads, such as earthquakes, wind gusts, or other dynamic forces. It helps engineers understand the dynamic behavior of the structure, including oscillations, vibrations, and resonance effects.
      2. Stress and Strain Distribution: Engineers can assess the distribution of stresses and strains within the structure at different time intervals. This information is crucial for evaluating the safety and integrity of the components under dynamic loading conditions.
      3. Deformation and Displacement: The analysis provides data on how the structure deforms and displaces over time. Engineers can determine whether displacements remain within acceptable limits or if excessive movement may lead to structural failure or discomfort for occupants.
      4. Resonance Identification: Time history analysis helps identify potential resonance conditions where the structure may amplify dynamic loads. Understanding these conditions allows engineers to implement mitigation measures to prevent damage.
      5. Structural Integrity Assessment: Engineers can assess whether the structure meets safety and code requirements under dynamic loading scenarios. This information is critical for ensuring the structure's stability and durability.
      6. Design Validation: Time history analysis is often used to validate the design of a structure, especially for critical infrastructure like bridges, high-rise buildings, and earthquake-resistant structures. Engineers can refine and optimize the design based on the analysis results.
      7. Performance-Based Design: It enables engineers to develop performance-based design criteria, ensuring that a structure performs satisfactorily under specified dynamic load conditions.
Overall, time history analysis is a powerful tool that helps structural engineers make informed decisions about the design, safety, and performance of structures subjected to dynamic loads, ensuring they meet the required standards and specifications.

Nice! I want to plot the response of Load combination (E.g. Wind plus Wave) not just a single load case (Wind only). But in the Display -> Show Plot Function, I am unable to find Load Combination I have defined (E.g. 1.3 Wind + 1.2 Wave). Can you please help me with that?

      Sure 👍

@@KSSE_Engineer No, Wind and Wave Load are dynamic in nature, plus I am performing nonlinear (soil behaviour is nonlinear) time history Analysis.
I am able to get peak values of loads for different combinations in SAP but not plot with load combinations. That's my issue.

can we perform Time history analysis on steel structure in Etabs software.
and 2nd question is can we design Steel plate shear wall on etabs software. if there is a video on steel plate shear wall design in etbad plz send a link. i would be very thankful to you.
