      Wait... What? "So much FUN?" The working conditions of these HUMAN BEINGS are unacceptable for any international standard: No gloves; no work boots; no flame retardant clothing; without glasses and protective mask; no helmet; without filter to avoid the aspiration of gases, dust, suspended metals, burning fumes... Jeeezzz!!! And U think is FUN... Well, is Not!

      @@salvadorvizcarra769 I have done it much the same way. And you need to realize the world doesnt work like it does on paper. I imagine they'd use more safety equipment if they could afford it, they dont have the luxury of western standards and labor laws. That doesnt mean they cant enjoy their work.

    Oh. So, is the casting material just a sand and oil mixture? Some type of specific sand and probably used motor oil?

    • @UnlimitedFizz
      @UnlimitedFizz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes pretty much, if you make a tight ball of the sand mixture in your hand then push your thumb into it and it shears nicely you've got your mixture just right if not then somethings wrong. But there other types too it depends on the foundry and what they specialise in. The foundry I work in does it a different way to this. We've even had coustomers send us their own moulds that were 3d printed out of sand. But all the sand we use is just sand and a mix of resin and hardener so the sand sets solid, then the heat of the metal after casting burns most of the resin off and the sand breaks down easier, then it gets cleaned and reused. Jewelers use petrobond which is a really fine sand and some sort of oil so you get more detail in decorative pieces.

      One website I found said this about the binders used in casting sand: “Common binders include cereals, ground pitch, sea coal, gilsonite, fuel oil, wood flour, silica flour, iron oxide, pearlite, molasses, dextrin, and proprietary materials.”
      Given the color, I’m guessing either fuel oil or molasses. Whichever is cheaper there, I assume, so probably oil… :/

    well I commend them for the effort and we can't have enough hard working people. But engineers? No. An Engineer could figure out the metallurgy, the total amount in each piece, the fastest way to make it, the most efficient way to use the minimum resources, the strongest design and make and test computer software to test it and figure out a assembly line process for mass production, find and remove flaws in construction and materials.
